I do care for him, as his music and lyrics, if not his life in some aspects at least, have had the most positive impact on my own life for the last 24 years. So yeah, i do care for him even though I never nor will I ever meet him.

Do you care about Prince as a person?

A simple YES or NO would suffice.

Knowing that you are the spirit of an otter, I feel I can confide in you. Yes,I care about Prince as a person. In fact I let him stay in my spare room when he is in town to avoid the drama of getting to a hotel w/out being noticed. cool

By 'Care' what do you define this by?

I, simply wish the best for anyone in life. Regardless of who they are or where they come from. It's just like the song: "I wish u Love, I wish U heaven'..U can say its 7, and I can say 11..Still I wish u heaven! smile

I think ALL of us would care if something happen to Prince that caused pain to him. It's the same when we look at the television, and notice a bunch of people die or suffer great lost. We don't know any of them as a person, or what they think. But we care on the behalf of their suffering or effect of their trauma.

NOW, we don't know him personally, which changes how one might 'care' to an extent for someone. BUT we are human beings, AND IT'S in our nature to care when something happens to someone. OF Course not everyone does...BUT likely when something goes wrong, we wish the best, or extend some sense of concern.

When you KNOW someone, the care is taken to another level based on the 'relationship' that is formed. BUT, I think it's important to realize fans have no 'relationship' with Prince outside of the information he revealed, and much of it is wrapped with controversy and mystery. lol

BUT, you don't have to 'Know' a person to care about that person. EVEN if often the care is because of suffering or trauma. smile

My thoughts anyway!

It's Button Therapy, Baby!

Yes.

Your question got me to thinking (and when I think, baby pandas die). What does "separate the art from the artist" that I bandy about so obnoxiously really mean to me?

I think it means that I don't have to turn my inferior understanding off, shut my theorized walk down, I just have to challenge myself to make sure it never trespasses.

In other words, you probably can't create without implicating your soul, but I always try to carry out the investigation in humility (in theory, even if I'm sued).

He deserves no happiness. He should be forced to listen to Honey Boo Boo Child sing at Paisley Park while cutting an out of date house/dance pop music album of neverending sessions. That's for Carmen Electra, how ya like them apples? lol

We should just admit what we all really want. I won't tell him. We want to boot him in the keister and see how far he flies. It's perfectly healthy to say that, and if you think about it, a "Boot" is very close to the word "reboot" You are rebooting his spirit by kicking him in the arse. When you ponder on that concept, you realize this is more for his benefit & growth as a human being.

In a sense it is very spiritual and we all must come to terms to help Prince we need to be harsh w/ him. Booting him will be like rebooting a frozen operating system. W/ that said, let's all line up at paisley park to boot him in the ass, booting him again & again=reboot. I bet you Allan Leeds calls us and says "Outstanding work! " lol

That's only truly possible if you actually know the person. Outside of that a fan knows is the showbiz personality and showman.

People that do think they care about him as a person but don't know him, are simply imagining the person, kind of like imagining caring for Santa Claus.

Santa is your parents. This guy sang sooloooooo.

what? lol

The gap between a real relationship and a consumer of art/entertainment is infinitely wide.

But I don't think that means you know nothing and turn off all emotion. Although my self-deprecating humor would quickly suggest that I know nothing.

Prince has done countless things to create great cynicism, and it could be easily argued that this is all quite well deserved. But I don't know or care about the person enough, outside of simple humanistic feelings, to become so cynical, so self assured.

Yes, but to an extent. I loved the hell out of him back in the day and still do to an extent even now even though he acts a bitch sometimes these days. But not to the point of obsession like a "fam" would who agrees with everything he says and thinks every single thing he makes can do no wrong. Even back in the day, I was never one of those...."I don't care what Prince releases as long as he's happy" or "Don't try to put Prince in a box because that's not what he wants" type people. Fuck that. I still live in reality and as a consumer, I don't give a damn what Prince wants, I only give a damn what I want.

how interesting mmmmm

ure one of the girls whos always ME ME ME ME ...

dont give a damn what he wants except for urself hmmm

Do I care about my neighbor as a person?

No!

Only as an owner of a dog that is too noisy. Did he pay his dog-tax?

Did Prince explain his past deeds well enough?

Did Prince provide us well enough with physical media?

Did Prince provide us websites at reasonable prices?

Did we forget about the past?

No, I am not basing mr Prince. I am just asking how we can balance stuff.

Leave it to Udo to spill some sarcasm all over this thread! But in response to your question, he left us with a lot of excellent music, that's good enough for me. What he does in his personal life is of no concern to me. Well, I am interested, otherwise I wouldn't be on this thread on this site.

GIOShokadelica

Well, Prince has brought a lot of hapiness and Inspiration to my life since I became a fan...

His songs has been the soundtrack of my life during this last two years. Whenever I remember of the day I graduated from Highschool/the first time I traveled alone/My first piercing/the first day of university/The first time I had my own money, I think of Prince. So of course I care about him -I'm not a yesman, I don't like all his music and I don't agree with everything the man does... And sometimes he pisses me off- And I don't claim to know him, cuz I'm 16, But I want him to be happy as a person!

You'd have to ask the Secretary General of the United Nations that. I'm sorry, but I do not know him or I would ask him that on your behalf.

It's obviously an error, because we all know "Databank" exists. At least they aren't blaming it on that troublemaker, userID 156.
