This will be a limited seating screening on a large screen in the club celebrating an amazing week.
If you’re familiar with the Dakota’s floor plan, we’re closing the curtain and and have set up a large screen on the stage, so sight lines will be great.

The kitchen will not be open, but we’ll serve up some popcorn and the bar will be open.

Yeah good idea but of course eventually someone will put it up on youtube or on a site where it can be downloaded for free so I doubt that Prince would ever go for something like that

Be so nice if he released this on dvd... we can only hope

Given the hot and cold reviews the Chicago shows got, I suspect this as well.

But this is a good sign. Hopefully a sign of an upcoming DVD release :fingerscrossed:

As ethically/logically stupid I find this concept, watch as fans fork out the money.

I have no sympathy.

if it was night 1, it wasn't worth paying to see live, let alone paying to watch a dvd of it in a restaurant.

On the Spreecast the other week, Dr F said that he'd talked to Prince about it and said that people wanted live DVDs of concerts. Apparently Prince responded by suggesting that he have video nights at Paisley where anyone who wants to see them can come and watch (much like what's happening at Dakota tonight, I guess).

The doc had to explain that most people couldn't physically get to PP to do that and even those that could would still want the DVD to take home and watch over and over again.

It's kinda sweet, if not a little frustrating - quite a "let them eat cake" sort of moment...

And to be fair to Mr. P, fans will pay up.

I would absolutely pay to go and see it if I was there.

I don't have any issue with him having these movie nights - especially if he eventually moves them to PP (as long as he provides popcorn - the no fluoride stuff, of course).

I just hope he decides to also release some of the live stuff on DVD for those who can't be there.

I'd pay a good $30 -40 maybe more for an official dvd

Kinda cool but at the end of the day...it's a waste of time.

For all the moaning Prince does about record company economics and such, he really shows that sometimes he truly doesn't get "economics".

I see myself in these comments wishing for a dvd- who amongst us hasn't- but for some reason Prince is under the impression that it's of no importance, despite the fact that we've all begged for years, after each tour, after each residency, after each aftershow.

After he bailed on live a Musicology dvd (and the shabby ONA Vegas DVD), I bailed on begging. I've contented myself with the audience shot releases, some of which are thankfully above par.
