Hmmm... So it's up to me to do some self reflecting when I complain about something, but not for you when you complain about something.... Interesting. Why does it matter to you what I think? Why do you bother posting in threads you disagree with? This "quit complaining" game goes both ways, you realise.

"The complaining is fine but what are the people complaining doing on their part to end the cycle?" - Honestman13

As for myself Prince's games don't impact me to the point of frustration. I listen to the music and either like it or not but I agree to stop complaining about you complaining.

Damn. Why are u so sensible? lol. Prince's fans are getting older at a faster rate then Prince is. They are grumpy and want everything to be simple and straight forward. I love that Prince is unpredictable and goes left when others go right. All this angst over 3rdeyegirl is just stupid. Either enjoy the mystery or just go sit down somewhere and be old with your bills and kids.

Nobody is forcing anybody on this ride.

That's how I see it as "a ride". I know I can get off whenever I choose. Some others haven't gotten that yet.

And yet here were are on an "independent and unofficial Prince fan community site" talking about how we're tired of Prince's behavior and games.

Well, i could always go and check the "official webite" i suppose. Oh, wait, no I can't. There isn't one.

I come here periodically because I like the music and I get more news here than anywhere else. Plus, in pointing out that "here we all are" posting on this site, you glossed over my point about how more and more dead this place has gotten over the last decade or so. Shit, we're lucky we haven't been shit down.

We're not all still here. Many of us have left or post with ever decreasng regularity. And where would you suggest we post ideas and thoughts about our favorite musician? If you've got a good link, share it with the group.

I've got a good link for you:

http://tilthedawn.org

This fan site has been up for a while, has most of the features of prince.org as well as some that prince.org doesn't have. It is run by an orger, Claire. It just needs people to go and post there.

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.

Thanks, electricberet. Yes, but is it OFFICIAL (rolls eyes)? And are we allowed to post things we don't like there? I'm happy posting here, when I post, but I'm tired of people who think Prince is too cute for school posting here telling everyone who has a gripe to just leave (especially when a lot of people have) and generally ignoring the content of what people post, a lot of which has merit and is worthy of debate. What great fun the org will be once it's down to 50 die hard fans who would each take out a second mortgage to support Prince, all jerking each other off and glad handing one another and telling people they dislike to leave instead of posting thoughtful ideas, criticism and opinions on the music.

It broadly skips my point, but thanks for the link anyway.

You ain't lying. Just release the damn music and keep the games. Honey, I'm 45, I ain't got time for games these days. In other words, either shit or get off the pot.

As for the mystery stuff, he can hang that up. That played out when he started talking in the 1990s. And even if it hadn't played out, this is the internet age now and he can hang that mystery stuff up because if he so much as farts, somebody is going to record it on their cell phone and post it on the internet.

I don't care if he's "normal". I kind of perfer he's not. It's one of the things that keeps me interested.

But god damn, like vainandy said, I'm 45 also and I have a son to raise, a wife and better things to do with my time than chase prince around on the internet, some cheap tabloid, a cickenshit website or wherever the fuck he is from day to day. My point, and my contention, is about people who just go "why don't you just leave if you hate it so much?"

Then people say they stay because they enjoy the music and like having a place to talk about it (even if they don't like particular parts of it), then other people tell them to get lost, as if that will make this place more interesting. Quite the contrary. It's gotten more and more dull the more Prince fucks with his fans and rips them off at every turn.

I'm speaking as a fan since 1982, so I know what I'm talking about. It's too much fucking work just to earn the priviledge of spending my money on this guy's art.

I agree. I'd rather have people speak their minds. What's the point in everyone nodding at each other all day. Ying and Yang's much better.

I've been into him since about '83 myself. Believe me, I've had my fair share of fuck ups from him. Thing is, after all the pissing about you're 'lucky' if any of it's any good these days.

I don't expect anyone to be 'normal' especially P. If someone told me they were normal I'd have em checked up by a doctor.

This thread started because Toejam was tired of the games and stuff that Prince does(obviously triggered by the 3rdEyeGirl deal) not about the music. If the games are that bothersome then why do you still follow them and Prince? If it's because you enjoy the music then you should've accepted the games part ages ago since he's been playing them since the 80's. Also at this point why is anyone expecting a change from Prince regarding how he does things? I can understand the frustration but either you choose to deal with it or you don't. As Tricky99 said, "Nobody is forcing anybody on this ride." herb4 you said it best that you've got better things to do with your time than chase Prince around on the internet. I'm asking why do these posters still chase him around the internet if it frustrates you so? I'm not saying to leave the site but then why focus on the part that annoys you instead of the "good old days" threads that would make you happier?

Are we "chasing him around the internet"? Is posting an opinion contrary to Prince's on prince.org evidence of "chasing him around the internet"? Dude, just accept the fact that people will speak out when they find something annoying. If you disagree, cool. Feel free to say so. But at what point do you "get off the ride" complaining about our complaining, and treating everyone with a contrary opinion as needing serious self-reflection? I'm always open to some self-reflection. But what about yourself? Why does it bother you so much that we find Prince's mystery tease games annoying? Why don't you just ignore us?

Because they are obsessed with Prince and too ashamed to admit it. If I was Prince I would be honored to know that people just cant walk away. This goes beyond just voicing your opinion. If an artists makes you that upset or stressed over and over, or you have been dissappointed in his music for 15-20 years and feel dissappointment with each new output, AND continue to follow Prince then yeah, that's an obsession. That's my opinion.

Speaking for myself I think this 3rd eye stuff is silly and a waste of my time. I'm not taking any time to figure out anything or care about mysteries. When there is a show announced or a song dropped I pay attention. I don't allow anything to get me upset. Prince is just a musician with a catalog of incredible music, he's not the president of the US or some government officials who affect my life. I also have a life and this is not that serious.

Cool. So you're basically agreeing with my original post. But is anyone really getting "upset" here? Is anyone really taking it all that seriously? Does stating that this 3rdEye stuff is silly and a waste of my time (which is really all I said to begin with) mean that you too are "upset"?

Yeah but its not a rant. It's more like whatever shrug and my point is if you find yourself venting ranting or criticizing for years then its time to walk away from Princey. He's a stranger and a musician. Its not important.

You know, that's what I've been like for most of the time as a fan. I'm normally the one posting stuff like "Well, just ignore it, he didn't have to release anything, be thankful!" etc., etc. ... And then the one time I do post something that says I think what Prince is doing is silly, I get shot down as being a hater, or an obsessive, or requiring serious self-reflection etc. At least that's the way it's coming across to me. I thought the little wink in my original post would get people to see that it's not all that big a deal, but obviously people missed that. Ah well. Goddam we humans see things in black and white way too much lol.

Anyway, on that note, I think I'm done with this thread. Interesting POVs all around. It's just nice to know that there are many others who also think these tease games are becoming predictable and annoying.

Anyone who asks " why Prince can't just be normal " when it comes to anything obviously hasn't been paying close enough attention....he has never nor will ever be like the others which is a big reason we all follow his music and career ... What I would really love is a true surprise. To wake up one morning and bam! there's an awesome new album. No build-up, no teasing - just flippin' dazzle me on the spot.

I want to call in sick to work so I can go to the wrecka stow the second it opens and buy a vinyl album, then have to endure the mounting excitement on the way home because the album's on vinyl and I can't just crack it open and play it in the car. Then I get home and find a download code in the album, so I can listen to it anywhere I want.

I want new music and an experience. Prince hasn't delivered one of those in awhile.

I couldn't agree with you more. I would love nothing more than that. I think that the closest we ever got to that was with the release of the "Exodus" album. Imho opinion one of his most faithful R & B flavoed albums an an more black than the "Black Album. And also an album that was fresher than the "Gold Expeience" and also one of my favorite albums out of the whole catalog. The more Prince hypes a new release the weaker it tends to be." Even though credited to the NPG, "Exodus" took the majority of us by surprise when it was released. From, "Count the Days" to the "Good Life" to "Hallucination Rain", Prince really took us in an unexpected journey with that record. " Count the Days" is a classic to me and "Hallucination Rain" is a track that he's never done berfore of since. Prince had something to prove on that album and it really shows.

I totally agree!

How I so hope for this to come again! I love 'Exodus' and where he went with that album!A total unexpected journey! How I wish for this to come again!

I believe it can, and will!

Prince just likes to surprise people..never doing things that we are expecting him to do..

He is testing his audience as well, feeling the temperature here and there..surfing on a fast or soft tide..

Why asking him to be "normal", what is the proper definition of "a normal person"? there isn't any normality...!!

Beside, being normal for Prince, doesn't have the same definition of being normal for anyone else..

As a gemini, his normality deals with and constantly, 2 sides..this is his way of being "balanced"..

Let him Be himself, Live and Let live please..

Wait until a surprise comes wink
