Well I for one am grateful for the recent stuff like the Parade demos, work in progress, Box o Chocolates being released free by 'the chosen few'.

And as always, Eye just takes those amazing free releases and sells them for profit. To be honest, if I had unreleased stuff, that would stop me from sharing more.

I, too, am VERY grateful. I was refering to the comment that Connections was cancelled because the chosen few didn't want out, because then they wouldn't be special anymore... confused

One time again, I don't see the problem.

For me it is simply an addition, not a substitution.

And it is my simply choice to pay Eye (or Sab) for a CD or not, I can't see in which way I can damage anyone.

What if those who shared stuff in the past for free stop sharing because they don't want bootleggers profiting from the stuff?

It's entirely your choice to buy this stuff or get it free.

But I wouldn't hold your breath on many new boots being released for free for you to then purchase from Eye, etc...

Who does it damage? Us.

I think the "elite" folks have known since forever that bootleggers re-release past bootlegs, wheither they been previously released for free or not, so I don't think that's the issue or they'd never have shared a thing in the first place.

And also I think only a very small minority of people (either hardcore collectors or unaware new fans) still buy these releases because it makes little sense: I understand collecting genuine official CD's, but what's the difference between an illegal, unofficial bootleg and an illegal, unofficial CD that was burnt at home with a self-printed cover? None lol

I think (because of some hints here and there) that there may actually be some debate among the "elite", with some wanting to leak and others not wanting to, and the first ones trying to convince the second ones, with the whole notion that they will avoid releasing this stuff without everyone's approval. This may be the reason why an "unauthorized" leak of Perfect had caused a delay or cancelation in the "authorized" release of Connections. All this is only personnal theory, though: fact is that I don't know shit.

It's also very likely that everyone involved is reading this, so I hope the high interest we have in seeing more stuff like Box Of Chocolate, Parade Demos, Exodus V1 & V2 and 10000 Wallpaper will have some influence on their decisions regarding future releases. Save a few greedy bootleggers which will soon be extinct, everyone just want to hear this precious music for... the love of this precious music, so I hope whoever has tapes will understand this and be generous again smile

Wait...Exodus V1?! I have V2. I didn't know there was V1. Tracklist, anyone?

Exactly. Have you noticed the outstanding "free" releases we were getting have more or less stopped?

You hit the nail on the head!

I am an "old school" collector and I don't understand the need for a factory pressed CD when you can download the music in lossless FLAC files, burn the CD yourself and print out the artwork for a fraction of the cost of paying Eye Records for their latest rip-off of a free release. I have over 500 boots downloaded, all lossless, and hundreds more to go. The way it should be, all free.

To each their own but I refuse to pay for a pressed CD in this day and age. I personally enjoy downloading all of Eye's releases as FLAC for free so they don't see a penny. Not a fan of their repackaging of free releases, kind of a BS move.

I bought new boots the other day. High-heeled chukkas in tan nubuck, with a stack heel. They're gorgeous! nod

Watch out! You're going to get a lot of FLAC for that pun.

Exactly. And for the record, I would GLADLY pay Prince for all of this type of material. I pay for officially released material. Always. I WISH I could put the money in his pocket, but we all know the story why that isn't so.

I spent hundreds on bootlegs back in the day, vinyl and CD. But that was before we had the downloading options we have now. One of the positives of downloading is how it changed the bootleg game. Fans are always going to want live shows, studio outtakes, etc. But if the artist isn't getting that money, neither should a bootlegger. Very thankful it is all available for free and grateful to those who take the time to upload them so we can grab them.

I could care less what anyone says. I will always pay 4 factory-pressed boots and I will still download free releases as well. But U gotta remember, it's hard 2 find the free releases online unless U have nothing better 2 do with your time but search for hours & hours!! Yes, I know that it's "work" but some of us fans don't have the time... So it's easier 2 just go ahead & pay. Now if fans really want 2 put the bootleggers out of business, start sharing the sites for these "free releases", but no one will do that 4 a number of different reasons. And I can understand that. So in the end it's a catch 22, U know?

Although pre-internet I purchased bootlegs all the time, these days, I wouldn't know where to buy one. I have no problem finding the files to download though. I use Google. Just type what you're looking for in the search engine and it will direct you to the files. No need for anyone to share a link.

wink

I don't know what nonsense you must be typing into whatever search engine you are using for it to take several hours to find a bootleg. But if you use it properly, it should take seconds. Not hours.

LOL, EXACTLY! What a sorry excuse. "Unless you have nothing better to do with your time".

I have a VERY limited amount of free time yet in the last year have managed to download roughly 450 boot titles, many of them multiple disc sets. Google is your friend. You find what you're looking for and let it download while you do other things. There are programs that do all the work for you and let you download all day long. But I guess some people are just too lazy...ERR.... I mean busy.

I could care less if someone wants to throw their money at pressed discs, that is their choice. But the old "It's hard to find the free releases" excuse is lazy and tired and simply not true. And it does not even apply to free releases, pretty much the entire Sabotage catalog can be found in lossless. Again, Google is your friend. How the F can you not know how to properly use a search engine in 2012?

This isn't really on topic, but it would be great if someone with artistic skills could come up with decent cover artwork for "Perfect Unreleased Prince." The existing cover art with Prince's face blacked out is really weird.

The Census Bureau estimates that there are 2,518 American Indians and Alaska Natives currently living in the city of Long Beach.
