Let's see if it works out for Mariah. She was originally on hiatus just like Prince is now.

The only thing American Idol will do to help the judge's career is have your music video shown or let you perform as a musical guest. They did that for J-Lo with that "On The Floor" song.

well it certainly worked for JLo. she ended up with some hits out of it. in fact, it managed to delude her addled brain so much that she thinks she needs to get back to her own career and leave Idol.... apparently forgetting that she no longer had a career without the weekly exposure that Idol gave her.

some people disbelief

Who's to say she left willingly? The ratings are down 25%-The producers probably let her quit to save face. Why spend 12 mill on jlo if the ratings are down? if ratings maintained or increased then the story would be different. Plus, if the ship sinks further in the ratings (say next year) then Jlo would have to take blame (not worth the risk).

she's been talking like this for at least 3-6 months though. I wouldn't be surprised if she was fired. however, if they were letting her save face, she would have just gone ahead and done it instead of dragging it out over the course of several months.

Ratings have been down-this could all be done to save face.

Nah - I think these shows suck & I am not sure he would want to commit to that time period of time?

I really liked the comment the other "orger" made though about the funny faces he would pull - it would be so fabulous to see that !!!!

And he would not hold back in showing he hated an act -

Now I wish he would do it just so we can see this !!!! razz

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

Not like he's doing much now anyways. lol

You people seem to forget that he's on hiatus. He just finished a tour down under. Prince can't be doing something ALL the time just because he released an album every year in the 70's, 80's, and 90's.

I hate to pile on but as unbelieveably talented as Prince is, his track record for picking and developing talent is poor at best. Next to that, the last thing I'd let him do is design an album cover or produce a video. Given, it would do wonders for the show's ratings (I'm sure I'd watch), but really Prince's greatest talent is being Prince... biggrin

Too many people would think he's weird. And he is, but makes fantastic music too.

What you all talking about??? The judges on AI are not the ones who pick the winner! They are there for the ratings! And is the audience who do the voting!

And as for JLo, the reason she was dragging all those rumors for long is because she was negotiating and asking for more money, like 2 million more than the last year, AI didn't give her what she wanted and they told her to quit. She just got too greedy and forgot how she got her career back because of AI.

Prince should play less hits.

Prince should petition to stop teh AI thing: real talent made its way before AI so it can do without the hellavision spectacle that is AI. Stars don't get fabricated. Real stars show themselves over time.

Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.
