I forgot how great his guitar work was on Large Room, I think it's superior to the one he does on the Montreaux set IMO. He also fleshes out Journey 2 The Center very nicely. Wonder if I'll see myself bobbing to this one. Where were you sitting/standing Jon1967?

Just saw the trailer for a new dvd from Eye Records of the 3rd show in Prince's 3 shows in one night 2 promote "LotusFlow3er" back in March of 2009. It's pro shot and will probably generate as much buzz as the Montreux dvds. Of course I cant post the link 2 the trailer here, but it's out there. The dvd is supposed 2 be released January 10,2012. And in case someone is not aware, no it's not an official release. Yes,it is a bootleg.

Who the fuck cares dude? . I mean really the people he hired to run the site were so horrible fans were able to get stuff for free. It does not sound like a site that the fans were interested in paying money for content and it was administrated poorly but I know you expected P to run the website and continue to pour money into a losing venture.

Go get your boot and stop boring us with your comments.

Not a waste of my time, because I'm talking to you directly and I enjoy immensely talking to people directly, whereas you post the same crap daily as if the left nut of the person its directed to gave a shit. At the end of the day,it's not your money, its not your career, its not your life. Don't get so invested in it. What you don't recognize is that people like you and Bart and the flip side of the same coin of a Prince fanatic for whom he is a god who does no wrong. You all are waaaayy too emotionally invested in the life of someone you don't know. Just chill out sometime.. it does the body good! comfort

Back to thread subject - please!

As I speak directly to you, as well. So, we're both even there. And believe you me, I (and I'm sure Bart as well) aren't invested in shit. I see something that I agree or disagree with, I'm going to make a comment on it. Where do you get someone typing a comment as being "emotionally invested"? Exaggerate much?

i have heard for soooooo many years people griping or pleading 4 prince 2 release dvd's in pro shot form better than what live at the alladan was and yet when someone comments that he could have done things like this release, wow the attacks begin. simply amazing!

i'm glad this release is coming out and it would be fantastic that the conga show would come out in dvd as well. imo the best two gigs from this night are the conga show and this show now coming out on dvd.

i'm gonna have 2 dig out my copy of these shows again..well the 1st gig i can kind of SKIP hehehe

man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

I have always had a wee soft spot for the 2008/9 period of live material. From Hotel Gansevoort and Conga/Nokia etc, up through Montreux, Monaco and on to the Paris gigs, I found these gigs quite a joy to listen to. However, I was nonplussed when the Montreux dvd's were released but I have found myself enjoying them more since then.

Eye Records is not my favorite label (for reasons I shall not bore you with) and I would have liked to have seen these pro-shot dvd's released by people less driven by money, but alas, that is not to be.

The vast majority of us are not going to pay a penny for this release (which is good) so I think we should try and put aside our feelings about past failures in Princeland, and just try to look forward to this release for whatever it's worth.

No one is forcing anyone to obtain this show, and if you do take the opportunity to obtain and find you don't like it, then you can always delete it. Life is too short for stressing yourself about things that cannot be changed.

Merry Princemas everyone.

It's funny how perfect-quality/soundboard shit comes out a couple of years (up to 25 years) after the fact. It makes you wonder what other goodies people are sitting on, and what in the hell they're waiting on?! Are they not releasing it out of respect for Prince? If that ever was the case, they shouldn't have a copy of it themselves, more than likely.

Release whatever ya got, is what I say. We know "Mr. Perfection's" not going to do it!

They may have a less than perfect past. But look at what they put out during the last year. Not only this and Montreux, but many other things, like the W2A DVD's. It's a new label now and people should just be thankful, no matter if they pay for it or download it. Without Eye the unofficial stuff from the last year would have been very, very boring.

The video trailer promises a lot. Can't wait. Christmas will be a few weeks late this year. smile

And Merry Princemas!

I'm not going to get into a pressed Vs free label debate, but I will say that the releases such as Montreux and this new LA dvd have quite possibley been paid for with money made from selling (among other things, not exclusively) free label releases which have been repackaged and sold for high sums of money to unknowing (or caring) fans. Labels such as Eye are not getting this material for free. It may have been a nice gesture for them to give away one of these dvd's for free or at the least a much lower price considering the amount of money that has been made from other peoples hard work in the past.

Bringing us exclusive material now does not in my book make them the golden boys of unofficial releases and it never will.

As for whether unofficial releases would have been boring over the last year without Eye, well, that is entirely open to ones opinion. My opinion is that there have been many fantastic releases over the past 12 months, and were given to the fans for free.

Anyway, I for one am grateful for the Eye dvd releases, despite the process involved of bringing them to the public. Like I mentioned before, most of us will obtain these releases for free anyway.

Yeah, lets. Because the Eye releases Ihave gotten during the last year (not all of them, I admit that) have all been better than the free releases or downloads.

Maybe you didn't download the good stuff in that case.

I know Eye did, because they released quite a bit from those free downloaded releases. wink

I pretty much try to stay away from Eye CD releases. My cd burner won't copy 90 minute cds, and my computer is old, and don't have the funds to replace it. I've gone through countless attempts to change the recording settings to "overwrite mode," and many other tips, but my computer won't copy them. If I can't copy a Cd, I don't want it. Many of their 90 minute releases are simply adding filler anyway. You'd think that in a day where less and less people are buying pressed bootlegs, that the bootleggers would be smart enough to want to release cds that are like cds sold in stores.

Once more proof of how clueless Prince is. He could have made money by selling this online as streaming and/or a DVD or a Blu-ray. But nooooo, he was too busy screwing people who'd paid $77 for his lame-ass website.

Prince is clueless?

There's no point arguing with Bart. He has never created anything in his life that anyone would be interested in takling a part of.

Prince does what he does. When he shares stuff with us we should just say "thanks". He doesn't owe us anything. He doesn't owe us "being a great businessman". Get a life.

I think the money he makes touring far outweighs what he could make selling these kind of releases, from a pure profit point of view.

Still, I wouldn't mind actually having the chance to buy something like this
