Justin's only been around for 2-3 years. Will's saying he has the potential for career longevity.

I think he wants Justin to start taking chances because he's going to have to follow in Timberlake's shoes and transition the music into more adult themes, but at the same time, has to be careful to make them not too adult. It's a tightrope act he's going to have to walk in the next 5 years.

Being overrated has to do with the heaps of praise and hype they get. To me, U2 is an example of an overrated band. Especially from the mid 90s to now. All they have to do is put a new CD out and it gets awards. Bono takes his shades off on stage and he's being sincere. Edge hides his average guitar playing behind a wall of electronics.

If you have songs or favorite bands that you used to like back in the day, but makes you cringe or do violent things when you hear it, odds are, it's overrated.

And when the musicians themselves say they put out pure crap at the time and fess up to it years later, we all feel like suckers for buying into the hype.
