Oh, I was only trying to help you with a suggestion for your terrible everlasting problem that you can ONLY store music on pressed cds...

You asked 'How do I store this?', but your mates don't have that problem: judging by the amount of 4DF stuff Sabotage has stolen they seem to not dislike digital storage at all if that means they will be able to use other people's work for their own benefit.

yeahthat

I don't know what pressed boots cost these days, haven't bought any since I got my first CD burner 13 years ago, but, I used to buy them all the time, and back then, they were $25-$35 per disc. Let's say for the sake of argument they are still $25 per disc... It wouldn't take long to save that money and buy an external hard drive and a digital music player.

Anybody who buys pressed boots because they can't store or play digital isn't thinking very far ahead.

I'm not talking about those that just simply prefer pressed boots and don't mind giving their money to someone who isn't Prince for his work, just those that buy because they don't have the storage or player to go digital.

^But he wasn't saying that because he can't store stuff digitally. Of course he can.

He was just trying to offer a very lame reason for people to keep on buying pressed cds.

Oh.

Well fuck that, then. Download boots! Buy official. Unless it's out of print, then, do what you gotta do... biggrin

I downloaded this set but have held off on listening (still absorbing Melkweg 2nd Nite and Undertaker), but this is not my favorite show. Wonderboy was one of my first boots ever but I mainly loved the movie soundtrack, lol. For some reason, the SOTT tour leaves me a little... stiff.

You do not effectively address the storage question yet litter the stage with baseless accusations. You imply there is better storage than CD's. Plezse elaborate.
Furthermore there is no information why `this version` should be an improvement. No info on generation, nor tweaking, etc. So please feel free to explain.

In an " honest with yourself " way, I get why some are dismayed with the way Prince puts out shows now as supposed to this particular time period, there's no doubt this was his zenith, peak and uber alles form. Hearing this now along with Sendai and Nagoya, this group he was with were phenomenal, just flowing over with talent and appeal. His current group, as much as I love them, would get run off the court never to show its face again. Fuck five stars, this show alone deserves 95. I'm in total awe, twentyfour years after the fact. Thanks to all involved for putting this out there.

This. A million times!!!!

Why keep on releasing tidbits of the boring ass 15th-23rd incarnations of the NPG when his previous bands had SO much more energy and pizazz (let alone Prince's performances were much higher in energy back then too)???! The dude makes no sense. He just doesn't want people to see or be reminded of just how good he USED to be. So that when they see him in concert now, they might be disappointed because they'll say, "This wasn't nearly as exciting and funky as that recording from 1986 (or 1987 or 1988 or 1983 or...) he just released!" lol

I don't give a fuck about the storage question. Neither do you: you just mentioned the storage because it's the old lame excuse you use to tell people that they should BUY pressed bootlegs (and if they are from Sabotage, the better).

False accusations? Have you the guts to deny that Sabotage has snatched quite a lot of stuff by 4DF? Can you deny that they have done that again very recently with the First Avenue 1986 concert on the last volume of City Lights? I know you're crazy, but I didn't know you could be so cheeky.

Regarding the tweaking part, just grab it and read the liner notes.

At this point in time, the 'marvellous' treble fest Sabotage did with their 'Sign O'The Times' live has been absolutely outdone by fans: FBG did a better version of the audio from the movie, DFB did a better version of the 21.03.87 gig at First Avenue, and now 4DF has vastly improved the 17.06.07 (two tracks being from Utrecht 22.06.87).

So a pressed disc may be beautiful (especially if it brings monetary returns to some) but NOW if fans want to listen to the REALLY BEST SOUNDING versions of those gigs they'll have to use flac files or CDrs.

WOW!!!! WHAT A FABULOUS RELEASE!!!! Such a shame that it's not the entire concert though (couldn't 4DaFunk used the Utrecht gig to fill in the missing songs i.e.' If I was U're Girlfriend', 'Kiss' & '4Ever in My Life'?)

Anyway, totally happy with this awesome recording!!!!

Can anyone give me the name of the DFB release of the 21/3/87 First Avenue concert? Just out of interest........

The answer and also the way the answer was formulated say enough.

As this item has a high chance to be pressed sometime in the near future I'll wait for now.

All downloaders: Enjoy!

Of course, I'm sure you'll wait for the Sabotage version...

I don't know what your job is, but I wonder how would you feel if someone stole your work and sold it for a profit.

But I'm sure you DID ACTUALLY grab this download and listened to it. That's why you know it 'has a big chance to be pressed sometime in the near future'...

Either I missed a post or you haven't yet said a word about Sabotage stealing the work of 4DF, FBG, etc...

Seems that the 'accusations' are not that 'baseless'...

A BEAUTIFUL NIGHT (DFB) March 21st 1987

THIS IS A REHEARSAL (FBG) March 21st 1987

SIGN O'THE TIMES LIVE REVAMPED (FBG) The audio from the movie (off the Canadian DVD)

PARIS 17.06.87 (4DF)

If you have these, you can throw Sab's 'Sign O'The Times Live' far and out in the wild. Even if it's (oooooooooooooh!) a pressed set.

i still don't understand why you would pay alot of money for something that's available free when Prince doesn't even profit from it, it baffles me. neutral

In my opinion, this release is a testimony to the most muscular and successful tour Prince put on in terms of musicianship, mystique, pop sensibility, and general undeniable coolness. The tone, the arrangments, the emphasis on the concept of the album and its new tracks, the look, the set, the attitude are all working together very well.

The only low points are a bum note in the solo on "Never Take the Place" and the slightly boring retread and arrangements of the Purple Rain material.

I think there is a lot of value in this being a real soundboard of an actual show without the additional edits and post production that's in the audio of the movie. The movie is great, but there are a few moments that are pretty fake (mainly during "Forever in my Life")

Yeah, this is why I really can't get down with his live shows much anymore. When you've seen and heard the absolute best an artist has to offer, them half-assing it just doesn't cut it for me anymore. People praise and praise his current live output like it's God reincarnated, and granted, there truly are some funky moments here and there. But it's absolute SHIT when compared to how he and his bands USED to get down. It's downright depressing in comparison, when you think about it.

ALL of his tours/shows from 1980 until 1989 were downright incredible! Fuckin' fantastic! You can possibly even argue extending that into the Nude Tour in 1990, if you want. Though, those shows started to show many more cracks in his armor than ever before.
