People Pleaser was a tiresome funk drawl that never got off the ground. The other track whatever boring 'we are funky' thing it was called - these are live jams not songs, reminds me of 97/98 era - I expect the next album (lol) to be full of 'Freaks On This Side' kind of duffers. zzz

I guess it was because of the live arrangement and because it was a poor choice to sing it at a TV show. The arrangement needs to be way more fat, especially during the chorus, and you need a second rhythm guitar.

But I'd absolutely love to hear the studio version; this is finally a funky track with interesting harmonies and melodic lines. However, I'm afraid that Prince didn't write it, but that it is indeed her single...

Did you really find the first track that boring? There were some nice rhythm patterns to it and it sounded a bit more edgy than what he did recently. It may not be the grand progression, but still a step in an okay direction.

^ The whole thing was boring. Who needs another 'we are funky' type track - show it, don't say it.

I haven't found Prince live engaging for a while now, so take my view with a pinch of salt.

I really enjoyed that performance even though it seemed clunky in some places. Thanks so much for posting the link. Prince's outfit made me giggle!

Just wondering why Andy didn't speak any French during the interview. Isn't she Cameroonian?

I seriously love this band. drums, bass, 2 keyboards and rhythm guitar. i wish everybody would cut Andy some slack. she's new to the band and her mic as well as her guitar had technical problems. Plus remember, another prince guitarist who everybody praises wasn't as polished. Listen to when Wendy has a few mess ups in the '84 b'day show. I agree, shelby j has a great voice but she needs to understand she's just a background singer & stop playing the flava flav hype man role.

3) in the beginning of the interview, Prince apologize for his outfit, said that he just got off the plane and he was dressed this way for his previous show in Montreal, and said that he didn't sleep. He said also that he loves Paris.

LOL, no way he was dressed like this in the Montreal shows, he was much much sexy-stylish and less hidden behind scarf, sunglasses and hat!!

You better apologize for your outfit, don't hide those eyes of yours!

Yeah, I love Graffiti Bridge movie, so what? ''Oooooooooooh Montreal, say it!''

neutral Compare this to some songs played in leno 2001-2004 (dorothy parker, everlasting now, musicology) the band was WAY tighter back then. First two songs were messy as hell. Please fire shelby and those other stage ornaments as well. It got better to the end, anotherlover was cool, too bad he didn't play the whole version of Shh.

He did but canal + edited it!!!! I was watching the live stream, when it was live. And he did the full Shhh. wink

So is there a chance someone will upload it?

No...youre not the only one....did you also notice that the guitarist Andy Allo didnt have a fucking clue how to play guitar or even turn it on

What the hell is going on in his world - he used to be sharp and surrounded by teh best...now he looks like a transvestite hobo with Texas Tornado boots and has band members who cant even turn their instruments on and completely ignore his stage direction to stop playing

didn't he apologise 4 his appearance cuz they'd been travelling & then said he was wearing her stuff?!! lol he was joking tho..

those boots were like from the dirty mind days.. like high heeled moccasins!! & his skinny lil legs in those leggings kinda remind me of the stocking variety back then too

It was actually painful to watch - a shambles. Musicians who didnt know how to play, microphones not working, Prince fiddling with things on stage and grunting everyother word "time - ha - to get - ha - funky ha").

Is that Shelby? Good on her giving hime the 3 finger salute behinbd his back on 17:40

cool performance, I agree with those who say P. seems really relaxed and laidback sorta like an afterparty show.

Most fascinating for me was seeing P.'s guitar get out of tune and how he dealt with it on live TV. First off, in all of the Prince footage I've ever seen I can't remember EVER hearing him play out of tune, which is crazy remarkable in and of itself. And he's only outta tune here b/c he threw his le geetar into le crowd where them fools oogled it (as any tru fan would of course). Second, he doesn't miss a beat and instead of stopping the whole procedings just to tune or change guitars, he just gets the band started on ALHIYH and then calmly passes the offending axe to his tech, problem solved. great showmanship.

Andy Allo is fine as a mutha...but her guitar was down so low in the mix as to mostly be unheard. Didn't stop P. from scolding her to lock in with JB on DMSR. Or instructing her on a dance move in same song. She his next 'protege'?? If so, he's throwing her in the deep end!

All in all, I agree with those who say this was a great chance to see Prince in a looser setting than his concerts.

Yeah Prince's guitar going out of tune was cool. I, too, am not used to seeing him face those problems.

The full Shhh is just as amazing as I thought it would be.

I just really prefer when he plays the Orange strat to the Hohner. Not sure why.

This is not a dig, but damn, one thing I took away after watching this was that Prince is quite obviously more comfortable in a place like Paris than anywhere in the States. That performance was so loose, so funky...they were obviously having fun performing. That was probably the best television performance I have seen from him.

And the outfit...you have to admit he's toned it way down here in the states, but pulls out some shit like that for Paris? It was cool seeing him all "out like that instead of the same suit/different color motif he has had here for quite a while.

Maybe he feels that Parisians (or people outside of the US) are simply more open to hearing more than just Purple Rain. If he had opened up the George Lopez set with a jam that incorporated "Rave" and played "People Pleaser", as funky as it was, there would have been hell to pay!

I like "We Live 2 Get Funky"--but it builds off of "American Woman," right? (If that's already been covered, I apologize.)
