Most feminine would be....um......Well, most would say lovesexy because of outfits like this:

That shit was like Little Bo Peep meets Jenna Jameson(porn star that really is good at oral sex and screaming during sex)

But, whenever i see him interviewed in his very early years, his mannerisms aren't as "butched up" as his post-90's interviews. He seems quite gay in his early interviews.

As far as masculine, falloff.... OK, I'll bite.....

Perhaps Diamonds & Pearls. He was pulling girls heads back by the hair (ala Cream video), ripping dresses off ladies (ala Gett off), and totally showing that he was...ahem... thunder on da mic. lol

and then, it's complicated by this shit:

But let's face it. It's rock n roll. Even David Lee Roth had his momments:

I see you still have that sense of humor lol lol biggrin

well just like he said on Opra........he might have a woman trapped inside of him. lol eek

But i still think he is very manly for even having the courage to show his feminine side.....all guys have one! anyways to answer ur ?.........m=parade/diamonds and pearls/batman/now.....and im not gonna say purple rain because there were times when he looked rugged, and manly, but then there were times when he didnt so much. and f=lovesexy/dirty mind. To be honest i think his feminine side makes him even more attractive, if thats even possible.

Well he did let his eyebrows go masculine and big for the Lovesexy era, and his face on the album cover is completely masculine. Parade era had his face and eyebrows really femme and groomed slim. The Little Bo Peep outfit actually was more Robin Hood to me. And his body movements for the first half of Lovesexy were very masculine compared to some of the wyas he preened and pranced on Purple Rain or these days. The part where he sits and plays on the guitar during If I had a Harem is also more masculine: vocals, expressions, posture, his playing... and the hair could be interpreted as either womanly perm or.... George Washington founding father era (ribbons and all).

The bass and the drums has usually been some of the most masucline of all times. His voice though has often been used in a more feminine way. He was always using contrasts for entertaining qualities and art. Visually he was never completely feminine. He was androgyne, but still moving like both a very masculine man, and a flirty woman at once. His style was reflecting the nature of a sexually open minded woman, to show how he appreciated and reacted towards this behaviour. His sexually driven ballads was usually a mix between a seductive male, and a woman that is getting pleased by this man. But he wasn't neccesarily portrating the woman as the seduced one. Personally I sometimes feel like he is portraiting the man as an insecure and shy person that is showing a more feminine side towards a more "controlling" and bossy woman. His art has mostly been playing with the two sexes, and how they reflect eachother on behaviour.

Some are saying his Dirty Mind period was the most feminine. Yet I think his music back then had extra masculine attitude, and with an animal way of playing deep funk, it is even digestable to some "hard" guys mostly fan of rock and metal.

Check the album cover for his face. I think he let his eyebrows go, and he even toned down the eye makeup to look more natural. compare it to a parade era pic or even a pic today! As a matter of fact in the closeups of his face during The Cross I think he's not even got any eyeshade on, and minimal if any eyeliner. I think he was trying to be natural in the face for the Lovesexy look. The back cover of the program doesn't reflect how he looked in the concert, the videos or the album cover. The back cover of the of the program actually doesn't reflect any look he's ever had with the complete colorful drag makeup.

Adorecream

Feminine era, its a toss up between Purple Rain (That hideous cape thing he wore to the grammies) and Prince era (That leopard skin thing, hoop earrings and Fran Drescher style coiffure), that bitch was swinging.

Masculine era, well Prince is hardly masculine, but probably the Rave - Rainbow era, he looked a bit male like in some photos (Not the one of him with the haor do that had the stick up bits with a bow) and Rainbow Children as it was so sexist and homophobic, he was divorcing himself from his more overtly gay stereotype behaviour of the late 80s Lovesexy and Diamonds and Pearls phase.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

You are right in that! He had a lot of masculine over tones, and I can see that. George Washington and a host of many others...lol

That's not feminine, Prince was using pirate imagery and style in a good number of his outfits during Lovesexy

look up images of buccaneers and pirates and you'll see Prince's lovesexy look, it's from a time period... that's including the ruffled shirts, the long black trench with the big hat looks just like images of pirates

These below are very regular and masculine looks from Lovesexy

for me Parade & Lovesexy are toss ups

those 2 it seems like he showed very feminine looks and then very masculine

During these 2 1/2 of the time he whore suits with no flair hardly

he also hardly wore flamboyant makeup during either era too.

I agree, I don't think most people are really looking at the whole image nor where it comes from

Prince did a photoshoot where he put on almost clownlike makeup. But for the rest of the Lovesexy era his face was pretty clean. Makeup was hardly noticeable

Parade was very simplified to me, I don't think it was feminine, Prince just matched a lot of colors like the one with the blue suit yellow shirt he put the same colors on his eyes. I really don't see it as being feminine.

it would be more interresting to discuss which period was his most and least masculine era music wise. His looks adds nothing to his music except when studying his videos, looking on the album cover and seing him live. It's an image. But his way of playing and singing, maybe even dancing is more interresting.

I disagree, the clothing says alot about what kind of space he is in musically. Prince has always connect the image with the music, for him and the band as well as the proteges

what I meant... His visual style is probably giving him a reason for making music that suits his image and vice versa... but it is not interesting if you're leaving out the music. Atleast for music interested and musicians :/

What is masculine with his the music?

What is feminine with his the music?

How is he visually performing the two contrasts?

Is he sometimes being masculine and feminine at once?

If removing his falsetto and girly clothes, would people think that he still sounded and looked like a girly man?

Did this visual image make him a bigger star?

If not, would he be as interresting, and noticed?

Prince imo is noticed by many, even if he doesn't have as many listeners as Metallica and Iron Maiden.

The first pic mixes masculine/feminine, the second is the most masculine and the third is feminine mostly. To me.
