I really feel bad for our man Prince. He works his ass of but never seems to get ahead. Sure most of it is his own fault, but still, don't like seeing someone like him down. Especially at his age.

Hopefully things are not as bad as they seem and things turn up.

I'm sure he'll be fine but you gotta wonder...why does he always get into these types of situations? I really don't see why he's having these problems.

It's strange. But I do wish him well whatever happens with the concerts.

Yep....Prince is now gonna snub you Americans fans for this!!

Especially after asking him to tour so much!

I think it also because he's not such a rarity in LA, he lives there half the time so I guess the novelty factor wore off. When he came to London it was such a novelty and he hadn't been there for 5 years.

It's terrible isn't it. Poor little multi-millionaire going down in the history books as one of the most important recording artists of the latter 20th century, crying himself to sleep at night in his personal hand-made nightie after a meal prepared by his personal chef. *makes sad face and wrings out fists at temples*

Prince did his highly successful 21 nights in London and his Musicology 2004ever tour with AEG. Maybe he should go back with them. AEG owns the Staples center as well

I'm sure people would be willing to come from across the U.S. if he would give more advance notice than 1 week.

I know I would.

The same people aren't going to go to the same show 3 nights a week.

Especially in L.A.

There are diehard fans out there who have, but not enough of them to sell the arena out.

He should have announced all 21 dates when he said he was going to do it. That would have allowed people from all over to attend.

True...If I knew earlier I would have booked a ticket to make sure I can go in advance.

hell he should have just stayed here in Minnesota and just did 21 Paisley park gigs...good lord...all the money is HIS and no one elses...although it would get extremely packed some nights I'd assume. it gets HOT in there after a while.

Yeah, good point, its such a shame he doesn't do those anymore, they must have been fun. As an international fan I'd be interested in visiting Minnie if he was going to be there and doing concerts!

Yeah I think that Prince certainly enjoys his lifestyle, but that's not what makes him tick. He thrives in making and performing music. So in that regard I do sort of feel bad for him because it seems that he may not feel appreciated. Just sayin

Prince thought he sold out the NY shows, but there were so many tickets on stubhub and ebay......like THOUSANDS!!

So he got fooled into thinking they sold out.

Tried the same mess in NC, and you see what happened. Tons of ticket upgrades.

Now before that could happen in L.A. he did that bit on Lopez where he was "saving everyone some money in the Latino community, etc." thanks to the nice folks at Live Nation.

Ha!!

Then, same fucking thing happened in L.A. even with the lower prices.

Meanwhile, does anyone care except for the few people on the org?

Nope!

He will just move on and continue being a free artist with no business sense.

Well, I'm glad I didn't buy any airline tickets yet. I'd rather see him in a smaller venue anyway, so I hope he does continue to perform in L.A. for awhile.

Prince should be used to not paying his bandmembers.

John Blackwell stated at a drum demo that I went to that he's paid VERY well when he works for Prince.

It's weird the way that is written, it doesn't say they haven't been paid, it could mean that they've been paid weeks ahead. Guess we'll have to wait for more info to come out. I think they're usually paid a 'retainer', rather than per show, but don't know if that is still the case on this tour.

It's what my grandmother used to tell us kids: if you keep getting
into trouble with people and you're always blaming them, you should
take a long hard look at yourself because the problem is likely to
be you and not them. 1 friend could be wrong, even 2, but not all
the people you hang out with.

Prince has been painting himself into a corner since 1993 and I'm
simply amazed how he's managed to still even get meetings with a
lot of the people he deals with.

He's pretty much burned all his bridges, willingy and whenever
there's someone kind/stupid/uninformed/nostalgic enough to do
bussines with him, 9 times out of 10 prince will bute the hand
that feeds.

Anyone else wouldn't be able to get away with that shit bit he
does. I just hope he wakes up one day and does something good
for his own legacy, specifically the recorded music, which seems
to be the last thing on his mind since about a decade.
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I'm heading to LA from Australia tomorrow boxed

I planned the trip based on his pattern until now so that I would hopefully get to see 6 concerts.

Now I'm just going to enjoy a 10 day vacation regardless and cross my fingers for good news.

I wonder where this leaves Janelle Monae? Her website still has 13th listed as playing at the Forum...although no official source has confirmed he's not playing this Thurs/Fri/Sat yet, right? It's still not the latest he's released tickets (I think).

Ok, so I'm possibly clutching at straws...I have a 14hr flight ahead of me...I'm allowed wink

We are in a bad economy people and the price cuts are going on across the board. 21 shows in any city in any economy is going to be hard to pull off. The fact that he did as many as he did and did sell out some them is not bad. It helped out the Forum and a lot of people got a cheap night of entertain in the hood. Leave it Tom Joyner and the orgers to focus

Ok, so does anyone know exactly how many of the shows were sold-out or at least 75 percent full? I never really got an idea of just how many tickets were sold. So, the article says the Prince "fired" Live Nation but how do we know that it wasn't the other way around?

By the way, does Prince still have that manager (that kind of looked like Manuela, her name slips me), if so, perhaps she should be replaced. Thoughts?

Trolls be gone!

Bullshit. Prince couldn't have done this in 1988. Look at the US ticket sales for the Lovesexy tour.

The main problem is one of location.

Unlike London, LA isn't easily accessible to major cities around it. In London fans from all of Europe could get there with relative ease.

I love Prince more than many things, but this Minneapolis native can't afford to get out there even if the ticket is only $25. I'll wait for him to come home.
