his days at the box office are over unless, he is in a supporting role in a spike lee film or something of that nature.. also I think he would have to have a lot of major contemporary stars in supporting roles if he did a film again on his own, and it may end up straight to video like 3 chains of gold. but you never know with this guy right?

After watching UTCM and Purple Rain again, they were flawless as usual, especially Purple Rain, I decided to watch Graffiti Bridge too, but could not endure beyond Prince singing Tick Tick Bang, its just a whole of dated music videos tied together and the acting is so bad it could be an imitation of bad acting. Prince with white warpaint on his face, what was he thinking. I just took it off, after the words "There will peace for those who love God a lot" were rotting my brain, its such a simplistic lyric for a Prince song. Morris is just selfish, and Ingrid Chavez as Aura should be prosecuted by the Human Rights Council for such horrendous acting. And then I realised Prince actually made this movie and thought it was great. Come on. I think it should be used for torture at Guantanamo Bay or by the Taliban to make people talk.

UTCM flawless? That's why it won so many oscars, etc. lol... wink

Suffice it to say that Prince is not an actor, so he should try to act. Clarence Williams and the mom was real acting.

If I ever got to talk to Prince, that is that first thing I would ask him. I would like to see him make another film. I think people would be interested. The success of his last few tours have proven that he is hardly a 80s throwback act that people have forgotten.

A dramatic story set in real world - not a fantasy like Graffiti Bridge or CHerry Mooon - would be interesting.

I truly think that if he were given a cameo role in a decent movie and allowed a great director to direct him he would steal the show. I also happen to think that he would do a great comedic cameo, he could almost be the Morris Day of Hollywood!! i.e. steal the scenes from the main star!!.

I can't, but at the same time I can see him doing something for spike because they are friends, not a huge supporting role but something that is a little more than a cameo.

I've always had a concept for a movie which would kind of be a "Reverse Sign O' The Times". The movie would focus on several groups of fans preparing for, and traveling to a Prince concert. There would be footage of Prince's stage crew setting up at the venue, some backstage footage (where Prince doesn't say much, just gives looks lol), and some footage of an actual soundcheck. But the main stars would be the fans and the storyline would center around their lives, friendships, and the madness leading up to attending a concert in a comedic fashion. I've even got a great anticlimactic ending for the movie, the friends all try desperately to get into a club for the aftershow, there, conflicts between the friends come to a rise - some resolved, some are not. Prince (who never even planned on doing an aftershow) is asleep in his hotel room lol. A movie like this would have a kick ass soundtrack of previously unreleased tracks (HINT: a way for Prince to actually release many of those fan favorite "outtakes"). And Prince really wouldn't have to "act" in the movie. I do realize that this sounds very similar to "Love4OneAnother", but I think with the popularity of reality TV and mocumentaries this could be a very successful endeavor

He won't.

He survived the Garffiti Bridge situaation and learned from it.

Other things make him more money.

Such as not paying taxes or after court cases, so he thinks.

Look at what he asks for a concert: around $1.5M (US).

See how he releases his discs. If he would get just $1 for a CD, he gets millions per newspaper release.

Why do a movie?

Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

I don't think a movie studio would finance a Prince movie, even if he did want to make one. The general public isn't interested in him, so a movie starring Prince wouldn't sell.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I dont think even The Stoens could dredge up studio interest: didnt Shine A Light with Scorcese directing even flop?

Music related performers in movies today generally are rappers. That's who sell.

Sorry I just really like that movie, he was just so on top in that whole Parade period. I think its flawless from the camp novelty view. But I agree, Prince is no actor and his parents did stand out above the others, although their roles were very small. All Mum does is cry and look blank, and daddy says maybe 100 words in the whole movie, slaps Prince and his Mom around, plays some piano and blows his brains out. Not much more than a cameo really.

I thought Prince's acting was pretty good in Purple Rain, when he was angry he really seemed angry. look at the little dramatic bit after he performs Purple Rain, but then again, he was under a director as opposed to directing himself. I heard a rumor years ago that Steven Spielberg wanted him to play Peter Pan in a musical, not sure how true that is it was never confirmed in any other source than the person telling me at the time.

No I don't think making another movie is in the future for Prince.

That being said, I think a movie/biography about Prince, kind of like they did with Ray would be a success, his life is full of drama & excitement, certainly enough material to create a compelling story—but I can't ever see Prince approving this, he's way to private and would want to control how he is portrayed… I could see this realized only after he passes away (in another 50 years or so!).

As I've posted before in the past, the only movie he could do at this point would have to be a Tim Burton production.
