You know you can't expect a superstar of Prince's caliber to be bothered with having business people that would have made sure this stuff was handled properly. What's wrong with you? giggle

Right?

lol

I appreciate his need to work outside of the system or create a new system or whatever, but if he's going to do that he should at least make sure his system works and he's covering all his bases.

More times than not, it does just reflect badly on him.

Again, this may or may not be his fault, but it is yet another fuck up with his name attached.

Around here...anyway! lol

Though I completely agree with you. nod

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I'm curious why they wouldn't let Erykah play?

If the story about them having no sound or lighting is true it would seem to explain why Erykah couldn’t play, either.

Exactly. Everyone needs to stop acting like Prince could've walked in and snapped his fingers and everything would've magically been as it should have been with proper preparation and management.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Maybe these folks and Prince should have took a hint and just gave a regular ass concert so his fans could see him play then they would have made a killing lol and been able to donate to charity too wink Cuz I don't know about ya'll but Nursey's been a fan since 81 but I wasn't paying the 15 lol no way in hell! The blame also can't be put 100% on Prince, but he gets 50% for just plain ole ignoring his average fans and setting up some bull crap like this lol Even though it's cold as hell in DFW now I did venture out into this mess and I know I would've loved to see Prince wink

Here in Miami he did do a regular show for us fans before the SB. woot! Tickets were $100 to $400 bucks.

But back in '07 everything was organized by the NFL...that's a HUGE difference from a newbie/wannabee organizer trying to piece a show like this together with very little preparation time. I doubt that Prince participated in organizing this Dallas event like he did in Miami, so he can't even be 50% blamed IMO, lol Reportedly, everybody from the engineers to the hotel itself were not paid and even the recipients of the fund raiser distanced themselves from the event.

Prince always does a soundcheck before a big show, so I have to think that if everything wasn't in place by soundcheck time, someone in his camp would have told him. At that point he would have pulled out if not before and I wouldn't blame him if he did.

Did you see the report that only about a hundred people showed up? That tells me that they didn't come anywhere close to selling enough tickets to put on this type of event. You really can't pull off this kind of event at those prices when there's so many other events going on the same week unless you have a whole lot of clout and connections and these guys were clearly rank amateurs.

If anything, I guess P or someone representing him should do their homework in the future to see what kind of track record certain organizers have. It's a shame that his name is attached to this screw up because I believe it had very little to do with him this time.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

But I guess we'll never know, because there obviously WASN'T proper preparation and managment.

Early reports said Erykah had planned to play and even put some of her own money toward making it happen.

Doesn't seem she was that concerned about the sound and lighting.

She (or her management) probably thought better of facing a potentially hostile situation when they had to annouce to people who paid $1500 to see Prince that Prince wasn't playing.

Paul Levatino, who works closely with Badu as part of her Badu World team, couldn't offer much more insight, either -- other than to say that the Dallas native tried her best to keep the event going.

"Even when they were saying, 'We're sorry, we're canceling,' Erykah was talking to me, trying to figure out how we could make something happen," Levatino said, indicating that Badu spent a good portion of her own money on the event. He hinted that she may also have contacted a few of her other famous friends in town for Super Bowl weekend, trying to find someone to replace Prince.

"There wasn't really too much opportunity for that, though," Levatino said. "But people were talking. There were a lot of things going on."

A different member of Badu's camp, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that much, indeed, was going on behind the scenes -- albeit on another front. According to the source, Prince and his handlers arrived on the site this afternoon, and that the handlers had scoped the venue out only to find that it wasn't up to their standards.

"Prince never even stepped inside the hotel," the source said.

And that, the source added, was just one of the issues. Sound and lighting engineers hadn't been paid and were refusing to set up their equipment until they got their money. And when they finally did, the hotel -- which, our source says, was also claiming it wasn't paid -- apparently made the final decision to pull the plug and move on.

There seems to be plenty of fault to go around. It's going to be interesting to see how it all plays out. popcorn couch

Well maybe next time some of you will wait to find some of details before you start putting the blame on P. It looks like with no sound or lighting no show was going to happen.

Here's a picture of the ballroom where the event was to take place, taken by Pete Freedman, the Music Editor of the Dallas Observer, who was there.

http://blogs.dallasobserv..._after.php

I can totally see Prince and/or his people as was reported...

http://blogs.dallasobserv..._press.php

A different member of Badu's camp, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that much, indeed, was going on behind the scenes -- albeit on another front. According to the source, Prince and his handlers arrived on the site this afternoon, and that the handlers had scoped the venue out only to find that it wasn't up to their standards.

not finding that to be up to his standards. shrug

But that only really makes me wonder why their "unofficial" statement was that he was never even there? confuse

http://www.etonline.com/n..._Canceled/

Organizers never arranged for transportation for him and his band. "Prince is extremely disappointed that the organizers, the Meridian Entertainment Group and the River Alexander Group ... were unable bring him and his band to Dallas," the source said.

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

This is not Prince's fault, it is the organizors who did a terrible job in the set of this. I am sad that this has happen! (In my city! I was right there when they told me it was cancelled! It sucks so badly I am glad the director said that their expenses related to this situation will be fully reimbursed. BUT I also hope Prince and Erkah are able to re-schedule something so those who expected to go to this concert will be given the experince. This event is for a good cause

Eye NO something will be said about this! HOPEFULLY, This controversy can be resolved by a statement from Prince's team. I am sure he is highly disappointed this had to go down like this..I AM TOO! I expected it to be great! But somehow I feel it will be resolved in the near future!

it's time for them to do the work! smile The Work Pt. Superbowl! smile lol
