Exactly.

Listened to the whole show yesterday.

It confirmed that my decision not going to a P concert while Shitty J is with the band, was the right one. Man she fucked up Love thy will be done.... so sad...

Sad that P didn't sing on those tracks where Shelby sung. And if the instrumentals would have P singing, it would have been the greatest boot right behind Small Club.

FBG#37 is out, and it is really rather good. Great setlist, great sound, great art. Prince and band are in top form and quality of sound is excellent.

I've just listened to "Joy In Repetition", and it's been reduced to elevator music. If that is supposed to be "top form"...

JIR isn't bad because it's a soundcheck, it's bad because Renato Neto kills it dead.

You mention three songs from a 3 hours gig -- I remember how entire gigs used to be amazing and mindblowing. THAT is top form.

So you've paid € 200 and you like what you've heard? What a surprise. Let's face it, once you've spent that much money you can't really admit that it wasn't that good, and that a lot of it was rather bad.

Yet there are plenty of other people here who don't pretend that these shows were the best ever. They can admit that they hate that Prince leaves the singing to these annoying women. That his choice of songs is boring, and actually completely ridiculous (boasting about having so many hits and then playing the same ones as always, and even playing COVERS -- and those are also always the same ones). That songs are reduced to chants.

"Joy In Repetition" is a wonderful song, one of his best -- to hear it being reduced to elevator music is awful, and shows how little Prince cares about his musical legacy. "It was just a soundcheck" -- I've heard Prince soundcheck before, and that guy (back then) meant business. I heard his band goofing around until he appeared, but they never sounded like elevator music.

Ok, ok, you have a point, I'll rephrase for him:

Listen to:

Stratus, Sometimes it Snows in April, Delirious, Soft And Wet, I Wanna Be Your Lover, Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad, Sexy Dancer, Give It To Me Baby, Le Freak, Party Up, Uptown, Raspberry Beret, Cream, Cool, Let's Work, U Got The Look, Controversy - I know you got soul - Oh Belgium chant - Eye like Funky Music, Free, Pearls Before The Swine, Love Thy Will be done, She's Always in my hair, Dreamer, I feel 4 U, Chelsea Rodgers, Dance (disco heat), Baby I'm A star, The Love We make, Funk jam - America chant going into .... Get on the boat, Which Way is up, Mountains-shake your body - Everyday People - I wanna take you higher, All The Critics love u in Brussels

But above all, were you even there?

And if you've done all that (you'll be three ours older) and you still have complaints, then please get the hell outahere because you're on the wrong forum.

And don't come tell me that it was better in 1995, believe I was there that time also, it wasn't,

Then yes he took risks en reinvented himsel

and I will even tell you, I was there in 1986, and it's hard for me to say this,

but yes it was even better!

Now this time around he rediscovers his own backcatalog with the most respect, joy, musicianship and freshness that you ever can imagine from any artist.

That sundaynight I was in the midst of musicians, fans and first time visitors, they were all blown away.

I was one of the biggest skeptics of this second part of the 20ten tour, but Prince shut my mouth with hard arguments in Viage Brussels and het sportpaleis Antwerp.

you give false info Bart, I'm not used to that from you!

it was 100 €

and that was less then I payed for the Antwerp gig that was 129 € for the pit.

I won't have any trouble to say if it was bullshit or boring,

I mean, like I said in my other post, I was realy sceptical to say the least.

I hated it that he came back with the same show,

And I said I was right with my scepticism when I saw the setlist of the shows in the northern of Europe.

But then he realy suprised me, And I was blown away that sundaynight.

yes it were the same songs, yes there were covers,

But you should have been there,

It's just unbelieveble what he does,

And I've seen him do a lot

I've seen him in 1990 and 1992, and boy was I dissapointed, with 1992 the badest thing I've ever see him do, and I paid what 30€ or someting (1200 BEF) that was still a lot of money back then.

Bart,

only a fool can't admit he's wrong.

Oh yes,

you are right, joy in repetition was elevatormusic,

well not realy in Viage there are escalators

if you where there you would know,

it wasn't a soundcheck (he did that before that song, before we were let in the building)

JIR was played by the NPG minus P while we, the public, were entering the venue.

It served well for that, but it wasn't more than that.

Seriously Bart, let's try and take this to another level. Apparently you don't like much of what Prince has been doing lately. That's fine with me,you've got a right to think so. I'm not complaining either about your wish to express that feeling here on this site. I would just simply choose just to ignore Prince and leave it at that. So far so good.

But then what's the use of blatently disrespecting and talking down to people on a fansite like this ?? Somehow trying to improve your own self-esteem by taking a morally superior stance maybe? Obsession with determining general opinion??? Obsessive need for attention ? All of these even maybe???

You see Bart, there is a way of disagreeing by NOT implying moral superiority and that's just saying you don't agree. point. That would lead to an exchange of arguments... This is just the same old boring nonsense that FEW people are willing to take serious by now...

There you have it.

I always kept my memory of vorst 1986 as something that would never be surpassed,

but what he did that weekend in Belgium just prooved me wrong,

and I'm very delighted about it.

I love to be proven wrong that way.

First, I was wrong saying Bart is boring, he's not when you tickle him.

Two, I'm old enough, succesful enough, rich enough, happy enough not to need any respect from bertje zielig. We've come a long way. I use to think he had a point, he's had his function but now he's just not relevant anymore. He's just boring.

What the hell does he know what a miserable 100€ means to me, it's just money. I have a lot more respect for other things then the power of money.

'Och Heere' we say here.

It's just the same thing like some journalists calling 'the love we make' a flat sticky ballad. Oh Lord forgive them, they don't know what they're saying.

The only thing that counts for me is, about princeshows, that I had a good time, I realy enjoyed myself AND it was uplifting.

You have to let yourself be happy, that's the key. I have the impression that Bartmans believes someone else has to do it for him. That's not the way it works.

EDD, I couldn't agree more, it was uplifting! I'm still on a purple cloud and for me entering the venue with JIR, well it gave me a the feeling that we were welcome you know. Just relax after standing in line for hours, unwine, kick back and enjoy whatever's gonna happen. To me that was perfect.

And for the sportpaleis gig I can only way, wow, prince seemed genuinly happy but still he maintained the ability to create that "Prince tension"

Why not buy stuff?
What medium is this released distributed on?
Paper tape?
Cassette?
I mean, how do we store this? Like on a shelf?

These things should be Free right? Unless P decides to release it himself (which will never happen).

It's a download (FLAC), either store it on your hard drive or if you really want to shelve it burn to CD (and print the artwork to make it look good on your shelf smile)

Download it, burn it, print the cover, put it on the shelf.

If you want a cassette (you brought it up) dub the CDR to cassette.

If you really want to pay for it, and if the process is too much for you, pay somebody to do all that hard work for you...

Or, wait, wait and wait some more, Sabotage will do the work of printing the same set to CD for you, and will gladly take your money.

Then you can come on here in a few months and tell us how great it is and that we should buy it.

Some of us will just say, "Oh, Sab's version is finally out?", and download their copy for free too.

It's not only Shelby,

contrary to this summer they are not in the back, but up front, they realy work the crowd.

they have such power that I understand that Prince doesn't want that behind him.

And this time around Elisa comes more to the foreground. I love her voice, she has a very warm sweet voice, just like her personality.

I know I'm biased, I don't know them but I've met them. They are three warm joyfull girls who love to sing, and are good at it.

I agree with the Elisa Dease-Fiorillo comment; during the summer I kind of liked her MJ cover(s) but her performance of ''Free'' during the autumn tour is really really very good. (hoping they will do this instead of that awfull NC2U version in Arnhem).
