So far I'm really digging this album. It's grabbed me way faster than any album he's done since SOTT, now that's something.

I still play pokemon. I play warcraft. And I'm awesome.

Nope, 20ten is at least four times as gay.

Well I really really like this album A LOT.. Prince sounds so happy and inspired, I think its the perfect blend of pop, disco, funk, rock, singer song writer things plus it combinds the 70,80,90,00

OK... on the second spin.

It feels like he's remembered something significant. It's the first proper Prince album, to my ears, since 'Come' (you may dispute; everyone has their own benchmark, and that's cool.)

The syncopation and the production and the changes and the textures: yep, I'd given up hearing this from Prince again.

But at the same time, I can't escape the feeling that he'd much rather be singing about something else, like chemtrails, and the Tea Party, and FEMA and Jehova and the Jews.

That sounds harsh. I like this a lot more than Planet Earth or Loutusflower or Musicology. But it's a tiny bit... what?

I'm spoiled. I admit it. Hmm. I LIKE this record. But it lacks something like the surprise of the opposite of heartbreak or joy, or something. I like it! But I miss the Prince who cared what I thought., maybe.

The first 3 seconds of 'Sticky Like Glue' is from 'Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad'. That is all.

Sticky like glue is the best track he's done in years. I really love the sound of the backup singers throughout the album-really blend well with his voice

Overall a solid b plus. Missing a killer pop single or two is all.

I've only listened to the album once, ill just put down a few random thoughts smile

Overall, i think this album is fun. While not a classic, its not something you could label as bad or boring.

I am definitely loving the retro vibes cool

I think the backing singers do a really good job on this album! Overall all the vocals are really nice.

Im pretty impressed with the ballads, especially after the awful ones we got on MPLSound confused

Sticky Like Glue is my fav song, so funky, Compassion & Lavaux are really fun songs. I can definitely see some songs as growers.

Overall i think this album trumps MPLSound in every way, better than Planet Earth and imo probably better than 3121. The key word is fun biggrin

My review.....I will never listen to this album again. I MAY listen to 1 or 2 of the tracks sporadically. As a matter of fact, due to the final realization that no matter how much I bitch and complain Prince will probably never make another ALBUM that I will enjoy, I will now say "goodbye" to the place I have frequented for the past 8 years. GOODBYE org, it has been fun.

P.S. Bart, you are one of the few that I still remember from back in the day. Keep up the irritation! Also, a big THANK U to all the folks that have hooked me up over the years (FUCK U LENNON! I want my blanks back!) We lived to see The Dawn.....and it sucked!

hahahahaha, damn, I'm amazed so many don't get Everybody Loves Me.

It's truly brilliant and one of his most catchy songs ever! It really just needs a Tim Burton directed video. It'd also be awesome in a Pixar film.

Act Of God is the ultimate grower. I didn't love it at first, but enjoy it more each time.

Good to see near universal opinion that Future Soul Song is classic Prince. I always loved his deep voice stuff.

"Everybody Loves Me" is stellar! Great lyrics on that track. cool

I listened to it twice last night and I got to say, I can't wait to buy this CD when it hits the stores. This is a CD that I want in my collection. It's a fun, upbeat kind of CD with lots of the stuff on there that I love about Prince. I love the retro sound that this CD has because he did it the right way. I enjoyed MPLSound but l said this in a different thread, this is the CD that MPLSound should have sounded like. Prince didn't sound rushed on this one like he has in other CD's, it sounded like it was just Prince having a good time and I had a good time listening to it.

I will say that I hope that this album is the last one Prince does where he goes retro, whether it's retro period or retro Prince. I would like a new sound and direction from him but for now, I'm VERY happy with this CD. Prince did the damn thing on this one, real talk.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

It really is a fantastic album! I've heard it too may times since last night to count but I am enjoying it more and more! I was playing it in the car this morning while I was out and about and it reminds me of all the joyous times when I got a new Prinec album and I made a copy (before cd's) and or had a CD for the car and I was just kee deep in the new sounds and songs and being very happy!

Prince's music make me happy and this new album is no exception! It is a pop and funk masterpiece.

10 was a surprise to me, definitely understated and much more mellow that the first 9 songs

11 now we are talking. A very nice (but short) acappella song but with a twist no lyrics or vocals

12 was a let down. It is a cover of a song from RAVE. I wonder if it was not a MJ tribute as the one on Rave was to be for Miles Davis. But still it was better than his last 20 albums.

In the UK, has this album been promoted ANYWHERE? (other than in the Mirror, and on their website.)

I only heard about this release a few days ago... on here... and I'd concider myself a pretty hardcore fan!!

The shame of this is, that unless you read The Mirror anyway (and few do), the public won't have heard anything about this new Prince album! Very poor promotion.

At first listen, I really like a LOT of tracks on 20Ten. But I'll vent and criticize first:

Prince is a genius but he's been spinning his wheels for 10 years now and 20Ten is no exception - there's no musical growth or evolution here whatsoever as far as I can tell. Sadly I've officially surrendered my hope that with each "next" album will be a giant leap forward in style - The Lovesexys, the Sign of the Times, etc. For me, Rainbow Children was a good leap forward - the last real one where he seemed FREE, boundless, and creative.

Since then, his albums are filled with quintessentially "Prince-sounding" tracks. But overall nothing new-sounding, fresh, memorable or epic. They're Prince songs. That's not bad. It's just not how it used to be and that's a little disappointing for this longtime fanatic. We know he's capable of more experimentation.

Why he continues to add the same-old-sounding slow jams like "Sea of Everything" on every single album is amazing to me. We've heard it a thousand times!

That said - 2010 is a very listenable album, similar to 3121 in that I enjoy most tracks and don't forward through them the way I did Musicology and Planet Earth - (in my opinion those were 2 of his worst ever albums, but it's all relative - I like New Power Soul!)

My favorite tracks:

Beginning Endlessly - Great funky synth & groove. Prince.

Sticky Like Glue - chilled out funk & soul. Nice.

Future Soul Song - maybe one of the loveliest chorus/melodies he's ever made.

Walk in Sand - a perfectly lovely track with a nice vocal melody and strong chorus.

Like any recent Prince album, I love 3 or 4 tracks, and the rest, eh...but those few tracks per album I love add up to a great MIX, and I'll always be grateful to Prince for the enjoyment his music has brought to my life.
