Sometimes you people (the lighter persuasion) really get on my nerves.

These publications are celebrating and honoring his genius despite records sells or a world-tour.

The other- whiter publications tend to exploit or have monetary intentions when Prince graces their cover.

A star on the walk costs $20,000. That's all it takes to get one. I could get one. So unless someone pays for it he's not likely to buy one. Also, there isn't a cool way to kneel down and stick your hands in wet cement. Can you see Prince doing that? I can't.

What a bloody stupid thing to say. You can't know much about Prince if you make that kind of comment.

Read the mags. Word did an overview on one of their anniversaries, and said the Prince and Dido covers were newsstand poison. Read the same thing in another UK mag. Or look at the facts: how many times has Prince had a cover story in those mags. If he was selling mags, they'd put him on every other month. Just look at the back issues of mags like Mojo and Uncut: I wouldn't be surprised there's at least one Beatles cover and one Pink Floyd cover for each mag in the past year. Why? Because those copies sell. Prince doesn't, in fact he does the opposite.

An indisputable fact about why UK mags won't put him on the cover. A fact which shows a magazine having "its worst month" by having Prince/Dido on the cover. And a fact supporting why an in-depth interview is never going to happen. You demand this of everyone else - now its your turn wink

One of the Word back issues. Go look it up. It's in print. Maybe I've got the mag here somewhere, if I ever come accross it I'll take a pic and post it.

In-depth interviews ain't gonna happen because they've never happened. And certainly not recently. Princ einterviews = Prince babbling on about a handful of prepared topics. Go read the interviews he did over the course of two days to promote Emancipation: same shit over and over. A few reporters complained that Prince kept saying things that in no way answered their questions. Same deal with pics: always the same poses.

The reason I say "prove it", is when people post proven lies and nonsense. I don't lie.

Its not an imbecilic comparison at all - but I knew that is what you'd come back with and be a prick about it. Prince being on the cover of a magazine is the cover story. It is no different if its an interview, a film review, or a cd giveaway. He's on the cover, he's the main story.

And, what's your logic? It seems you are suggesting, based on ONE magazine's report, that having Prince on the cover is bad for sales. If this was true, then the Mail would not have done so well. The free album is irrelevant, it is the public's perception of Prince, according to you, that is important. Hence, having Prince on the cover is bad for sales, because people aren't interested in Prince. That is what you are saying - but if that were true, why are they suddenly interested in his music?

Furthermore, The Word doesn't really know why those issues didn't sell - maybe it was something else? Maybe the rest of the content was lacklustre? Maybe a competitor had a free cd!!! lol Assuming that the cover alone is responsible for how well that publication sells is over-simplifying.

With regard to putting artists on "month after month" that doesn't really happen with those publications. A quick look at all of The Words past cover artists shows that its rare for any artist to be on the cover more than once (Bruce Springsteen being a clear exception), so your point is moot. Furthermore, The Beatles have only been on the cover of the Word ONCE in their 7-year history (maybe they don't sell mags either?!) and Pink Floyd have NEVER been on there! (I notice, however, you (apparently) inexplicably switch to different publications to support your argument there - however, your agenda is revealed, as its well-known that MOJO devoted a whole run of issues to, unsurprisingly, the Beatles (imagine that, a British music magazine paying tribute to Britain's greatest ever pop export?! Boggles the mind!).

Your opinion about Prince in interview is just that - your opinion. And the recent Ebony interview seems in-depth to me. And I remember the Guitar Player interview being in-depth about his music, playing and gear. Just because Prince doesn't spew out every moronic detail that others hound for doesn't matter - he says what he wants you or the interviewer to know and that's fine with me. Prince has almost always had a decent rein of control over the media (far more that other artists have acheived - one only has to look at MJ to see how losing control over the media is detrimental!).

In summary, quoting one magazine that had poor sales when Prince was on the cover is hardly lavishing your consistently biased statements with hard evidence, but its what you always do - take one negative thing that is linked to Prince and try and inflate it in to a huge issue that you have promoted on here for years - that is, that Prince is shit in all aspects. It makes YOU look the imbecile.

Do you not see that you are just as bad as Desire2006?! Your "sometimes you people (the lighter persusaion) really get on my nerves" quote is just as retarded and prejudiced as what Desire said. Hardly promoting inter-racial harmony are you, by generalising that all white people think this way? Had you just dealt with the person who said it - i.e. "YOUR comment got on my nerves" rather than exclaiming that this is how ALL white people think then it would have been appropriate and not contentious.

Usually I can find SOME truth in what you say, and if you look at my posts you will find me not to be a "fam" but DAMN you have some issues. lol

I know the folks who own some of the music mags that he has been in previously and their sales SPIKE when he does cover stories. And why in the world would you EVER expect in depth interviews with Prince? Tho he has given some decent ones (again in music mags). Personally I have never heard of or seen the Word magazine. So what do I care what they say? I guess I'm just surprised at just how many things you can get your panties in a wad about. I actually respect your knowledge of Prince trivia (sort of scary really) but you need to pick and choose what is worth hyperventilating about. If nothing else it will allow you to do other things with your time.

I read the article the other day. Rashod Ollison, basically talks about Prince's career

past and present; changes in lyrics and religion. Also, how Prince opened the floodgates for many new pop stars. Ollison concludes, " Now 30 years later, Prince has absolutely nothing to prove". All the pictures look HOT, HOT, HOT. He will be old when he is 95. Even then he will look 60. Shout outs to all the Gemini's, who look forever young.

The pics were kool. But I didn't like the article. It focused to much on his genderbending &

androgynous & sexual lyrics. Prince has always to me been more than that. Maybe that is why now he says he made mistakes in his life...

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

before rolling stones and some of the other more well known publications, there was ebony and jet. In the African American communities, both publication are like rollinstones newsweek and time magazine all in one. During, the early days of his career, these were the only magazine that did not misquote him during rare interviews. There were some teen mags also like righton! and soul beat. so there's a long history within the African American and Prince dating back to 79

OMG! To the person who made the statement about what's wrong with White mags., may I suggest the following: When you are misunderstood -- which I believe you are -- please: 1. apologize and/or say you're sorry for the misunderstanding BEFORE you begin defending. Jumping to defense only makes matters worse for you and those who are uncertain or who are offended. 2. state your intention. 3. Ask for suggestions of how your intention could have been received AS intended. This works not only when the topic is race and ethnicity, it's just human stuff.

For the folks whose buttons were pushed by the statement, may I suggest the following: Please: 1. Ask what the other person intended without using words that sound judgemental. I really like and use the following phrase, "Help me understand your intention when you ... ." 2. Going with their intention, give suggestions regarding language or actions. 3. Then, if you believe it will help build relationships and help and is in the highest good of you and the other person, share the impact of their behavior on you.

Good grief people, we MUST learn to address issues is disrespect respectfully. SOMEBODY has to stop the insanity. Sometimes my buttons are pushed so fast and so far in that I can't respond in this respectful way. And, I'm building muscles daily so I can be a voice of respect and reason.

Thank you.

I am glad that Prince is doing interviews with African American magazines, Prince deserves respect. It bothers me the names ( the diminutive rocker, the elfin wunderkind) that White magazines like Blender and Rollingstone call him. How come nobody calls Bruce Springsteen diminutive?

Is it just me or did Jet used to come in the same size as Ebony?
