Would the newspaper-with-cd trick still work and count as a normal album sale?
Wasn't that changed after his 2007 deal in England? Or how does this sort of stuff work? Does it matter at all? Counted or not, a sale is a sale as long as P gets some bread... I'm pretty sure Ebony mag is imported into the UK, i doubt they'd come with CD's stuck on the front somehow.
I could be wrong though. He should do what Slash just did here, big fancy magazine devoted to him, Jewel case CD inside, £14.99. Not free, but somehow still attractive. And i'm not even into Slash. But if that were Prince. [Edited 4/14/10 2:44am] |

if its true.....then surely a new album means a tour-of sorts or else why bother oh wait-he did that(or rather didn't) last year..... and-surely-if there was to be a live thingy-it would HAVE to be a hits show-like the o2 lol-man its confusing trying to work him out so-i'll just wait-mabey he's pre empting all of us that said after Lotus-we will not pay for the next whatever..... who knows-but after Purple n Gold..... my excitement levels are tepid at best | |

to give it away with a magazine would make sense. he first tried to
get that done in 1994 with "the undertaker", or was it already '95 by that time? giving it away with guitar magazine. the uk newspaper give away was a nice idea but still very local. if he could strike a deal with a globally distributed magazine, he'd get global coverage and only have to deal with 1 magazine. it sounds like something prince would try at least once. a magazine would surely be interested in a deal like that since they would get tens of thousands of people buying their publication whom would not do so otherwise or perhaps have never even read it before. big new exposure for the magazine, new distribution channel for the man. let's just hope he'll actually give away a good album this time, instead of planet earth, which was one of his worst ever. perhaps not for an obscure internet release but for a big public outing, he'll need to come up with something better. whatever else, i like the sound of "no internet release". he needs a break from the net for a while. i'd rather walk into a store to pick up a magazine with his new album than sit at the computer for another month and watch silly graphics and a non event. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps | |

Imagine a monthly 'vault' magazine like this. Different era each issue, archive pics, interviews, in depth details regarding the recording sessions, or tours if it was a concert issue. ^^^I have this version, it's wonderful packaging, a mag devoted to slash, a patch, a badge and the cd is special to this release, with different artwork and a bonus track only available in the uk on this cd, all for only £14.99 (about $20). and the album Rocks!!!
