hmmmmm.....i never heard of a person so close to prince like that.....prince is such an enigma

http://en.wikipedia.org/w...rry_Graham

In 1975, Graham became one of Jehovah's Witnesses.[2] In the early 1980s, Graham recorded five solo albums and had several solo hits on the R&B charts. His biggest hit was "One in a Million You", a crossover hit, which reached number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1980.
He reformed Graham Central Station in the early 1990s and performed with the band for several years during which they released 2 live albums. One was recorded in Japan in 1992, and the other, recorded in London in 1996, had only 1000 copies printed and was exclusively sold at concerts.
In 1998, he recorded a solo album under the name Graham Central Station, GCS 2000. It was a collaboration between Larry Graham and Prince. While Graham wrote all the songs, except one co-written by Prince, the album was co-arranged and co-produced by Prince, and most of the instruments and vocals were recorded by both Graham and Prince. Graham also toured with Prince as his bassist in 1997-2000. He appeared in Prince's 1998 VHS Beautiful Strange and 1999 DVD Rave Un2 the Year 2000.
In 2007 he was invited to play in Minneapolis with the reformed Sly & the Family Stone, but declined because he was out of town. He did however, appear onstage in Minneapolis on July 8, 2007 with Prince at First Avenue. On October 24, 2009, he appeared with Prince in Minneapolis once more, during a concert at Prince's Paisley Park Studios complex.[3]

I guess the gradual conversion of Prince happend between 1997- 2000.
By the way, that Larry seems like a sweet guy.

Speaking of Prince's JW conversion in general, even though I strongly disagree with his beliefs and preaching, I let it go because I believe his religion brought him some measure of peace after the tragedy of losing his son.

Oh no Prince doesn't curse anymore..what a shame!

Seriously, if you care that much about if Prince curses or not..then that is pretty sad. Have you people even listened to 3121? This is one of Prince's best albums he has made in his career.

Prince is a grown man, he makes his own decisions. Whether you feel his decisions are right or wrong is irrelevant. We don't know how things would turn out, but I'd rather have Prince as a JW rather than a drug addict or something worse.

If you want to bash JW's do as you want, I don't even follow any religion myself, but I for one support Prince in whatever he chooses to do with his life.

Yea and this is what Larry got Prince into:

The World Book Dictionary says, “A cult is a group or sect whose practices or beliefs are separated from generally accepted values and creeds.” One of their most common traits is the fact that they look to a person or group other than the Bible for spiritual revelation. So by definition and trait Jehovah’s Witnesses are a cult.

Jehovah’s Witnesses depend upon the “Watchtower Magazine” and “Awake Magazine” for spiritual revelation. These two publications are printed in Brooklyn, NY by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.

This society was started by Mr. Charles T. Russell. He didn’t agree with the generally accepted beliefs that most churches held about hell and eternal judgment. He also didn’t believe in the Trinity. Instead of falling in line, he started his own group.

According to the Bible, God’s true prophets had to be right one hundred percent of the time. It also says no one knows when the Lord will return. Charles T. Russell departed from this. He said Jesus would return in 1876. It didn’t happen. He departed from the Scriptures and he was wrong. This makes him a false prophet.

The Bible tells us not to add to or take away from the Scriptures (Revelation 22:18-19).

Over the years, scholars have found the Watchtower and Bible Tract Society wrong about many things. Instead of correcting their mistakes, they produced their own translation of the Bible. They changed words to make the Bible fit their own theology.

Here are several things the “Organization” teaches:

1) They say Jesus is a created being (The Bible says Jesus is the Creator).

2) They say Jesus is actually Michael the Archangel (The Bible says Jesus is the Son of God).

3) They say Jesus was not resurrected bodily, but as a spirit being (The Bible says His body disappeared. He appeared to His disciples and told them to look at His flesh and bones.)

4) They say Jesus returned invisibly in 1914 and appeared secretly to the Organization. (The Bible says He will return the same way He went away which was visibly and every eye will see Him.).

5) They say Jesus was a man when He was on the earth and that He was not “the Word made flesh.” They say He should not be worshipped. (That’s the exact opposite of what the Bible says).

6) They say hell is the grave (They have rewritten the Bible and changed words to make it say this).

7) They say heaven’s doors are open to only 144,000 and the rest of the saved will spend eternity on a paradise earth (The Bible says differently).

8) They say salvation is only through their “Organization.” (The Bible says it’s only through Jesus.

8) They say the doctrine of the Trinity originated with Satan (The Bible which was given by the Holy Spirit teaches that there is a Godhead.).

Jehovah’s Witnesses work hard, but works won’t save them. They need to receive Jesus as their Saviour.

Did you happen to read the part where Prince's employees said that people would get fired just for looking him in the eye?

After his conversion, all that stopped.

It also said that Prince was calmer and happier.

So you're barking up the wrong tree.

I bet you if Larry was Prince's drug connection and got him hooked on heroin, you wouldn't have shit to say!!!

I've been a Prince fan my entire life. Since I was born on June 7th, 1983.

So yes, I was around when Prince was cool.

I just don't see what the big god damn deal is over him being a Jehovah's Witness when he's has Christian religious imagery and lyrics in his music from the very beginning.

So, I don't care about him changing the lyrics to his songs, or not cursing. Because their his songs.

If he wanted to change the music to Let's Go Crazy to the tune of Mary Had a Little Lamb, I wouldn't care because it's his music.

All these people bitching and complaining about nonsense.

From http://www.religioustoler...om_jeh.htm

Jehovah's Witnesses expectations of persons with a homosexual orientation:
The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania (WTS) is a conservative Christian denomination whose theology differs greatly from that of Fundamentalist and other Evangelical denominations. However, their attitude towards homosexuality is similar to essentially all other conservative religious groups. They requires that both homosexual behavior and feelings be suppressed. That is:

Gays and lesbians must remain celibate.
Bisexuals must not engage in same-sex behavior.
Any opposite-sex behavior must be restricted to one man and one woman who are married to each other.
Jesus' stated that to lust after another person is to commit adultery with them in your heart. Thus they expect a gay or lesbian to suppress or distract themselves from their desire, longing, feelings of attraction, love, sexual fantasies etc. towards others of the same sex.
Homosexual Witnesses are expected to refrain from both sexual activity and sexual thoughts involving other persons of the same-sex, even if the other person is their marriage partner. Although individuals with any orientation can choose celibacy, it is quite impossible for any person to totally control and eliminate their sexual feelings. The Witness' literal interpretation of Jesus' statement places an immense emotional load on its heterosexual, bisexual, gay and lesbian membership who try to live up to the group's expectations.

Jim Moon is webmaster of A Common Bond, an international support group for ex-Jehovah's Witnesses who are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered. 1 Their web site states that:

"The Jehovah's Witness religion teaches its membership to believe that homosexuality is 'detestable', 'an abomination', 'abhorrent', and is caused by demon possession. Because of this, thousands of gay Witnesses are living lives of deeply closeted guilt, and fear of destruction by God. Those who choose to leave, or are expelled from the Witnesses face immediate isolation and shunning from family and friends. It is for this reason that 'A Common Bond' was created - to offer support and comfort to those who once thought they were alone and condemned...Gays and lesbians who have been kicked out of the JWs are in a special need for all the emotional and spiritual support they can get. If JWs don't conform completely to the sect's doctrines and practices, including a strict prohibition against merely being gay, they are disfellowshipped, which is a severe punishment. It amounts to total ostracism."

If detected, gays and lesbians who refuse to remain celibate are expected to repent of their actions and to refrain from same-sex behavior in the future. Those who refuse are almost inevitably disfellowshipped. The WTS expects all of its members to agree with and follow all of the requirements of the organization, which are based on the WTS' interpretation of the Bible.

While disfellowshipped, fellow members are required to shun him/her completely, avoiding all contact. If the disfellowshiped person is a family member, then they are treated normally within the family, except that they are made to understand that their actions are disapproved of. There is no discussion about church matters in their presence. This can have a devastating effect on a person whose entire religious, family and social life were grounded in the Society.

As in most large religious organizations, official policies must be administered by junior officials within the local congregation. Some consider even celibate gays and lesbians as unsuitable for membership.
