Hmmm, I wonder why that dude from Icon got to do that remix. Lemme google those guys (because their own site isn't up yet). Aha, here they are: http://www.learn2produce.com/ . Let's scroll a bit... hey, that's someone familiar: http://www.learn2produce....Itemid=100

eek Well that answers that.

He should have got Morris to remix it, now that would have been worth owning.

BTW Bart, seen you pimpin' that Basement Jaxx story in another thread. I think they have a lot of Prince influences in their music, so I think they would have leapt at the chance to mix for Prince. I believe it when they said it was a scheduling clash that stopped them in the past.

Why is that guy doing a remix of Prince's music? Why wouldn't Prince make his own remix ?

Once again, Prince doing things on the cheap.

I think he is a friend of Mo Hayes.

Well that dude, Mo and Prince need to be slapped for that hot mess... lol

Why you guys so hard on this. I like techno, house. and club music and I like this mix. I also liked when I could get 5 versions of Eye Hate You, Get Off, Space or the Versace/pussy control mix.

The only song getting air time at the clubs occasionally anymore is Pussy Control 95.

Especially for the party scene in Europe and other contemporary cities...this could be cool.

Keep it coming...I'm buying it!

I read through this entire thread before watching the clip, and I was surprised at what I found once I did. I think the criticism of this clip is largely unwarranted (which more often than not seems to be the general reaction from many to new Prince material here on The Org). The clip just shows elements of the remix being produced, which is not rocket science. Nevertheless, I'm sure the actual remix process was much longer and more involved than the 2 minutes or so which became the final edit of this clip. I look forward to the finished product, I like what I've heard so far.

I think I speak for most Prince fans when I say I'll happily take a new b-side over a remix. Those '90s remixes, meaning the ones done by other people, were uniformly terrible and sound horribly dated. I've always felt that Prince missed a big opportunity to release more material, particularly in the UK, when he largely abandoned b-sides in the '90s. If you use bands like Oasis and Blur as an example for every album they released in the '90s you basically got another albums worth of new songs as b-sides. Circa 1993-1996 Prince was extremely prolific and I can't help wishing that more of the material he recorded in that era was released. B-sides would have been a great place to release those songs.

Who is Dr.Funkenberry? I'm not knocking the guy or anything. Infact, I appreciate his updates but he has to in the Prince camp. And let me guess, this news isn't on the LotusFlow3r website is it?

I reckon the remix might be OK but that video just proves how quickly and easily remixes can be done!

Dated and derivative. Should've got Morales or Basement Jaxx. confused

They won't do it. BJ already turned Prince down ten years ago.

You've said this before and it's BULLSHIT.

As I said in the other thread, here's the original quote:

You mentioned wanting Grace Jones to sing on a track with you. Who would be the dream artist to do a track with?
Grace didn’t happen unfortunately. She really liked our last album. We got her a track, but she is a hard lady to pin down. She is real busy but if we can get Yoko, I’m sure we can get Grace Jones!

In a dream world we would love to work with Prince. We saw him a couple of time when he did the O2 gigs in London, and one at Koko which was a teaser. Its was awesome, so good, such a controlled musician. We got offered to do a remix of his song, ‘the greatest romance ever been sold’. It was a shame we were on tour and couldn’t do it. It would be a dream to have him in the studio. In his first 4 albums he played all the instruments, wrote the songs, produced, engineered, everything! This was in 1978 when he was only 18very special.

and as I also said the last time you came with this bullshit:

The entire idea of someone not wanting to do a remix because they don't like the original track doesn't make any sense. My cousin is a professional producer and remixer and has been approached by record labels before to do remixes for people like The Fugees and Lady Gaga, and has done so even when he doesn't necessarily like the original song. Because it's an opportunity to make the song better.

Simon from Basement Jaxx is a friend of my cousin, so if his actual quote isn't good enough for you I'll ask him in person.

How come everyone wants a B Side. How bout making the A sides worth wanting first? It's like everyone is begging for the past. Kinda weird for all those that still think his stuff is as great as it ever was.

All I can say is...

I'd never buy any "music" from a guy who's not even a musician. I don't even know who that guy is... he's just pressing buttons... he's so full of himself... is that real music for real musicians? Honestly, I can't believe people would ever listen to that "kind" of music. I hold myself and my music, movies, etc, to a much higher standard.

NONSENSE

I personally think everyone should refrain all criticism until they've actually heard the finished product. It's funny how people just jump to conclusions. Think about it this way... This song has nothing to do with Prince. He turned over complete control to someone else for a remix. No harm done.
