It was done by the producer Icon - as the name suggests. Here is a link to his Twitter page: http://twitter.com/IconAlexander and on August 20th he tweeted this: "If your wondering were I've been.. In the studio doing exclusive remixes for PRINCE. It's 4:00 am and I'm still on the grind! stay tuned:-)" this suggests to me that he is also responsible for the other remixes that are on the single. It HAS to be an amateur effort? Still, Makes me wanna get my rave on, pop some xtc & zombie myself 2 ibiza! hallelujah! The dominatrix remix might be interesting, maybe more hardcore? We could always nominate it 4 a trance award

I love how it's mostly love or hate.
Personally I've not been interested in this type of remix from any artist since my clubbin' days (the 90's!  ).
Back then I always wished he'd hand his singles over to other producers (Vasquez and such) who would've produced mixes that would actually get played at clubs. (The only I can remember hearing a handful of times was Gett Off, and I might have requested it once or twice  ).

I would personally have liked a heavy House remix, and frankly, this remix does nothing 4 me.
I could've done something that would put that 2 shame. It's kind of generic. I'm thinking the "tribal drum" remix will be more 2 my taste... "He's a musician's musician..." | |

sounds worse than what students do the first time you let em' loose in a studio or is it a Yamaha home keyboard like a PSR1 demo track with P's vox dubbed on MIND YOU-I hate that crap felix the cat dance stuff too thats just surfaced-mabey you only enjoy this kind of rubbish on an e or three-gurning to the funk | |

William Orbit got credit for that but I believe that Mark Moore (of S'Express) did most of the work on it. Mark is dope. He's been working with a band called Ping Pong Bitches, and I really dig their track "The Beast". Anyhoo, for those of you not digging this remix, Icon just confirmed to me that this is the only one he has done as of yet. So, since the promo disc is already circulating - the Tribal Drum and Dominatrix mixes must have been done by other people. |

I'm a 20 year old suburban white producer and I could've done a way fucking better job than this... this is the most generic, 90s sounding piece of shit remix I've ever heard

But when we're talking about the art of making music, the evolution of a chord, a lyric, all the thoughts and creativity behind it (which is also something we love Prince for, isn't it?), it can be taken into count how easy it is to do something. The reason why I don't respect most of the chart bands/singers today isn't just the crap lyrics, production and overall message, but mainly the superficial and ridiculous songwriting behind all of that! |
