Sure they can. lol

thank you!

Intoxicated (on drugs or alcohol) is not the same as Addiction... which is CHRONIC use/abuse of substance usually in a non therapeutic way.

It's really too bad and a nonsense to refuse surgery, wth, ...??? Don't understand, sometimes, religion turn people so unreasonable,..
For his own sake, and happpiness, he should put religion aside and he'll see clearer and real eyes what's the real cure for him.

OK, so no one yet answered my question ... can you jump if you have bad hips.

IMO, if he had hip problems he would not jump continously like he did for housequake. So I kinda don't believe the rumor or at least I hope it isn't true.
[Edited 6/11/09 18:03pm]

Hell, I grew up in the roughest, toughest part of Detroit! I can tell you for a fact that I have seen some doped up people do some pretty amazing shit that while sober, they could NEVER, EVER do!

I'm NOT saying that Prince was doped up when you saw him jumping! I'm just saying that it's not entirely impossible for him to be able to jump on a bad hip or two, if indeed he were!

Hmmmm... I used to be a dancer and it's AMAZING what you can do ON STAGE that backstage just two minutes before you wouldn't do for $1,000,000. Backstage "Ouch, ouch, my hamstrings / hips are KILLING me, I can hardly walk, I'm crippled!" a few minutes later... on stage. "You want me to jump into splits from a very great height...? NO problem..!" "Jump up and down, pah, nothing..." Being on stage can be like a drug in itself, 'tis true! nod

I believe that Prince has hip problems and I wouldn't be surprised if he took some painkiller for it but to say he's addicted to them, now THAT is a bit much cause something would be off with him. Whatever the deal is, I hope and pray that he stops being afraid to deal with this issue, and just deal with it so that he can be at his best. He has a LOT of people counting on him to do the right thing for himself, let alone for us.

it is not at all unheard of for people to become addicted to prescription painkillers. in fact, it's pretty common.

it's not at all. it almost happened to me when i injured my AC joint. I'm glad I didn't ask for more meds once I realized that I didn't need them but damn if they weren't a trip. lol

Totally, and it's not true that someone addicted to them is always going to look or act off in some way - it's not always like Paula Abdul. lol

It is amazing the pain that people can put up with doing something they love. Prince himself expressed that music is an inseperable part of his life. There are plenty of athletes that run in complet pain. If I am right the pianist Eubie Blake, who played piano until he was a very old man, had hands that were all but crippled by arthritis. Unfortunately I am a horror at spelling, but the man who inspired the movie "Quills" also continued to write despite the horror of his conditions.

I just wrote this to say that I think that yes someone could jump despite his condition. My sister need back and hip surgery. She avoids addiction by only taking her meds when she is in a situation where she really needs to. He may not take meds (if the rumors are true) at home in order to avoid addiction.

Ihope this is not true. All we can do is pray for prince that God will lead him in the right direction onthis topic in Jesus name. As for Jehovah witnesses they are against blood transfusion and substance abuse/drug addiction. One of my best friends father was a JW. Idont think having hip surgery would be against JW beliefs. Hip surgery is not a blood transfusion. However, there are some people who just dont trust any doctor to cut or operate onthem.Iknow alot of people like that:) If Prince feels like that he should start doingsome type of hip exercise everyday. He should start working his hip muscles and bones. He can get a therapist to massage him on a regular basis. He can also start doing squats-up and down up and down.It isnt going to be easy.Just take it slow.He definitely will feel pain as he is exercising, but the more he exercises that area he will probably feel alot better in the long run.

Peace,

Yeah well unfortunately, chronic and/or progressively worsening pain and the accompanying very real possibility of losing the ability to do normal, everyday activities and activities you love or are vital to your life and career, does feel quite a bit like dying. Add in the need for increasing dosages of painkillers and yeah, a part of you does begin to die.

I feel for Prince if he is in constant pain and needs hip surgery, but is in turmoil or even fear about having it done. You life stops being your own when a health issue (and pain) looms so large.

I do not believe that pain medicines are a good thing...Once in awhile maybe, as well as something 4 sleep here and there is better than disguising the pain.

If you are numb to something that is causing U pain...U can hurt yourself further by overusing your body. 4 Better or Worse...In Sickness or in Health...In Hate or In Love...I'll Be There 4 Prince. cool

Peace,

When you need a hip replacement, massages and hip exercises will not work. the ball and socket joint is torn up. The synovial fluid and the cartilage (all cushion between bone and bone) is inadequate or absent.. so now you have BONE ON TOP OF BONE.... GRINDING! Very painful. Have you ever heard your knees creak when squating down or something (I do, lol ) It is not a good feeling nor does it feel good.
You would try to minimize the movement to avoid further aggravation of joint. However with the knee and the hip... LITERALLY every step you take is painful and more injury.

It is really a no win situation, have the surgery or learn to live with pain and limited mobility.

Prince if this rumor is true... get the surgery after being cleared by a cardiologist for any undetected cardiac abnormalities. Not necessary but if you are extraordinarily anxious... this should ease your concerns.

What is the big deal whether Prince has hip problems or not. If he has something wrong with his hip, so do many other people in their fifties or even younger and nobody feels sorry for them.
Prince might not look like he's 51 but he is! So if there is some wear and tear it's completely normal and to be expected, especially with his long history of wearing heels. That will do it!
He'll be alright, don't you worry!
