No, implying that some religious folks are great like Dr.King, Ghandi, and Mother Teresa.

If you took the time to stop sterotyping religious people you might have taken into consideration some of the good things religion has done in the world.

I don't understand how intelligence and one's personal choice of a spiritual path R even related. That was disturbing 2 see such a grossly incorrect blanket statement. True, many intellects don't believe in God, but there scores and scores that do, including scientists and scholars of all types.

So now we have 2 discussions going on: Intelligence and religion, and benevolence and religion.

Certainly, the good 2 humankind that Dr King, Ghandi, and Mother Teresa have done cannot be denied.

U know... this is from "a source"...

How does this "source" know he's in such pain?

How do they know they R prescription drugs (pain killers) he's taking?

Could this source be making it up?

Jussst sayin'...

Hip damage (or more appropriately, hip wear) is fairly common in dancers and athletes, as Jen pointed out, and Prince was both 2 the extreme. But this seems like a shady source, and I don't know why people R saying Roger Freidman is credible.

SHEESH!

The source with him backstage is probably the bodyguards spilling all of Prince's info to everyone everwhere including Bria. Check past threads.

Poor Prince.

Yeah, but if this whole thing about a leak is true, then how do we know the info is correct?

Couldn't this be someone who has an issue with Prince, and he is making this up?

For someone with a hip problem he seems to move quite well to me. he seems to do a lot of posturing and though i know he doesn't boogey like he used to his recent TV performances seem to have a lot of slick movements,

I'm not saying that I feel people who have religious beliefs are not intelligent, I said it surprises me...you don't have to understand that.

And the good that those people did is not diminished because of their religious beliefs. I personally believe in the power of good, not God. God did not make them do good things. They did good things because they were good people, religious or not.

But we're talking about Prince's hips, right?

This hip thing hit the main news today. I felt sad. I have been studying the Bible with a JW and this blood thing does not gel with me. you can eat steak because "it's bleed correctly in the states" but it still has blood in it. Then they say you can't store your own blood and use that. I have a 7 year old daughter and I know that if she needed blood I wouldn't give a care if I was disfellowshipped. If P ends up using a walker by the time he's in his 60's the JW's will get ALOT of bad press. If P was just allowed to store his own blood he'd be able to have the surgery fairly soon.

They say there are other things that can be done but I don't think they'd work for major intrusive surgery like what he needs. This is just sad. It's unnecessary suffering that I can't imagine make Jehovah rejoice.

So R U saying that a belief in something "higher" than human existence isn't intelligent?

Maybe the confusion is because you, Greycap, and others R speaking of religion in the form of inclusiveness and dogma, so 2 speak.

I'd be the first 2 disagree with anyone who tells me my spiritual path is "wrong", because theirs is the only way (path).

I've had Christian, Muslim, Judaic, and Buddhist friends and such, and have always been open-minded about other paths, as long as the people involved don't judge mine.

EXACTLY!!!! nod

I'd gotten so used to seeing those ugly things and those platform Keds he's been sporting lately, that I was quite surprised to see he had his heels on the other night but then I thought about who he was going to see...Mama Patti!

I'd bet money had he shown up to see her with those things on, she'd snatched his ass up and took him to a hospital herself! I just know she tried to feed him! lol
I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

Hope Prince is doing fine. Wish him the best. I don't know if he truly has a hip problem. However, Prince has the right to handle his health issues in anyway he sees fit.

There is no reason to call someone a moron or calling someone's beliefs crap.
There are many doctors and scientists who have religious beliefs, so people are now going to call them dummies and morons because they have religious beliefs?

I don't believe that anyone's spiritual path is wrong. If people want 2 worship flys I could really care less. That said, worshipping flys does not make it true, when it is all said and done.

Well if that is true that is exactly what I stated earlier in the thread.
Most people are fearful of surgery and whatever complications are going to follow. It is too bad P's medical problems were turned into a lecture about the evils of religion. eek

Yeah, see this I can totally believe. At this age (50s), your mortality is suddenly very real. I'm not letting anyone put me under and cut into me unless it's absolutely necessary. Especially if you're not in good shape anyway, just the anesthesia can be a big problem.

I know that, were I in his position, I'd be scared shitless - and would do everything possible to avoid surgery. He could have complications from anesthesia, infection, the replacement joint - any number of things.

The possibility of emerging from surgery permanently crippled (or not emerging, at all) is very real.

You know, he's obviously an extremely fit and healthy man, he has access to, and can afford the best doctors in the world. Many people go through this procedure on a daily basis and come out perfectly well and with a new lease of life... or maybe he's worried about the scars... wink

Oh, and that IS a joke, don't throw bricks at me! razz

you also have to keep in mind that he has a very small frame, almost child like. surgery could have ramifications because of his stature/build alone and throw in his age on top of it.

You know I love you but I think your wrong this time Des. I do not have the literature on me. I'll look it up. Anyway it's something about being out of the body for a period of time and therefore not thought of as your own blood anymore. I will look it up

Good lord!! I know there can be complications from surgery, but we're not living in the dark ages!!! I sure hope P isn't reading this, it's not exactly what you'd want to hear if you where in that position!! I really hope he goes ahead with the surgery, and everything turns out ok. Anyone who can get on stage for 21 nights in close succession, play and sing live, with a huge amount of energy... then go on and do another show an hour later for 1/2/3 hours...without faltering at the age of 50 seems pretty fit and healthy to me.. obviously I don't KNOW what his medical history is or anything, but I'd say, looking in, that compared to a lot of men his age he's doing pretty well.

Well, I'm kind of small and petite like Prince, and I've had operations, it hasn't affected me, I don't think that's necessarily an issue, I think general health is probably more important... well, I'm not an expert or anything... I think we need a nurse in here... ! lol
