I think if P has hip problems he's in the early stages - as he is still walking and I don't think any of us notice a limp. It is well worth waiting; I know from experience. I don't need a hip replacement but I am scheduled for an ankle replacement. I wanted something done 5 years ago but was told to go as long as possible before making the decision, because of the risk of infection and at that time the only real choice was ankle fusion because ankle replacements 5 years ago were not that successful. Ankle fusion eventually destroys the rest of your body and I knew I didn't want that. Lo and behold Dr was right. In the last couple years total ankle replacements have come a long way; Europe has some wonderful hardware out there that allows great mobility. If I could wait longer, I would - but due to pain, I made the decision to go ahead with it this year. Of course I take meds but they don't make me crazy and I'm not dependent on them, any longer tho, I could be, so time is now. Medical breakthroughs happen every day - and maybe, just maybe he is in control of his pain and waiting. Plus this hardware doesn't last a lifetime, generally only 10-12 years, then you must re-do (if you're lucky). Waiting until you can't take it anylonger is the way to go.

I agree with you. He is way to vain to show up looking pitiful. I don't think he's the type to milk the talk show circuit as the poster boy for joint problems. Some celebrities milk their ilnesses for attention. I don't think P will stoop to that. If he's in pain I think he'll do his best to keep it to himself and put on his best face for his fans.

First, Jehovah's Witnesses are very well educated on the choices of surgery options without blood transfusions. I have watched the video that explains all of it. So Jehovah's Witnesses are not against having the surgery, but with a hip replacement surgery there is a lot of blood loss.

Second, Prince is an intelligent man and he will make the decision that is right for him. Nothing we say is going to influence his decision.

I believe his faith in God is strong and he will be fine. I am sure he has friends that will be right by his side to help him with anything he needs if he has or had the surgery.

Personally, I've thought that something might be going on with this issue for a while now. I want him to live a happy and healthy life.

you are right, they are well informed. And like you say hip replacement is very invasive and there is a big chance that alot of blood is lost. Unfortunately Jehovah's Witnesses are not allowed to use their own stored blood and that makes the idea of such surgery very scary.

So much to say.....

First of all, I don't think it matters if P needs a hip replacement or not. If he does, he knows it. Once you make your concerns known to someone you care about, you have to let it go. At the end of the day, they will do what they want. all I know is I really don't care. I think I'd rather focus on someone who gives a damn about me. I am really feeling like this is none of my business.

Next, the HQ thing. Whether it is true or not (and I will not believe this about P until it comes from him), the way they did J7 is enough to make me never give them kudos for being right.

Nextly, there is a lot misinformation about JWs on this thread.

Lastly, if Prince is afraid to get the surgery done because it admitting time is not actually a trick, he's hypocritical. If he doesn't do because he is afraid to die, he is hypocritical. Him caring what people think? Hypocritical.

I'm not saying that I feel people who have religious beliefs are not intelligent, I said it surprises me...you don't have to understand that.

And the good that those people did is not diminished because of their religious beliefs. I personally believe in the power of good, not God. God did not make them do good things. They did good things because they were good people, religious or not.

But we're talking about Prince's hips, right?

So R U saying that a belief in something "higher" than human existence isn't intelligent?

Maybe the confusion is because you, Greycap, and others R speaking of religion in the form of inclusiveness and dogma, so 2 speak.

I'd be the first 2 disagree with anyone who tells me my spiritual path is "wrong", because theirs is the only way (path).

I've had Christian, Muslim, Judaic, and Buddhist friends and such, and have always been open-minded about other paths, as long as the people involved don't judge mine.

thumbs up!

I'm just wondering where all the people who essentially said HQ was lying when they ran a similar story are now?

And when it's discovered that this is not just a rumor -- that he really does need hip surgery (which I believe is the truth), will they apologize? Prince is 51 (whether he wants to celebrate birthdays or not), he is not infallible as some like to believe, and there is nothing wrong with that.

What is wrong is jeopardizing one's health because of made-up religious crap. I hope Prince will realize this and get the medical help he needs regardless of what the Watchtower says.

well....If I remember correctly....it was reported that Prince HAD surgery, which was then, and again now, disproven.

Apologies 2 the mods of HQ that were so incredibly wrong. sad

There's ways around the blood transfusion thing, thereby allowing JW cult members to have surgery and NOT have a blood transfusion during surgery. Usually they donate their own blood ahead of time. And there are other ways around it. It's amazing to me that the same Bible Prince proclaims to read and study w/ friends says "Life is in the blood", so why NOT get blood to live? Aren't we all from the same source anyway, ultimately?

As far as his pain, it ain't a band member. It won't just go away where he can forget about it. It won't go away. Ever. Neither will his pill habit.

If a person is willing to give blood, to GIVE life, I don't understand how this goes against any law. It's selfless, and to receive it would be the ultimate in showing humility and grace. It ISN'T cannibalism confuse

just to add to the mess; I was speaking to a JW friend of mine about a member's relative. Seems the grandemother did have a hip replacement without a blood transfusion. The problem is it didn't take, mostly because of other health conditions.. Grams waited until she was on total bedrest to tell the doctor she's willing to try it again. The doctor said it is too late at this point. So I guess you can wait too long.

Well your memory must be faulty, because it was never disproven that he did not have surgery. You believe whatever you want, I'll believe what I know.

Them Jehovah Witnesses' are very serious about their beliefs. It's like choosing between the lesser of two evils. I'd rather him get the surgery than become a pill popping addict! I heard he had the surgery already.

I'm pretty sure if he did have the surgery the Jehovah Witnesses' will forgive him.

well.....if someone needs a double hip replacement, then BOTH hips (a person has 2) needs 2 be replaced.
Now unless Prince has 3 hips, That kinda hints that the first reported hip replacement ummm didn't happen.

The religiosity (is that even a word) that some faith groups profess can cause consternation and confusion.

My Step Mother is a JW and when she needed surgery to repair rsi damage to both her arms there was NO QUESTION, she went ahead and had the ops and has had a great recovery.
You can't tell her she is not a true JW because just because she chose to go ahead and have surgery and she doesnt believe she is less faithful to God because she went against the JW doctrine and had the surgery.

Salvation is earned by Grace through faith and not by works..

If J7 was correct and Prince has had previous surgery then this entire argument that he is hesitating as it is against the JW doctrine argument is moot, as if he had surgery before (being JW) then he could have another surgery if he felt he needed it.
One minute they want peace……

Then do everything to make it go away. rolleyes
