Dance 4 Me is great...at times it feels like "Sex Shooter" which just adds to that old school feel. No More Candy 4 U is definitely my fav track on the disc, just because its like Little Richard on acid.
I wanna be loved to the 9s, so let me cover your ass with this sheet, and baby, you better stay on the beat! Cause you know the Karma Sutra? I can rewrite it. But, with half as many words.

Listen to it twice.
The three stand outs for me are
Valentina, Old Skool Company (Is it Camille), he even name drops Morris Day, and No more candy 4 u a great answer song and successor to FUNK.
I really think he should have put Dreamer on this album, it sounds more in place here rather than the poppier Lotusflow3r.
So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

Dreamer would sound terribly out of place on the poppy, synthetic fake-funk of MPLSound.

I totally agree with you Gohi. It would have been all kinds of wrong to put that song on MPLSound.

We have a winner, Prince's best since the 80s, I just love this album, Its so funky, danceable and is so classic. We have all the Linn keyboards and the When Doves Cry Drum thing along with some driving pop and rock. This is the type of thing hes been hiding from us for years. Only one grumble, the songs a lot the same. I love the whole retro 80s feel, and its ounds like hes having fun again with his music.

Track by Track

(There'll never b) another like me, funky opener with interesting lyrics, sounds like 3121 and sounds cool 9/10 cool
Chocolate Box, Another winner Really catchy dancy and fun, 80s type controversy feel and 1999 style electr bop, great retro sound 9/10 cool
Dance 4 me, sexy and funky bop, sounds like the first two 8/10 biggrin
U're gonna c me, Sexy dancy ballad, very reminescent of some of my 80s favourites 8/10 biggrin
Here, not as strong, but still enjoyable, love his vocals 6/10 : smile
Valentina, catchy and sexy urban feel here, again hes mixing classic 80s and Gold Experience style lyrics. 8/10 biggrin
Better with time, a bit slow compared to the rest, ok ballad though 5/10 neutral
Ol Skool Company, Camille's back and boy have we missed him/her, super catchy and funky, great thought provoking lyrics, his best since 1988 10/10 cool
No More Candy 4 U, great upbeat closer and carries on the flow of the previous track. Overall its a great end to a great album. 10/10 cool

Overall a score of 81 that puts it in league with albums like Controversy and Dirty Mind, easily his best album in years cool
So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

After a couple days of listening, Dance 4 Me is the one I keep replaying.
Starts funky and doesn't let up.

Chocolate Box has a good start, but kind of peters out - in my opinion.

Overall, I think I like Lotus Flow3r better, though.

Listening to "No More Candy 4 U", when he sings:

2 ALL THE PUNX WHO WANNA B ROCK STARS AND DO WHAT THEY DO
THERE’S NO FUTURE 4 U THAT’S THE LIFE OF A FOOL

Is he talking about people who play either Guitar Hero or Rockband? It seemed to fit but wasn't sure.

I don't even think it fits on Lotus, but it definitely doesn't fit on MPLSound

Gohi

It's ironic that the song Better With Time on this album because it's only gotten worse and worse for me as time wears on.

Ol' Skool Company has to be one of his most boring, meandering songs ever... and I just really don't like Better With Time at all. I can't even listen to the first two songs anymore. Here is such a gem though, as is Dance 4 Me.

How wrong can one person be, this album is not shit, I can not get over the amount of funk he has squeezed on to one album. Its great. My rating is 81 percent a lot higher than 2.5 stars

This CD was like night and day to Lotuse. and MLPS is the sorry one of the 2 CD's. the songs are long, boring, and just missing something.

while the other CD is not great, it has some good trax and great guitar. but this one.....its just not good.

i can here some "sounds" used in the older albums from the 80's on here, but so what if the songs stink.

no point going into details as so many others have already done so on this post, but the bottom line is, of the 3 CD's only 1 stays in the car cd player and the other in the cd case at home....next to the 21 nites book cd and rainbow children never to be touched again.

I have to admit it
This album is more enjoyable than lotus.
There are a few top-notch songs on lotus but it's too much of a jumble.
I had to delete "the morning after"

Favourite song must be Valentine with it's following ballad "better with time"
"dance with me" is a cool song but too predictable.

but, all in all MPLSOUND doesn't have a one weak link!!!!!

(damn, and I thought I wuz a wocker)

HERE is the best song on this album. I feel Princes heart crying out for the one he truly loves and it made me cry, not that its a hard thing to do, but this song really touched me! I hope he can love a woman this time around without cheating like he cheated on every single woman he ever married or dated in his life!!

Why cant men love 1 woman and be satisfied!! You cant have your cake and eat it too and expect a woman to take it and shut up!. I want to believe in love again but I know i will never stay with a man who cheats on me EVER AGAIN. Immature boys cheat and lie and real Men are loyal and take care of their wife. I dont blame Halle Berry for never wanting to get married ever again. It will take alot for me to go there again. Good men are way too hard to find!!

l agree HERE... is one of the best song on there....l can see this song wining the best single like future baby mama did ,,, l be surprise if lm right...

l agree loyal men are hard to find these days...prince sang this song comin from his heart and tht truly has touched me....in a very big way... wink
lets hope he will be loyal this time around to the one hes in love with wink
