Dance 4 Me, Ol Skool Company and No More Candy 4 U are funky. Well, Dance 4 Me and Ol Skool Company are definintely funky. No More Candy 4U is well, Ronnie Talk to Russia, Part 2 -- along the same vein as Private Joy / Annie Christian weird freak out fun stuff that Prince did back in the day.

was kinda surprised at how decent this was . pretty good . loved the first 2 songs (which i had heard already, of course ). he repeats the chorus ("i like it when you dance for me") in dance 4 me way too much for me to be feeling it too much, but it's o-kayyy. LOVE the new version of u're gonna c me. maybe even over the original . here is okay. valentina is the shit! asking someone's daughter to hook up with they moms. prince is crazy . beat is kickin' too . better with time isn't bad. don't really like ol' skool company at all . the beat is kinda meh. don't see the days of wild comparison at all either. maybe it'll rock live . no more candy 4 u is another fave. too funky. yeah, new prince stuff . happy days

on first listen, chocolate box was better than I expected from the opening sample we had a few weeks ago.

edit: on second listen, it's much, much better than I expected.

Hey - this is a little off-topic, but I notice we're all online. This is fun listening to his new stuff together.

A lot of this is actually pretty awesome.

Everything after the first two tracks ranges from good to great! Especially the last two tracks. I did not expect No More Candy 4 U to be so delirious... and awesome.

Agreed. I love Dance With Me. Really made me have hope for the album after Chocolate Box. It actually made me wanna dance.

OLD SKOOL COMPANY!! this may be his best funk arrangement with lyrics that has been done in years...it is very much in the pocket of Musicology lyrically but with much more interesting music and some nice recent references to the White House, bailouts, done in the voice of Camille...the works smile

No more candy 4 U: A combination of Delirious and Peach...

Dance 4 Me: similar to Hot wit U but maybe a little better in some regards

Here: this is perfectly crafted synth-pop - a little syrupy but very nice I guess

Valentina: this sounds like it came straight out of the 80s - I wasn't sure I was going to like it but at a second listen I am strangely enjoying it

The ballads are both pretty good...nothing to really add here.

I actually found both albums to be pretty good - much better (again in my opinion) than Planet Earth and in some ways 3121...

Dance 4 Me is by far my favorite track... THAT's what I'm talkin bout Prince! Ol' Slool Company... serious funk. Even Chocolate Box redeems itself somewhat in the last half. U're Gonna C Me... wasn't really a fan of the original that much and just as meh about this version.

I can't get over how good "no more candy 4 u" is. definitely a controversy-album vibe there. he sounds hungry again! love it! I honestly think there's like 3 weak songs in the whole package. (not counting bria. heh)

All I can say this is his funkiest album in years!!! Let's just say much better than Musicology or 3121 but I think this because I like funky Prince. Not getting into Lotusflower as much though, may have to listen a few times.
