so im confused, if this is the import...its cheaper then the actual uk release!

i think its almost certain that the actual uk version price is just a little mishap

Look again at the import on your link. It says that it is only one disc. The UK release is 3 discs!

Why not ask amazon?

I have offered it before, and there is a post already started in The Marketplace Forum for those that would like a copy that don't live in the states, but I would be willing to pick up copies for others when I get mine.. Just send me an orgnote! biggrin

I'm off to the States Fri 10th April cool staying near quite a few Target stores, I guess I could buy some for you guys & post when I get home? Works out approx GBP 9.22 per copy plus UK postage which is not that much. Anyone know what the customs restrictions are? Don't fancy a full body search wink

That is really taking the piss to charge $11.98 at Target in US then charge £33.29 in the UK.

No thank you.

It's ok to say after so much time the price will come down but that's beside the point. I own every album Prince has released. I won't be paying that so I guess I'll need to miss out until . . . . tumbleweed

There is no Target outside of the USA, so we have to pay the normal price. It's that simple.

That's not a normal price. That's double what anything like that goes for these days.

He can fuck off if it stays that price. I'll get it illegally cos I sure a hell am not paying for downloads for an album I'm going to have on CD at any time in the future, be it 10 years from now second hand for £3, I'm not paying for a download.

I pay for random tracks from iTunes, but only when it's crappy fluff I know I'll never buy on CD. Usually I download leaked albums from my fav artists when I already have the CDs on pre-order, but £33 is FAR FAR FAR too much. I paid less for concert tickets.

The price of these Imports that Amazon.co.uk are selling has nothing to do with Prince as someone who actually has their head screwed on pointed out in their post above.
As for those who are ranting about it being cos MJ announced 50 shows in London, c'mon, use the brain ur God gave u. Sheesh!

So Prince has no idea what large retailers are selling his music for?
I doubt that.
I would not say it has anything to do with MJ.

The MJ stuff is just silly. The price and outlet for the CD IS princes call. No record company remember. He has to weigh up the different options available to him, and then pick accordingly. He picked badly.

I don't really wanna get into an argument with anyone over this, just got back from the chiropractor and my back hurts worse than it did this morning, but Prince did a deal with Target, I think that if Amazon or whoever than decide to Import it to the UK that's down to them, Prince aint gonna care what price they charge so long as he gets what was originally agreed for the deal with Target.

That's the way I see it anyway. I may well be wrong, i usually am.
Whichever way it is, folk ranting and raving on here aint gonna make a jot of difference.

Someone on here already very thoughtfully offered to bring some copies back with them, take them up on their offer.

Life's too short to be getting an ulcer over the price of a CD, so if you can't have it the day of release and gotta wait a couple weeks, is that so bad?

btw the way this is just a general post and not directed at anyone in particular.

taking the target deal out of the equation for a moment. That price is still higher than most new releases. And I mean 3 new releases. The thought of paying above the norm for that Bria shit is just too much. As a freebie with two new (short) P CDs, ok. But for that price? Just wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

It is 124 in the overall music chart on Amazon. As it climbs up, the price will come down.

I've asked them. I'll let you know what their response is.

"Dear Customer

Thank you for contacting Amazon.co.uk with your enquiry.

We do understand your concern regarding the price of the item in our website. Please know that you will notice that there is some crossover between the Amazon catalogues, some items being available for order at more than one of the websites.

At Amazon it is our goal to offer you the best selection at the best prices, regardless of where you live. However, copyright law prohibits the selling of foreign editions when a local publisher has acquired the rights to that item. This is why you may find that some titles are listed on one Amazon site at a different price than at another.

When it is possible, it is our policy to offer you the least expensive of available editions, but the cost of importing an item can increase its price.

There may be some cases, due to fluctuations in availability or
exchange rates, where it will be better to make your order at one of the other Amazon sites. For this reason, we would encourage you to continue to shop and compare between the two sites and choose the combination of speed, price and availability that best suits your needs.

Please remember that orders placed on one Amazon site will be processed independently of any orders you may have placed on another Amazon site. We cannot combine orders across the different sites.

I will happily pass your message on to the appropriate department who will be glad to review your suggestion. Customer feedback such as yours helps us to continue improving the selection and service we provide. We appreciate the time you've taken to write to us.

If you have any other suggestions for us or would like to make a comment at another time, simply send us an e-mail."

The above was in response to the following email:

Hi,

Amazon appear to be the only UK retailer listing the new Prince album, but it costs four times as much here as what Amazon US are selling it for. Unfortunately, as Amazon US are selling it through Target it is impossible to import it, so the only way to order it in the UK at the moment is from this hideously overpriced page. There is much speculation on Prince forums that this price must be a mistake. Please could you confirm this?
