Wow! What a great story! I cannot wait for these albums to drop. Hell, I'm even excited about Bria's CD and what Prince did to that one. 2009 is gonna be one hell of a ride for us!

"Hold on 2 ur wigs!"
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I think ppl who use the term Kool-Aide drinker are drinkin some groupthink...

I am not saying you must like everything pr can't voice your opinions just that when you have expectations set you are setting yourself up to be disappointed..

nawwww some of us have been fans for way too long to have any such expectations, i for one would be pleasantly surprised if one of the albums was good.

THAT is the crap people get annoyed with.

"Good" is subjective. Not everyone here is a sycophant apologist, but if the man doesn't put out music you want to hear, then stop coming here and bitching about it. It's not going to change things.

Musicology *was* a good album. A great album.

3121 was a good album, not a great album.

Planet Earth was mediocre, with 3 good tracks on it.

We "kool-aid" drinkers, who don't really drink any kool-aid, don't get annoyed that you dislike some of the stuff he's producing. We get annoyed at ignorant, blanket statements like the one quoted above.

If that's how you feel, really and truly, you aren't a fan of his new stuff, just his old stuff. Your choice, your taste in music. More power to you.

But don't come in here and make statements so blatant and not expect fans to say, "Yeah, you're full of it."
I wanna be loved to the 9s, so let me cover your ass with this sheet, and baby, you better stay on the beat! Cause you know the Karma Sutra? I can rewrite it. But, with half as many words.

And though Prince had been open about many things, he's also an expert at wielding the phrase "off the record."

Wonder what was said "off the record"...

That song references both Carlos Santana and Jimi Hendrix, but asked about the influence of the latter rock god, Prince demurred. "I try to play guitar like singers I like," he said, later adding, "Don't you think journalists can be lazy, I mean, when they make comparisons?"

Man, talk about old-school Prince!

That is hilariously funny.

(Especially when there R most definitely intentional musical nods 2 Hendrix... "Wall of Berlin", which JAMS, goes into something that sounds like it could have even COME from the 'Electric Ladyland' album... it's got a bit of the Band of Gypsies vibe 2. YES, it is distinctively Prince as well.

That's it right there!!!! Now I am not a "kool-aid drinker" or a "fam". I am just a fan who tries to be positive about Prince & his music. I try to focus on what's good with him and I try to be objective but I can see the forest from the trees too. I just choose not to focus on the negatives unless it becomes too much. I've been one of the people to ask questions to other fans about "why would you be in a place for someone you're not feeling?" and as it's their right to say what they say on here, it's also my right to ask the questions I wanna ask, since this is a public forum. I try not to ask in a malicious manner, it's just to understand the person and continue the conversations. Thank you bleutuna for saying what you said. It was on point.

Now back to the article, that was a great picture of Prince. It was his usual "cold stare" look that I've always loved seeing Prince do. I just can't wait to hear what these CD's sound like.

Love his take on detractors.

Love the joint line.

I was JUST thinking about that. If he releases anything before Jan 20, I'll be surprised. I'll be surprised if releases anything on Jan 20th considering what'll be happening in D.C. that day.

As is Target.

Those are the two stores you can just about find anywhere, but I like target better. Best Buy runs out of cds and other stuff too fast, especially in the area I live because it is so populated. lol

There's really only 4 choices that make any sense at all

- walmart, the #1 CD retailer
- Best Buy
- Target

and a wild card in Starbucks

I'd prefer it not be Target as there isn't a target in my town.

walmart might be the #1 retailer, but it isn't an immediate choice when thinking about music, not for me anyway.

Best buy, target, and even starbucks seem like they will all do about the same, I even think starbucks might benefit him more. It seemed to help boost Paul McCartney's Memory Almost Full album

The trick is to be somewhere where people who aren't checking prince.org, but who have bought Prince cds in the past, will find the CDs. That most likely means extended exposure in one of those displays in the front of walmart or a featured at starbucks. You want to get the people who wouldn't normally even go looking in the music section of the store as there are a lot of 30 or 40 something people who bought a lot of prince albums in the past, but who don't pay too much attention to music these days.

Hmm....if it's really about anyone in particular that's current, my bet is on Rihanna. She's the so-called "it" girl everywhere right now.

So who is, or rather what is "the most popular girl in the whole wide world"?

My take is "$" -- cash money. Money is "the most popular girl in the whole wide world."

Just a ? -- even though Prince said "Turn Me Loose" was just a stand-alone track with no home, and after hearing portions of "Lotus Flow3r" the past few weeks, do you think "Turn Me Loose" will fit?

I'd like to see "Turn Me Loose" on "Lotus Flow3r," despite it being a JB-inspired joint, it has strong guitar work, and that's what "Lotus Flow3r" is.
