Since dec. 1985. when I saw the Purple Rain concert on the telly. So 23 years...

I'm 37 now, and I've been a fan since the 1999 album (1982-ish).

1999 was my first album, followed by Purple Rain . . . then I worked backwards to his debut, then forward again starting with ATWIAD and every one since . . .

I missed out on all of the 80s concerts - I was either too young and/or didn't have enough money. I've seen Jam Of The Year, Hit N Run, One Nite Alone (including soundcheck) and Musicology.

Gee, Se7en you filled out me responce for me. I bought the "1999" single but did not like the b-side "How come you don't call me anymore". The I bought the "Little Red Corvette" single. Then "Delirious" with "Horny Toad" I was so hooked. So I bought the "1999" album. Then "Purple Rain" I then worked backwards. Then I've bought evey album after that on the day of release.

I didn't see him live untill 1990, Nude Tour in St Paul. I've seen him 3 more times since then.

When I was a kid a neighbor had the Controversy album and even though I was too young to completely feel it, that would be where the seed was planted. One year for Christmas, maybe 84 or 85, I got the Purple Rain and 1999 LP's and I've been on board ever since.

Since 1982. First time I saw him on SOLID GOLD singing LITTLE RED CORVETTE well I used to KISS the TV set and everytime I went into a RECORD store I would plant kisses on his albums. One day I took like alot of money out of the bank and ran to the VILLAGE and bought EVERY SINGLE RECORD, POSTER ANYTHING with PRINCE's PICTURE on it. But, I didn't get to go to a Concert until PURPLE RAIN. That was a MAGICAL BEAUTIFUL EXPERIENCE for me.

dont get me wrong, the "old" fans are great, but a fresh crop of prince fans always warms my heart. I have full respect for "prince" fan 81-prince fan 2008.
