New Power Soul. I know it's not supposed to be a "Prince" album, but it really is.

I also don't like his firs album, For You.
And don't care for Diamonds & Pearls, though it has 3 really good tracks on it.

Dont listen to 'For you' much now but i dont think its his worst,
has for 'd & p' it served a purpose for Prince at the time, managed to get hold of a copy of the live gig at Earls Court London which was filmed ,
Must be one of the best gigs ,amazing show.
and New Power Soul, just get pissed it sounds amazing!

Kamasutra does probably suck worse than anything he's done, but you have to look at the context. It was just a bonus disc for Mayte.

NPS and Rave were major releases, and that makes them more offensive.

I think we need to make a distinction between your least favorite and truly worst Prince album. They're not always the same.

I loathe the majority of the lyrics on TRC, but I'd be a fool to call it his worst album because it's full of inspired songwriting and warm production. The fact that I can't relate to it should not be held against it.

I strongly disagree on that part, having listened to so much better fusion jazz to ever believe its anything but mediocre.
Pick up a Herbie Hancock record, then tell me if you still think the same way about TRC
"Headhunters", now that’s inspired!

TRC has been so cringeworthy to me on so many levels from the first time I listened to it, from the truly bad lyrics,to that lame 70's fusion jazz version of his standard 90's sound.

All the tunes sound like familiar Prince records, I kept thinking to myself "what song does that remind me of?"
1+1+1=3 for example is a lame version of "erotic city"
Nothing inspiring about that.

If you like it fine, but the only inspiration it gives me, is to never listen to it again.

No disrespect, but the 12 kids here who praise TRC should really listen to more stuff outside Prince to get a better gauge of the really great music out there, and missing out on. and I’m speaking as a huge Prince fan.

I wholeheartedly believe TRC belongs on top of that giant heap of Prince's recent worst albums.

Uhh I specifically said I don't like it. Even if the songs do nothing for you, they are inspired. The one thing no one can take away from Prince on this album is that he clearly put his heart and soul into it. You can tell from every song that he really believed in this album. Come on, can't you at least give the album credit for its production values? It's probably the best produced Prince album in the guy's career.

I have repeadedly tried to listen to TRC objectively, but i always end up throwing it out of my cd player before its over.
This is the only Prince CD that actually pisses me off!, all the other bad CD's mentioned are just bad, this one is so bad it pisses me off! lol

I would include the silly overbearing narative as part of its "production values" Its just too much cheese, and i dont think he puts his heart and soul into anything anymore really, everything always sounds half ass hastely put together on the days whim. "today i will wear feathers, no a fedora, maybe i will record jazzy...no wait i will be a mascot for a honey collective" Thats as much heart & soul i think Prince puts into anything nowadays. Which is cool i guesssss.

I tend to dislike any RnB that Prince does. It's just so dull. That whole side of the genre almost (give me Erro anyday!).

But I do like TRC. New Power Soul is highly skippable as is Rave.

But it's the RnB slush that I dislike the most. Girls music.

Funny, there used to be much more of a consensus on here. I guess diversity is good, though...
PE would get my vote
KS, NPS, Rave come in 2nd (I agree with PK's comments - at least Rave has ILUBIDTUAM and is therefore a bit better, but then NPS has Wasted Kisses, which no-one's mentioned...).

I love TRC (even tho bits are offensive) and I like NEWS
LS just rulez (how can anyone dis it?)

The new album he has just completed is the worst he has ever done.

I haven't heard any of the songs mindyou, but I thought I'd get my criticism in early.

I bet it's a concept album about biscuits, the first half of the songs will be reggae and the second half thrash metal.

It will be called 'I can't be arsed anymore'

Why do you think he stopped production and shipping of the Black Album? Why do you think he put the message "Don't buy the Black Album" in his Alphabet Street video? I only got it because I knew it would be a collector's item, and I got it years before it became an official release. But it is God awful. When 2 R In love and Bob George are the only two tracks worth mentioning.

diamonds and pearls was the 1st album i was ashamed of. even people in university that were fans of U2 or jason donovan liked it.

NPS is a great album btw and rave sucks pretty much

musicology is diamonds and pearls 2nd part. same feeling.

watching prince playing with beyonce in the 00s was so dissapointing.

i always thought prince was gonna be in a sakamoto or miles davis galaxy in the 00s decade....

and see where we are
