I think Huey made it up, but it's what he WISHES would happen...

True.

When everythings released from the vault.. when theres like headless horseman galloping from the sky, maybe 2012. I'll get excited.

Until then he's like hanging out with Paris Hilton in LA or something and being a sold called mascot for the black version of the spice girls/pussycat dolls. Like that's ground breaking or something.

Yeah, as much as I love the hits live. I've seen him play the hits time and time again. And I think he needs to bring out 5-6 new albums all at once and bring it back to the ONA level and play some new stuff, and shelve the hits. Maybe release Crytal Ball 2??

Ahh 2012.

I'd usually say either, but since I didn't get really good seats for his last tour, plus his last album was lackluster...I really wish he'd do a US tour right about now biggrin
If you will, so will I

new music. though i love seeing him live, it's a one-off event. even if a new album is only so-so, it's got a longer shelf-life of enjoyability.

He usually doesn't do one without the other. I'd probably say new music, 'cause I can afford it more than I can concert tickets.

Although, going to a Prince show is one of the best musical experiences anyone will ever have!!!

As far as him playing the same "tired old hits". What the hell else should you expect to hear at a Prince concert, but Prince songs???

He's not playing for a couple dozen orgers in the crowd who want to hear 24 minute version of Witness for the Prosecution, but for the 20,000 other people in the crowd that pay a lot of money to hear those songs.

You wanna hear obscure Prince stuff, go to an aftershow or listen to your bootlegs!!!

If it comes to a choice between hearing Purple Rain for the 8,000th time or his take on Play That Funky Music (or the Santana or Sly Stone medleys), then I'm going to choose Purple Rain.

Since Prince seems to have forgotten America exists, a new record would be more appreciated, if there's even the slightest chance it wouldn't suck as hard as his last few.

he usually tests out new songs when he's on tour, anyway. he was playing "black sweat" and "prince & the band" on the musicology tour, and i remember hearing him play "temptation" on the purple rain tour. so touring = new material. THE QUESTION IS MOOT!!! biggrin

no.

LITTLE KNOWN FACT: vegas, mpls and the superbowl were all banned from america just before the 3121 album was released. those areas are now technically part of italy. nod

Don't forget about Coachella, which was in California. And all of those late night Roosevelt Hotel jams.

He's played a lot of shows in America for someone who hasn't toured the country in 4 years!!!
