I read on another board that Oscar winner Marion Cotillard attended. My two favorite ladies and Oscar winners Tilda Swinton and Marion were partying w/ Prince at his house. Damn, wish I could've been there.

Those are his two biggest songs. Do you expect him to do rap covers? He has not performed with P in a long ass time and everytime I saw him perform with P the crowd loved it.

He doesn't need to do covers, but how about branching out into some of his other songs...or coming up with something new? omfg It's tired, just like it's tired when Prince does Let's Go Crazy (replete with the 'go go go' chant).

I am sorry but his rhymes are better than what your hearing now and a good mc only needs to rock the crowd. Which he does reasonably well.

"Reasonably" - It is rap you do not have to do anything beyond be resonable.

nod Amen to that. I feel the same way about all the great artists I see perform. I am going to see Santana in April and I don't care what he plays because, like Prine, he is that good. With great artists the true gift is that they share their gift with us. I NEVER get tired of seeing Prince perform. I've seen him about five times since Musicology and while the core songs are similiar he still mixes them up. He has added many songs since then. Over the years of his career Prince has played a greater variety of songs than any artist I know.

Also, keep in mind that the vast majority of people have not seen him 20 times or listened to/watched countless bootlegs of live performances. So to them it is new, it's definitely not tired or old.

falloff Sweet! I got labeled a 'hater' for pointing out that Prince performs Let's Go Crazy at virtually every live performance. lol Yeah, that's vicious hate right there. I'm spewing venomous hate left & right. falloff Get over yourself.

I remember I used to get weekly invites via email from the purple underground out of MNPLS for parties at Paisley Park. Being in Detroit and getting the invites at the last minute made it impossible for me to ever attend. I wonder how I can get no the list for the L.A. parties, and get like 2 weeks advanced notice so I can book a flight, schedule vacation time, and save up the ca$h. Or I could just throw a party at my house in Detroit and put up a cardboard cut-out of P and Doug E.????? hmmmm..... razz

I AM an artist. So you don't have to ask me about looking at it from the artist's point of view. My response was to the people who, in my opinion, are not looking at it from an artist's point of view. They are never satisfied and continue to complain on here no matter what Prince does. They seem to just want to hear Prince go through his catalog for their own personal reasons. Otherwise, they would not complain when he plays covers or crap on his new music by continuing to contrast it with music from 20 years ago.

If you have ever seen any of my posts, I am one of the main people who stands up for Prince's newer music and his experimentations. I definitely am not stuck in the past. I have enjoyed Prince's musical journey during the mainstream and more obscure times. One of the things I liked about the Vegas aftershows was the branching off into some of my jazz favorites like "Footnotes" from Miles Davis. Yet, even in that setting people complained that there was no "LRC" or "Prince" music. My response was that Prince is playing it so it is Prince music to me.

So to clarify, my point is not that I want Prince to play what makes me happy. My point is that as talented as he is he can play ANYTHING and I am happy to witness his musicianship. I don't go to a Prince concert with a setlist in my head, nor do I keep track of everything he plays. I just enjoy the musical journey. For example, the ONA shows were fantastic to me. I loved hearing the RBC music live. When he said he wasn't going to do old school at those shows some were angry, but I could care less. I was witnessing some of the best musicians in the world play some great music. But like I said, I wouldn't have complained if he did a show of covers or hits. When people complain about the covers, my response is that maybe he is playing them because he enjoys them. It gives a glimpse into what he likes. Back in the day he really didn't have the opportunity to play covers of songs he likes so now he is. What's wrong with that. I remember at a Tamar show when they did "Love Changes" by Mother's Finest. He seemed to really enjoy it. It was fun for the Chicago audience too, because most of the R&B heads knew the song and sang along. So if he likes it, I love it. At the end of the day, I just like experiencing the man play music. Hopefully that clarifies my point.

it does and i highlighted the parts of ur post that i agree with the most. i feel u about how others around complain that he didn't do this or that, got that after witnessing the mind blowing per4mance in NYC at the palladium. after we're drenching with funk sweat, incredible music and our jaws dropped in awe not wanting the night 2 end..someone has 2 ruin the party by moaning that he didn't do LRC rolleyes His career didn't begin with 1999 and end with purple rain. there is a lot of music that the man has produced and created that haven't gotten their shine on like they need 2 b. hence after listening 2 the aftershows in london last year, i cherrish those more than the main set cause he was able 2 flex his legs and b creative.
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81

No offense to Dr. Funkenberry, who can't even spell Rosario Dawson's name correctly, but has news of the afterparty appeared anywhere more reputable? Reputable among celeb gossip blogs, that is?

Anthony Michael Hall & Dane Cook aren't exactly A Listers, are they?
