The evidence suggests that he was already doing quite well financially when 3121 was released. He made a ridiculous amount of money from the musicology tour.

Of course he can be selfish. I can't figure out why people seemed to be shocked by that?


p.s. Why do W&L get such a pass around here for being the greatest thing ever since ever? I mean they're talented, but if they score an episode of heroes, people act like it's a damn masterpiece.

Well, first of all, I guess I haven't had my nose dug in this stuff as deep as others like yourself. I have only seen these events from own limited vantage point, and what I percieve may of course not be true.

btw I am not into W&L at all. I didn't know that they had scored Heroes before about a week ago. Up until then I thought that they were pretty much on street corners with tin cups.

I know. This happens all of the time in the music business. Sometimes I think the man acts off whim. My wife remembers the one thing I have said about Prince, she not being a fan she can be a very critical thinker over this matter, and that is when he is not doing so well finacially, when the hits aren't there and the ticket sales aren't great, he will kiss the fan base ass and do all he can to please us. He will even put out a great album like 3121. But when the cash comes to rolling in, he get's strange and will shun the whole world. It isn't a mystery, it's just plain old fashioned simple minded selfishness.
