Its one thing after another with Prince isnt it? I kinda feel sorry for the poor chap. neutral

Maybe he feels he has to be the pioneer to break down walls so that other artists will have free reign and total control over thier music. I can applaud that but it seems he feels he has to do it in one fell swoop and doesnt care who or what he knocks down in the process. Not alot of thinking going on with his lawyers it seems- just greed.

But in other ways I feel he is personally very lonley and insecure when it comes to his music/buisness. Only a paraniod man would make so many moves at once.

Reading how Pirate Bay has responded to other suets I believe Prince probably wont get too far when it comes to this. But whatever he does I hope he will find peace soon so all this parading of power can stop.

Yeah! For all the whining the music industry did about Napster...Napster is back, legitimate...traded on the New York stock exchange...and if you click this link...http://www.napster.com/ch...index.html...the very first picture you see is of someone that used to be near and dear to all of our hearts!

Wake up from your slumber Sleeping Beauty, the world's passing you by! This is not about copyrights...it's about control!!

In case you still don't get it...I'll spell it out for you. When the music industry couldn't control Napster...it was touted as pure evil and criminal by any means necessary!

Once they shut Napster down and figured out how to use Napster's technology for their own greedy benefit...Napster then became the greatest thing since sliced bread according to the same folks that vilified it every chance they got!

piratebay is one of the biggest bit torrents websites but the problem is its not a very good bit torrent website.

you can find more stuff on demonoids.com which is a member only website but they have open registrations once a month.

There are many other places to download all the Prince music you want. The Pirate Bay was never and will never be the place.

This is what he should have done in the first place.
The torrents are the problem. Not the fans. People don't use torrents to share personal photos, tattoos, baby videos. They use them to download entire albums, collections, movies, applications. If it's out there, it's on the torrents.

This is not greed, this is getting to the root of the problem. Unfortunately now this will be lumped in with all the other stuff.

The only problem is that going after them can be a little difficult because of the way they're structured.

I think perspective is being lost on this issue

Fans buying material by an artist dont own the rights to that material, thats a given

That isnt the issue here and noone is saying they own the material or the artist

Conversely because someone is a fan, an artist doesnt own them

And that is what this is all about

Just because a person is a fan, it doesnt give an artist the right to dictate what they can say, where they can say it or to whom

The also dont own the rights to the fans intellectual property

Fans dont own artists, and artists sure as hell dont own the fans

stop the press for a sec. if it's a site that boasts about bootlegs/pirated copies then it had it coming. i think he should focus on *this* stuff alone though. photobucket/fan sites are pretty harmless.

disbelief Oh yes, that's soooo much better than me say...buying what I want from Prince directly from his really cool website that has a store just filled to the brim with everything he "allegedly" wants to be paid for, right?

The demand is there but he doesn't want any parts of the supply but then he whines and throws lawsuits around when someone else picks up the ball. In the 90's it was bootleggers and his fan sites. Today, it's file sharers and his fan sites.

He didn't stop the bootleggers then but he sure did stop a lot of fan sites from existing. I highly doubt he'll stop the file sharers but at least this time around, he doesn't just get to take that out on the fan sites!

My point is it's not about money, image protecting, copyright or feelings. It's about control and getting caught in the middle of the wrong Gemini's midlife crisis!

Exodus Ch.20v15 Thou shall not steal...Practical application-Guard against taking what is not yours. Old Testm (Lev.19:11,13 Deut.5:19) New Testm(Matt.19:18;Rom.13:9;Eph.4:28

Matthew Chp.21:33-41 The components of the parable are obvious:
The landowner is God; the vineyard is Israel; the vindressers are the religious leaders; The vinedressers have attempted to unsurp the authority of the owner and make the property their own--the essence of rebellion against God.

Thank u for the question. IMO the scriptures has certainly clarified this whole situation for me. I am confident in my support of Prince. My prayer is that this issue will be resolved very quickly. We must rightfully protect that which belongs to us. Peace

By suing The Pirate Bay in three different countries, Prince is hoping to put financial pressure on the service, Giacobbi said. Copyright laws in the United States and France would also make it nearly impossible for a site like The Pirate Bay to triumph, he claimed.

There is life beyond Prince, you could even get a job, meet a partner...there's bound to be someone out there who is not so choosey. You could go on a date even, see a movie...Just as long as you are home in time, don't want your mommy getting cross now !

Oh what a great way for introducing people to the "wonderful" world of bittorrent. it's not up on the pirate bay yet, but if you go over to mininova.org, you can find a copy of PFUNK.

And hey, if you are lucky you can score some rare bootlegs to download as well. Weee... a whole new world.

Seriously though, get a grip Prince Roger Nelson. Can you not see how archaic this all is and that the digital generation is laughing at you? There can be no respect. Cheeky and arrogant as it is, you should consider producing more songs like pfunk. Or you know what? Do nothing, turn your back to the world, but at least you can try not to make an ass out of yourself. I mean seriously, do your people really think you have the slightest chance of winning the "battle?"

OH DEAR!! surely your not suggesting that god himself is actually arsed about music copyright! thats the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. God can't even get round to helping starving, homeless, terminally ill, or abused people, just to mention a few of his defects, I'm sure a few bit torrents won't upset him now will they.

Not to mention that he doesn't exist anyway, and the bible is a load of made up crap. You do know that Santa Clause is made up too don't you? And the magical chocolate flying teapot?

I really can't do with people preaching the virtues of god at me, when he (if he actually existed) has so much to answer for.

oh and while I'm thinking about, surely this is all god's fault any way. As he is the divine creator of everything, and so must ultimately be responsible for the creation of pirate bay and bit torrents, not to mention copyright breach of course, and this site, which is pissing prince off.

So amazing how people actually believe this nonsense in this day and age. Have you actually ever thought things through with your own sense of reason, rather than simply regurgitating brainwashed scriptures which are 2000 years out of date, and have no validity in terms of the accuracy or the modern world.
