There is always going to be nonsense on a site with hatred, rumors, lies, etc, that clowns post. People will post things or converse in a manner they would not dare to in the real world. That comes with an open free forum. It's totally understandable if an artist get's upset about some of it. One example, www.vai.com, guitar virtuouso Steve Vai posted a full length statement a few months back after a cruel thread posting on his website stated he canned/fired his world reknown bassist Billy Sheehan. Steve was upset and clarified the situation. That being said, Prince VISITS these sites and I'm sure he's posted. Many would claim nobody at his level would deal this stuff. Ha ha. Celebrities have been discovered in chat rooms, dating sites and more. The internet gives them a chance to enjoy ANONYMITY with people and not the tiresome real world experience of the circus animal. Years ago there was a woman working in the bowels of the net service AOL in Arizona who had access to celebrity accounts on AOL (celebrities have enjoyed gift packages of AOL service, like the ritzy goody bags they get at award shows). She conversed with many and lots more playing the innocent chatter. I'd say roughly 70% of the time Prince.org and Housequake.com display threads with integrity-- talking, discussing, analyzing the Prince realm. It's a testament to his GENUIS. I prefer Prince.org for it's animation, layout, etc. On top of that both sites have moderators. But apparantely CRITICAL ANAYLSIS of Prince's LAST ALBUM or his recent BUSINESS PRACTICES I believe have proven too much for him. If one believes CREATIVE INSPIRATION comes from GOD and these are indeed products of THE JOYFUL MASTER, then why the submission to HUMAN LAW?  Valid Point. And what's so ironic about all of this Karma that one man brought on himself is that he can project harm/his will on others on line or offline intimidating others invading their privacy. Then, when he gets some of his own medicine back, he cries and whines like a baby by having his paid spin doctors/asskissers on line and otherwise to censure the public from exercising their right of freedom of speech on the Org of a places that he's suing along with Pirate Bay currently. I'm sorry but the heeled nuisances childish games need to end and he needs to face reality that what you put out into the universe is what you get back in the end, the evilness needs to cease. | |

May not have been here long enough for my opinions to "count 4 anything here" But I agree with ur statement. It's bringing out some ugly conflicts. Quite a bit directed at me cuz I think definitely than the majority. Something you've gotta go with your gut instead of crowd dyamic I was in "hiding" for the past few days, but after people asked me to stick around because I inspire them with my postive thinking, I can't hide. Not when people care that much about my thoughts and opinions. Well probably get kicked around for saying that the sentence in bold applies 2 me. But Prince's music and being a part of his fanbase has made me happier and I've discovered what I'm capable of accomplishing when given the right atmosphere and inspiration. Never knew how much I'd inspire other people. Found out that I'm disliked by a few people, but the positive makes up for the negative. Its a pretty good song.
That being said, people are sheep. Any freedoms you give up, you deserve to lose. Some things are just common sense. Prince likes to do nonsensical things and have his minions on here argue in his favor. I like some of Prince's music but I don't care about Prince the man. I don't know that fool and neither do MOST of the people posting here. People make analysis about his life and his personality from his songs all of the time. Fine. Good for you. I listen to a LOT of music and I don't have time to be trying to get into the heads of every artist I listen to. In the words of Snoop - "I don't love them hoes". With that knowledge, my position on him intimidating everyday people is the same as it would be to any other BULLY. I really don't care what any of you fanbots say, there is no need to pick on a woman posting a youtube vid. That's not protecting your copyright, its being an ass. PERIOD. Attacking fansites? That's even worse. Writing a funky tune doesn't make it okay (at least not with me) and it doesn't smooth things over. Underneath it all is still an angry little man who is swiftly becoming a relic in today's music scene and is whining (suing) like a little child and taking his frustrations out on the people he knows will take it - his fans. I don't care. I will listen, share, give away, make copies of whatever I want and that little dude and his purple kool-aid drinkers can't stop me. So, in the end - it matters not what he says or does. I don't owe him anything. Its just embarrassing and I actually hate to see him make a fool of himself like he has been lately. A little song isn't going to fix what's wrong with what he's done. He has control issues that really need to be worked out with a professional. When you die, you can't take your music with you. When you are an independent thinker instead of a fanboy, it comes easy. You're all up and down this thread expressing your opinion and when someone says something to the contrary, your response is that the level of fan you are entitles you to more of an opinion? Not a very bright response. I "bothered" because I can. If that makes me "pathetic within myself" (whatever that's supposed to mean)  then I'll take that label with pride. I came across this today from orgmaster, Ben, regarding the Uptown fiasco many years back. Still as relevant today...
Prince has one of the largest and strongest, if not the largest and strongest, long-lived online community and fanbase. He's asked us to help him numerous times since 1993: to be released from his contract; to support his non-WB experiment with Bellmark and TMBGITW; to spread the word about The New Master; to donate to his charity; to build several websites (L4OA, twice, and 1800NF) at no cost to him; to encourage record stores to stock his titles; to respect his wishes and call him 0(+> and not "Prince," and more. We have, in general, done all of these things dutifully, never asking for anything besides music in return. The music he claimed he wanted to give away; that he was dying to release but WB wouldn't let him. So we do all this for him, and what do we get? Not respect, not some leeway to use images on websites that give us pleasure (and give him something he desperately needs: relevancy), not even an influx of new music!
