Those lists are always quite or arbitrary of course.

Personally i would vote for Prince among Thich Nath Hanh (buddistic viatnamese monk),Ervin Lazlo (scientist), Van Morrison (singer / poet) and Bjork (visionary musician)

i should say that's quite an accolade and really well deserved - i knew i had good taste in music although many would disagree with me or just don't get it - and I just don't understand why more people aren't taken with Prince and his music like I am - he is just 100 % creative and always pushing the boundaries which I find highly exciting biggrin

Wonders what Rick Rubin does in that list?

I mean, he is a producer who likes 'his' records to sound oldfashioned, and analog, nothing genious about that....

Creators Synectics, a global consultants firm, chose their geniuses by awarding scores out of 10 to each entrant against a number of factors: paradigm shifting; popular acclaim; intellectual power; achievement and cultural importance. The firm emailed 4,000 Britons this summer and asked them to nominate up to 10 living people who they considered geniuses.

this is how they got their geniuses - i would agree with Brian Wilson and Aretha Franklin

Have you listened to "Pet Sounds"? The album that caused McCartney to suddenly get even more ambitious and push for the making of "Sgt. Peppers".

I think there would be no songs like "Crystal Ball"... no "Radiohead"... without these pioneering artists.

J K Rowling! She's not even a 'good' writer! Nonsense. There are a lot of strange names on there. Richard Dawkins? Nelson Mandela? And I admire the last two a lot, but genius?

Graham Linehan (Irish) Writer & dramatist -
Obviously not for his acting ability. He practically ruined an episode of Alan Partridge for me. Oh and Celbridge is not in Dublin Mr. Linehan.

hmph! No Marcel Duchamp?!? You can't include Hirst but not Duchamp...if it weren't for Duchamp, Hirst's "art" would just be animals in fermaldehyde. smile This list sucks, even if Prince really is a genius.lol

Laurie Anderson and Peter Gabriel. More for the former than the latter.
