Not to you. Regardless what you might believe, he did change the world in one day.

The list is for living geniuses. Duchamp (a genius no doubt) died in 1968.

not necessarily, but I will say that genius doesn't have to be good.

But he found a way to hurt the most powerful country in the world using rhetoric & 20 plane tickets

It makes him something. I am sure to his people it makes him GOD. Remember these aren't just arbitrary names thrown out at random. He got nominated by more than one person.

What do they mean with genius?
The list is a very mixed bag and so many great people are missing and many shouldn't be on there at all...
But I definitely think P has every right to be on such a list so congrats thumbs up!

The reason Osama Bin Laden made the list is because 9/11 was brilliant. Evil, yes, but brilliant. The date, 911 sign of emergency. The targets, twin towers sign of business and wealth. Pentegon sign of military strength and the white house, the top of the political food chain. The last plane headed for the white house didn't make it because passegers and crew fought back. Osama had a plan that changed everything forever, hitting the US in one day at all of our icons of power. Now he can't be found. Disappeared into thin air. Brilliant, evil, heartless.

Okay,
while I'm well aware that I'm no where near being considered a genius in any catagory,
I never would've imagined in my wildest dreams, that a list could be compiled with the names of Prince, Dolly Parton, Osama bin Laden, Stan Lee
& yet not include me.

how the hell is Tarentino on there? His movies are anything but genius, sure they SOME have good story and characters etc but they aint genius!

Brian Wilson deserves more than that i mean the guy is practically deaf and he still manages to create some of the most rememerable music ever! I mean you could go up to practically anybody on the street and ask them to name 10 Beach Boys songs and they easily could, but i think a lot of the general public would find it hard to do that for Prince. Eitherway they both deserve to be on there!

Aretha is a very great singer, but Brian Wilson was indeed a genious.

Aretha is the epitome of a living genius. She has created incredible art that includes three of the greatest albums in modern popular music (I Never Loved a Man, Soul, Live Gospel Album). She is a talented pianist. She has had enormous influence and worked in several genres (gospel, jazz, soul, rock). Her voice is pure brilliance with incredible range, tone and complexity. Her voice is one of the most complex instruments of the last 50 years. She has had enormous social influence. She is an icon due to her enormous and unmatchable talent. Artists are intimidated to work with her due to her level of talent. Unlike many of the artists on the list, her skill cannot be imitated.

To question her genius is blasphemy. What ignorance. Brian Wilson a genius and Aretha not...pleeze. He was a very talented musician with one influential album, early success at stealing the Chuck Berry sound and a career of unfocused meanderings. But I would admit he is a living genius.
