PrintableI remember reading P and RJ were bitter rivals, and at one RJ concert, P booked up the front two rows of the auditorium, filled the seats with his entourage and arranged for everyone to get up and leave after the second song of the night. Anyone else hear the same? | |

So if you read the book you would know that he was not obsessed with him. He was pissed about Prince stealing much of his show while on tour and how weird he was to him. I read the book, and he bitched about alot of his interactions with people. So if you read the book you would know that he was not obsessed with him. Old enough to not take Rick James bitching about Prince to this extent.And I remember those days quite clearly.But,living my life took presidense over the ranting of Rick James. I am in it for the music and not the childishness of Rick James's envy towards prince.He lived a tragic life and it was a waste for such a talented musician.That is what is over looked. I wonder what Rick's reaction was like when Prince exploded with His Movie and album.Became mega BIG...and even few years later went back on stage in bikini & leg warmers on Lovesexy tour (a bigger A badder concert than Rick could ever dream of putting on ) That was like in your face RICK!!! So what if Prince wore bikinis and leg warmers under that trench coat? Rick was wearing space suits, tight pants, knee-high boots and glitter around that time (nothing wrong with that, either) that's kind of funny he'd talk about someone else's clothes. If Garry Shider from Funkadelic can (and still does) wear a diaper onstage, why not? I started listening to Prince and Rick about the same time and became a fan of both. | |

You couldn't read a Jet, Right On or Black Beat magazine without hearing about some new feud between Prince and Rick James. But, for all intent and purposes, Rick did dog Prince every chance he got. Rick had long said that Prince was good. Despite what some of you may think, he only dissed Prince because when they were on tour together, Rick's mom went up to Prince for an autograph and he didn't respond to say the least. Rick was pissed which entitled started the feud. But Rick never really hard any other harsh feelings other than that. He respected the man and his music. Vice versa for P. That's why P paid a loving tribute to the prince of funk after his untimely passing. That is what I call never holding a grudge. Peace and be wild! | |
