It's the first Prince album since TGE which hasn't any filler; great production (an excellent funk/dance/club hybrid), great opening song (3121), neo-classics everywhere (Lolita, Black sweat, Fury, The Dance), smooth ballads (Te amo corazon, Satisfied) and even a HUGE underrated track, The word. It's a 4 star album, that's for sure. cool

I'm with you on that Joe! highfive

I love it too. In about 5 years or sooner (when Planet Earth comes out), people who hated this CD will be on this site talking about how great this CD is. It's like that with ALL of his CD's and I expect nothing different with this one.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I really dig "3121". Simple concept--it's about partying, but the music is really freaky. Freaky in a good way. I liked the song the instant I heard it and still do. I also like "The Dance". It's a very emotional song. It's done so well that I actually believe Prince is in agony over this woman.

Agreed...
considering how much he's relied on Tamar for back-up vocals and duets, I'm really glad he decided to play off of his own voice with that song. I don't think I've heard him do that before... and it has that vibe of sophistication that I really dig cuz it shows how far he's come.

I just realized this.

Someone said that it's not completely modernized and he does take things from his past and adds a little flair to them.

I was listening to The Word... and got swallowed up in it when I realized that it has the same message as "Let's Go Crazy"... its just more chill and relaxed and sophisticated. But totally cool.

Everyone knows the comparsions between Kiss & Black Sweat (which I think is a huge improvement on it).

It is kinda cool how he incorporates the past into the present... makes me wonder what he'll do for the next album. It just might make the same statement as SOTT did when it came out (I'm going by hearsay here, though... I dont own SOTT... but who knows what Prince will do next?)

He's a man of many surprises.
