Prince plays @ ARK charity London, UK

Prince did a private show for hundreds at Marlborough House on Friday night 11th, May 2007 - this was the day after KOKO's big night.

"U can check out the press release under the "news" section at the ARK (Absolute Return for Kids) web-site".

A very supportive voice has said, Ms. Love (of moneypenny pa) got in contact with the superstar (who also happends to be a Jehovah's Witness) and simply asked if he would do the gig for the charity.

After they (moneypenny pa) contacted the likes of AEG, they started having the dressing rooms prepared, and lots of organic foods brought in for his royal purpleness.

Guest included, Liz Hurley, President Bill Clinton, Sir Elton John, and Madonna. Madonna's dancers did a bit before the main course - PRINCE.

http://www.arkonline.org / http://www.myspace.com/moneypennypa

With the entire NPG (Prince & Revelation's) aboard with Maceo Parker, the night was beyond the imagination!

The event raised over $53,000,000.00 for the ARK charity.

Mr. Arpad Busson chairman of ARK brought on the girls - Kiran Sharma & Ursula Love Founders of Moneypenny PA (an artist personal assistant company), to get in contact with the superstar . This is a good pull off for a new company in the industry. How many people would like to have Prince on their roster of clients.

The charity event sounded great!
But- isn't that "Prince & The Revelations" thing the name coined by the perfume company? confuse

"Love Hurts.
Your lies, they cut me.
Now your words don't mean a thing.
I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..."

ARK ANNOUNCES STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH THE CLINTON FOUNDATION

LONDON (15 May 2007)
ARK (Absolute Return for Kids), the international children’s charity, has announced that it is launching the Clinton-ARK Initiative for Mozambique,
through a strategic partnership with the Clinton Foundation HIV/AIDS Initiative
(CHAI). The partnership will support the delivery of rapid and high quality care and treatment for HIV/AIDS in Mozambique.

The Clinton-ARK Initiative for Mozambique will provide training and mentoring for health care workers, reaching over 300 clinicians in its first year. The five year partnership will be funded by ARK to a total of USD $8 million. Programmes will be jointly designed and managed by ARK (led by ARK HIV/AIDS Director, Dr Ashraf Grimwood) and CHAI,working with the government of Mozambique.

The strategic partnership was announced at ARK’s 6th Annual Gala Dinner in London in a speech by former President Bill Clinton. Attended by 1,200 guests, predominantly from the financial services industry, the event raised an astonishing £26.6 million ($53 million) for the charity, exceeding the £18.5 million raised in 2006. Thanks to sponsorship by Bloomberg, Merrill Lynch, UBS, BlueCrest and two anonymous donors, all the money raised goes directly to support ARK’s programmes.

The Dinner also raised funds to support expansion of ARK’s other programmes such
as City Academies and the Future Leaders programme for future head teachers in the UK, enabling children to leave institutional care in Eastern Europe, and other HIV/AIDS projects in South Africa.

The Gala Dinner was held at the historic Marlborough House on Pall Mall, home of the Commonwealth Secretariat. The auction conducted by Lord Dalmeny, Deputy
Chairman of Sotheby’s UK, included, amongst other items, dinner with ex-Soviet Union President Mikhail Gorbachev, a day on the set of the new Bond film with Daniel Craig, following the action in the America’s Cup with Team Alinghi, and a photograph by Andreas Gursky. The legendary musician, Prince, entertained guests with an amazing performance. The pledge appeal was delivered by Madonna. The style and organisation of the Gala were finessed by the work of event producers, Starlight, Rhubarb Food Design and Rob van Helden Floral Design.

Arpad Busson, ARK’s Chairman, said:
“The Clinton-ARK Initiative for Mozambique is a remarkable landmark in ARK’s development. In the past three years, ARK’s work in South Africa has prevented nearly 30,000 children from being orphaned, and we are now poised to replicate our model in Mozambique. We are honoured to be working with the Clinton Foundation to save the lives of those infected with HIV/AIDS in Africa, helping the Mozambican government increase their medical training programmes to address the significant shortage of qualified personnel, training more than 300 this year alone. We are also rolling out ARV treatment and adherence programmes to both caregivers and children.”

Mr Busson further commented:
“ARK’s Gala Dinner was a fantastic success in achieving what matters to us most – transforming children’s lives. After putting all the money raised at last year’s ARK Dinner to work, we now have ambitious plans to expand ARK’s work in education, both in the UK and internationally, in providing care for institutionalised children in Bulgaria and elsewhere in Eastern Europe, and HIV/AIDS in Southern Africa.”

President Clinton, said:
The ARK model’s tremendous success in treating HIV/AIDS in South Africa makes it a natural partner for the Clinton Foundation in Mozambique. Working with ARK, we can provide life saving medicine to children with AIDS, while also training people to diagnose, treat and care for them and follow-up with their treatment.”

This partnership tackles the massive needs in Mozambique, where 78% of the
population live on less than $2 per day and 1.8 million adults and children are infected with HIV/AIDS – the fourth largest number worldwide. The lack of skilled resources is apparent through the existence of only a little over 500 Mozambican doctors, serving a population of nearly 20 million. This Initiative will train and mentor existing health care workers, as well as increase the numbers able to enter the profession through medical schools, with a particular emphasis on HIV/AIDS.

About ARK:
ARK (Absolute Return for Kids)
ARK is a London-based international charity, whose purpose is to transform children’s lives. ARK was founded in 2002 by a group of senior figures in the financial services industry, pooling their skills and resources to create an innovative, collective approach to philanthropy. The founding trustees were Arpad Busson, Paul Dunning, Kevin Gundle, Paul Marshall, Blaine Tomlinson and Ian Wace (current trustees listed below).

ARK’s success is built on a rigorous approach to philanthropy and it has ambitious and aggressive plans to expand its programmes. The organisation has raised over £57m ($114m) in its five year life. The donors to ARK are mainly from within the finance industry, particularly hedge funds. ARK ensures that the impact of every donation is maximised by consistently applying the
same principles and disciplines to managing the charity as it would to running a
business. ARK focuses on the transformation of children’s lives through efficient, accountable management of programmes. ARK delivers measurable social returns.

The Board of Trustees and the Patrons ensure the central administrative costs of ARK are met: 100% of donations are then used exclusively to help deliver its programmes. ARK also leverages additional funding and resources from governments, always ensuring long term programme sustainability.
ARK maximises its impact by funding and managing innovative programmes across
three themes:
• Combating HIV/AIDS –
o Working with the South African government, ARK aims to prevent children
from being prematurely orphaned by HIV/AIDS by keeping their primary
caregivers alive. ARK provides antiretroviral treatment for caregivers and
children – reaching over 14,000 patients in four provinces in South Africa in
three years.
o Since 2003, ARK has prevented 29,700 children from becoming prematurely
orphaned.
o ARK’s target is to treat 32,400 HIV+ carers and children by 2010 – preventing
65,000 children from becoming orphans.
o The HIV/AIDS programme is now expanding to Mozambique – delivering
treatment in clinics, as well as training via the Clinton-ARK Initiative.
• Supporting deinstitutionalisation –
o ARK has so far enabled 1,700 children to leave abusive state orphanages or
prevent their entry, closing institutions.
o ARK is making ground-breaking progress towards the first ever closure
programme of damaging institutions in Bulgaria and to establish alternative
state services for childcare (ie foster care and small family-type homes)
o 12 closures in five countries are now in progress, working with partner HHC.

• Delivering quality education –
o ARK is rapidly becoming a leader in delivering a powerful educational vision
that is determined to enable very young person to succeed at school.
o ARK’s first City Academy opened last September
o Plans are in progress for a total of 12 Academies by 2012.

Clinton Foundation HIV/AIDS Initiative
President Clinton established the William J Clinton Foundation with the mission to strengthen the capacity of people throughout the world to meet the challenges of global interdependence. A centrepiece of the Foundation’s work since 2002, the Clinton Foundation HIV/AIDS Initiative (CHAI) bring quality treatment to hundreds of thousands of people and enables underserved populations to access critical treatment to battle this worldwide pandemic.
CHAI launched its Paediatric Initiative in 2005 with the ambitious goal of doubling the number of children receiving AIDS care and treatment in developing countries. Since its inception, the Initiative has reduced the cost of paediatric HIV/AIDS medicines by over 50% and helped over 25,000 children. With a new partnership with UNITAID aimed at donating medicines to treat 100,000 children in over 40 countries, CHAI is continuing to give children with HIV/AIDS a chance at life.
The Clinton Foundation is also making an impact in other areas through the ongoing work of the Clinton Global Initiative, efforts in the fight against climate change, and much more.

Something wrong with this report since the Gala dinner that raised all that money actually took place on Friday 5th May (according to ARK's own press-release on the site) which was sometime before Prince arrived in the UK.

No, is that supposed to be Prince in yellow? He and Madge are about the same height, so it could be. I just can't imagine them being so close, cheek to cheek that is, lol!

Madonna and that guy behind her are pretty aware of the camera, even though the photographer is hiding in the bush. Great English journalism! lol

What I hear is that Madonna hasn't had any surgery, but does get some injections every now and then.

Prince' ear seems really thin, doesn't it? Oh, nevermind... lol
