Prince's LA concerts will earn him $3 million

http://www.eurweb.com/sto...r33798.cfm

Folks in the U.S. who can’t make it to Prince’s London shows can start saving their pennies for the singer’s planned seven-week run here on American soil.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the artist will tune up for his 21-show London run with a seven-week stand at the historic Hollywood Roosevelt hotel in Los Angeles. Beginning June 15, Prince is due to perform a two-hour set beginning each night at 11:30 p.m. for seven consecutive Fridays.

Also, the hotel’s Dakota restaurant is to be transformed into an after-hours dinner club at 2 a.m., at which time Prince's private chef will take over the kitchen, and Prince will front a jazz ensemble that will jam until 4 a.m., the Times reports.

A source told the New York Post’s Page Six: "He's getting paid $3 million for the gigs - $1.5 million is coming from a clothing company, Verizon is chalking up $750,000, and the rest is covered by the hotel. Prince will also get comped rooms, food and beverages."

The Times reports that Prince will be staying at the Hollywood Roosevelt throughout the summer while he and his band rehearse for the London shows, which begin in July.

Are the (ex-)wives costing him that much?

Prince is getting smarter and smarter with his gigs.

He seems to be semi retired after he got that $85 million score. But now he is picking and chosing.

making money and enjoying life cool

So those who go can expect to see Verizon and whoever ads at the venue? Or will he actually appear in ads? confuse

By the time he's done paying taxes, you can cut it back by at least a third= 2 million. Then if he goes out and buys a boat or airplane, there's sales taxes etc etc....
yeah! Lena Morgan will be in the kitchen and cooking!!!! But why can't she have normal hours?? I don't eat that time of day.

So what if he is rich...just because someone is rich is not the reason you or I are poor! Go out and get that money. Don't buy into the media created class envy. Rich people have problems too.

I saw this NY Post mention yesterday....my thoughts are- good for him biggrin, that's pretty good for seven shows. It's obviously a lot more profitable to do these long standing gigs, as opposed to a full on tour. There's no stage to pay for, no major road crew, etc.
I just hope he spreads it out and sets up in the NY area sometime soon. I already spent too much money to go to Vegas, I can't make another trip. sad

And at least he EARNS his money, unlike the many celebutantes that are paid millions simply because they were born to the right parents that spoiled them rotten and didn't give them any good values, i.e. Paris Hilton, Nicole Ritchie etc.

Funny how The Artist Formerly Known as an Industry-Hater is now managing his own career just as, if not more, comercially than a record label would. Re-hashing old hits for money, relying on said hits for fame charging extortionate fees for concerts.

How the tables have turned.

Not really though - the difference is making those decisions yourself
or having someone else make them for you.

I wonder if the Verizon connection has anything to do with the release of his new music. I bet their is a joint arrangement to release a disc at his summer concerts with a joint release on Verizon's music ventures. [b]-BOLD PREDICTION!
