highfive I was 14 and 9th grade. I remember the Right On magazine with the Patrice Rushen article about her "friend" Prince. I liked the album but the next one - when I saw the thigh highs and all that went with it, I was a bit disbelief But I was 14 so what did I know? Ah but then Controversy came out and I've never looked back. smile

Seven years old, in the UK, 1978. There was only one thing I was thinking of/excited by with at that time. this little space film called Star Wars! biggrin

I was 9 years old..good grief...but I remember listening to Prince, not really "knowing" who he was until a little later, then I was like oh holy cow..this is fantastic!! nod music

I had just turned 10 and hadn't heard of the man yet. Not until the next album.

But like others Rocky/Star wars
Funkedelic/ disco dancing / gap band / K tel records / cub scouts / tough skins

and not a freakin care in the world biggrin

I LOVED the roller rink!! the disco ball, the cute guys skating by, me in my cool new skates and friggin leg warmers my friends insisted looked good,couples only skating.....ahhhh yes..to go back in time.

At 7, I was watching Countdown in Australia and I'm pretty sure they had no idea who Prince was (although I saw Controversy there a few years later).
