Probably the first time I heard "I only want to see you laughing in the purple rain". It sounded so beautiful and I was expecting the more "entertainer" side of Prince like in Kiss but here was just a young man, vocals stripped back, singing his heart out. love

The only "OMG" Prince songs for me to this day are, "Sexy MF" and "Pussy Control"...especially "Pussy Control". The first time I heard this song I was like... eek "WHAT DID HE JUST SAY"?!?!?!, because on the album it's titled "P Control" and I was like, "What does that mean?" and then I played the song and was like, "WHOA!!! OKAY! No, he did not just say that...and now he's screaming it. Oh My God!!!" omg I couldn't even listen to "Sexy MF", because I was only like 11 years old and my dad had bought the album for me. If he had known that song was on there, Prince would have been forever banned in my house, so I just listened to it with headphones or skipped that song. "Bob George" also gave me an OMG thought, but it's super funny. lol

When You Were Mine... something about the guitar breakdown had me hooked.... but technically I was a fan after I Wanna Be Your Lover... but I thought I was listening to a woman at the time. eek I was a little kid so I've forgiven myself. lol

one night the radio played
the long version of "Insatiable"
he said "do you want my hips in the air"
or something to that effect... I said eek

this was waaaaay before (of course)
I discovered pre-Purple Rain
"be who you are and say what you feel
because those who mind don't matter
and those who matter don't mind."

Little Red Corvette was THE pivotal song for me at the age of twelve.

It was like the drum beat of that song matched my heart or something. It was crazy.

course I didn't know what the song meant. But that can't stop you from enjowing it.

1984 at Kenmore Theatres in Brooklyn when I first watched the Darling Nikki scene. The song and the routine (when he was simulating the sex moves and all) was alot for a 14 year old back then to handle. biggrin Never seen or heard anything like that before and let's just say I was reeled in big time.

When Doves Cry is when it sealed it for me....I knew then and there as me and my boys were piled into a car after class one late spring afternoon in 1984

We all just stopped and listened to this song...we knew instantly that this little MF was no joke. 1999 was the record we wore out...but then to follow that record up with Doves and Purple Rain...was just some sick $hit

I heard Soft & Wet on the radio driving to Laurens, South Carolina. I was with my 17 yo boyfriend. I thought the singer was female. I loved the song though. We bought tickets to see Rick James on his Fire It Up tour.

When Prince opened, and I saw him onstage....that was my OMG moment. Black bikini. Leg warmers. Rick who?

I have been to many concerts by many different artists....No one has come close to making me feel that way.

I still get chills and a feeling in the pit of my stomach no one else can make me have.....watching Purple Rain when he sings..."Do you want him? Or do you want me? I want you!!!"

Well I mean, he gives you fair warning...but did I care? Nope.

Now boys and girls for the graphic part,
close your ears if you ain't got a nasty heart...
Schoolyard, schoolyard
(Here we go)
Now take a glove, fill it with hot baby lotion
And slip it on,
(Well...)
Pull it tight,
That's what Carrie was like
One stroke and I was gone
Gone I was, it's true

:shocked:What the hell!And these r supposed 2 b kids? eek

"oh wow, this guy sounds amazing"? 5 women - from the very first note I knew this would become the song of my heart.
"What the hell is this guy on"? - Loose and many more songs. Somehow Prince´ music always has to grow on me. I hardly ever like it on the-first-time-listen.

1st time I saw Prince .. was the 1999 video, which didn't grab me @ all. I noticed in the video the dude had on eye liner and boots (and I said 'nice face', but nothing impressed me about him). Laterz that day .. I'm listening to the radio and this real funky tune was on. Song was jamming ..I couldnt wait til the end for the DJ to annouce who the hell was playing this jam. "Lady Cab Driver"[the extended version] all over the radio (and I'm waiting to hear who! who is this?!!) .. even the DJ was jamming cause he came out afterwards yelling "this is my man .. Prince!, with Lady Cab Driver" .. and I said "that was the dude with the eye liner n boots eek " was instant convertion, I've been a fan ever since.
