Not sure how well this will work, but since I was born in Tallahassee, just a few miles from the FAMU campus, I am very proud of what has to be one of the best Marching Bands in all of the United States. The Marching 100 also continue one of the best traditions among College Bands. Actually being funky. Get this, a marching band having funk. No Wonder Prince invited them.

Who the hell would want to hear the retro-sounding Get on the Boat??

My grandpa maybe. And he's dead.

Things are going from bad to worse ... I seriously hope you guys' predictions of GOTB are not true. sad

Prince doesn't need support acts,he's a 1 man band all by himself.I just hope this band doesn't steal 2 much of his camera time. sad

keep in mind this will most likely be the largest single audience (viewership) he has ever had so i'm pretty sure he's going to stick w/ his hits. he's not playing for only die-hard fans this time, he's pretty much playing for the world considering the SB is the most highly viewed sporting event on the planet.

some people wanna trip about the smallest things... to actually put energy into the fact that he will be "sharing the spotlight" w/ someone else is so damn pointless.

kiss, yes. i would be willing to put a dollar down on that one. i predict kiss, little red corvette, lets go crazy, and of course (goes w/out saying) purple rain. in fact, i bet there are going to be purple balloons and/or confetti released at some point during the performance.

If he wants to play hits (which is what he will have to do anyway) then he is pretty much left with "Little Red Corvette", "U Got The Look" and material from Diamonds & Pearls, if you'd want to play material that hasn't been played to death on televised performances. Playing "1999" would be just silly of course.

I'm just afraid the open stadium is going to sound horrible.

Interesting! Prince and a marching band. Could be cool
I think Sign of the times will be a fitting song. Live he always plays that with a marching band sound, so I think musically it will definitly do. Lyrically it's a 'timeless' song and many people know it.... yeah I think that's the song he need! biggrin

i hope this doesn't lead to prince putting a marching band in all his concerts this year as some gloaty allusion to his greatness, like he did with the RNRHOF induction at the beginning of all the musicology shows (and some of the 3121 shows!).

anyway...aren't marching bands in pop songs SOOOO like, 2003?
