If the person I stand for is not pleased with what I am doing for them .then it seems only appropriate that I adjust may stance to align my efforts.(and yes I would do anything the NPG asked ..loyalty no questions asked)
why not call the site MEFAMS.COM since it all seems to be about individual unsatisfaction with Prince
I believe in digital democracy and I feel that the NPG has dealt with legal issues accordingly they have an amazing legal team you only get so many chances to do whats right .I mean its Prince's music that brings us together.why should he or the NPG have to tollerate anything that isnt promoting his vision and more inportantly his sound.he makes records remember? he owes us nothing ,he's given enough. we choose to follow him ,just like choosing not to. why not realize that? and if any fans are nolonger I wish them well and I will gladly take their place on the dance floor at the next show whenever.

If copyrights are holy, how come Prince happily allowed Truth Magazine inside the inner circle, despite the fact that magazine almost had a lawsuit on their hands over the use of unauthorized pics?
How come Prince has repeatedly failed to credit writers and musicians for their input in his music (ask Sandra St Victor for one)?
How come Prince forces concert photographers to sign releases that state that he owns the copyright on all pics?

the author of the photograph is the owner of the copyright. however, if the picture was taken before 1989 and was commissioned, then the person commissioning the photo owns it. if it was commissioned after 1989, then the author owns it. Also, there can be joint owners. For example, the person pressing the camera button did not decide things like the camera angle, exposure etc. Where a photograph is made by two or more people so that their contributions to the photograph are not distinct, those people will be joint owners. However, photographs made in the course of your employment do not apply, the copyright belongs to the employer, not the author.

On the flip side, we also have a law called the "right of publicity", wherein a celebrity is entitled to financial gain from use of his or her image or likeness, and any photographer taking a photo of a celebrity must get a release from the celebrity.

So, you have contradictory issues at hand. Unfortunately, there has been no case that fits this exact criteria before the courts. Believe it or not, Prince fan sites are not the only ones that receive the cease and desist letters. Many, many other fan sites receive them. However, no-one has yet been taken to court over it becuase (1) the fansite usually complies or (2) the copyright owner does not want to proceed through the legal system. Until that day comes, there is still a fine line about what is legally allowable.

This may be way off base...
Now that Prince is gaining respectability in the rest of the country, ie. performing at half time in the Super Bowl, he needs to control his image as much as possible to maintain a squeeky clean appearance. He has changed quite a bit from his younger, wilder days and grown more conservative. This upcoming performance could open doors for him he wouldn't have access to. Next thing you know, he'll be performing at the White House.

Prince is a loser. It has taken some of you longer to realise this than others.

Boycott his next album ? haha I already have years ago.

I didn't buy 3121 because its a load of crap. I downloaded it at not cost to myself and deleted it not long after because it blows. I only got Musicology because it was included in the ticket price, otherwise there is no way I would have bought it.

TRC was the last decent album and he even managed to ruin that with the JW talk.

Sure I will still see all the latest TV appearances, and get the latest boots but when it comes to giving a cent to Prince - no thanks.

I adore Prince but not the people who surround him... or his ego. They´re always trying to make him look like god and he´s only human, right? Yeah, he probably thinks he´s Budah but he´s not.
