Whereas it's great that Prince has been nominated, it really is an average song by anybody's standards; Prince B-side material at best.

As great as Prince is, not every single song in his catalogue is a classic by any means and there's no harm in someone who overall loves Prince's work to come here and criticise any particular element of it. It's certainly far healthier than being a Stepford fan and claiming everything he releases is genius.

well... just listened to it all the way through for the first time and I actually quite like it. i don't love it, but it's seems to suit the film.

it would have improved 10 fold however with a tony rap on it.

Tony rap, my bum!
The influence of hip hop on prince is the worst. Let hip hop die a natural death!!

it is a crap song...

said it a million times, it works in the context of the Movie, the Producers gave it the green light NOT Prince!.

I took my daughter and her friend to see Happy Feet and they both got up and danced to it in the movie theater. In my eyes, Prince made a song that served it's purpose and I'm glad that he was nominated for an award. This song wasn't for us grown folks it was for the kids and the kids like it!

sure it is uplifting... as i am sure many other bubble gum songs are... that doesnt make it a good prince song... (and remember to say it is crap really means it is crap compared to the rest of his songs...)

I never said that different opinions should be banned, so don't put words in my mouth. I simply stated that I didn't understand bashing a Prince song on a Prince fan site. There is nothing wrong with you not liking the song and stating that. However, to call it "crap" in relation to anything is a bit much.

Furthermore, why can't the song stand on its own merit? Why does it have to be compared to the rest of his songs? Yesterday was yesterday, today is today, tomorrow will be tomorrow - and neither is the other.

I totally agree with you. I don't expect Prince fam to love every song he puts out because I have whole albums on my shelf collecting dust. I don't understand why there is so much criticism and negativity about him on a site dedicated to him. Your comment is a breath of fresh air. Thanks!

It's not gold. I liked it, though I don't think it deserves to win anything. If it fits in with the movie so damn well, then why do they stick it with the ends credits? Take a deep breath and think quietly. It's a case of name dropping, obviously!
