I never said that different opinions should be banned, so don't put words in my mouth. I simply stated that I didn't understand bashing a Prince song on a Prince fan site. There is nothing wrong with you not liking the song and stating that. However, to call it "crap" in relation to anything is a bit much.

Furthermore, why can't the song stand on its own merit? Why does it have to be compared to the rest of his songs? Yesterday was yesterday, today is today, tomorrow will be tomorrow - and neither is the other.

Right on, bella! School those fools! highfive

oops! there it is..... thumbs up!

it is a crap song...

In your opinion...thanks we got that.

of course it's his opinion, I don't think SlamGlam attempted to present it as anyone elses opinion but his own, so what's your point? your emphasis is irrelevent and doesn't make it less credible. don't be so defensive. Prince doesn't need your defense, I am sure he feels just fine about the song whether SlamGlam likes it or not without a need to defend it to him and so should you.

because being a fan and visiting a fan site in no way obligates you to have to like everything they do or temper your opinions. why can't a Prince song be criticized harshly just because this is a Prince site where it is obvious we are all Prince fans and have something rather personal in common. this is, in fact, the very perfect place to call a Prince song crap because at least it is coming from a little more unbiased crowd than just the general public which has abolutely no emotional investment in Prince or his music. lighten up and don't take Prince so personal.

I totally disagree. It is fun and not cheesy like an Elton John or Celion Dion song for a kid's movie. It is refreshing to hear Prince sing in his lower voice instead of a ballad.

It seems, like he'll have a very nice year, let's hope he delivers a new album also. 3121 was better than musicology, so we can hope the next is even better - it's amazing to see almost 50year-old musician, who can write and produce entire album and get noticed (Grammy) and commercial success also. If he want's to have no 1 single - then he should collaborate, but I don't care. I need only good music!

Neither of the last 2 albums (which I didn't dislike) got anywhere near the rainbow children. For me those last 2 albums have been attempts to compromise without completely loosing his own individuality. He's done this before, and I've been hoping it's a means to an end and not an end in itself. Almost 50 and the millions he's earned! The awards he's recieved from god knows how many morons! I hope P. doesn't become a cool kind of mick jagger. He should get back to doing something new and mind blowing because that's what he's good at. thank y'kindly!

It seems as though those that are opposed to Song of the Heart don't realize this song was not intended to be on Prince's next album. This song was intended for an animated film. There are many other singers such as Elton and Celine who have done songs for films and are also completely unlike their pop material. Because that's the way it was intended. I mean for real, when you listened to Song of the Heart for the very first time, couldn't you tell this song was meant for a cartoon and not meant for his next album?

That's why Prince remains a versatile artist, able to record music for whatever purpose.

Indeed. Prince couldn't write a song where he sings in a sexy, low voice and rips a guitar solo. The song's positive and cutesy like the movie it was recorded for.

Oh please, you know damn well that never happens around here. People try to push their views on other people all the time.

If SlamGlam has the right to put the song down, Bellanoche has the right to defend the song. You naysayers don't get to have it your way all the time.

I don't see it that way. I think there's a section of people here [not SlamGlam necessarily] who ARE biased against Prince and who make it their mission to make life hell for the rest of us who aren't.

Great to see him nominated, but I can think of portions of his work more deserving of accolades than SOTH. It's cute, but not his best work IMO.

That said, I did like it and LOVED the movie it was intended for. Penguins rock.

I've been listening to it regularly now. It's a cute and catchy tune especially when watched with the music video: http://www.youtube.com/wa...w2AvYiSuoQ I wish it was available at iTunes as a single purchase instead of buying the whole album. Is there another online music website where I can buy the song for download as a single?

Hell, it was a slow year for movies period.

I disagree. There was some damn good stuff released this year.

V For Vendetta
United 93
Borat
The Departed
The Prestige
Casino Royale

etc.

it's a sad world when BORAT is considered a good movie.

I respect Prince's talent BIG TIME, and know 99% of his songs are better that most of any past OSCAR songs... But I just saw Dreamgirls, my wife's fav play & music, in an advanced screening in NYC....and WOW, sorry my brother...but both the movie and the new song Listen, gave me chills I haven't had since Purple Rain...Yikes. So Listen will win...but it's great that my main man in music is getting nominated again!

Go see Dreamgirls! and see Eddie Murphy channel JB & PRN!

good lord- so much negativity for a good thing.... sheez.

the song's good, has a good beat and message, and fits the film. what more do you want?

the fact that prince is doing a song for an animated film only proves how versatile he is and how wide his range of music is. besides- its a great way to get younger kids into Prince. i mean, with the "music" out there today, somebody has to teach them who real ARTISTS are.

if prince wins, he wins. if not, hey he at least goes to the golden globes and gets some media attention or w/e. I don't see why there's so much negativity for the song being nominated. the nomination will be good for the film.

Of the given list, to my knowledge, B O R A T is the best movie, perhaps the only good one. What on earth is wrong with you?
ali g is just making fun of some hideous people, who are trying to preserve their very limited, subjective (for want of a better word) "view"
Roses are red but what do they taste like?
That good hiphop band, Outkast, do they really sing, "roses really smell like pooo-uh-hooo..."?

Casino Royal and Vendetta are obviously on the opposite end of "damn good stuff"
purple knight, I'm disappointed in you too!
