I just got on and heard what was going on. I watched the clip with out problems and know I'm so excited I hope he doesn't use a guitar cause he could move more and thats what I like but if he does use a guitar he probably will use a cloud! it would only make his performance even better. Feburary just isn't comming quick enough!!!!! cool

No, not really. They'll know he's going to perform well before they get there with all the advertisements that will be around. I don't think Prince cares about the rumors. Apparently he's been dealing with those kind of rumors for so many years, that it's obvious "rumors and gossip" is not a priority on his "Agenda of the Day".

What the superbowl fans will get is a dose of the Prince of today. and will be partying it up at the superbowl!! dancing jig
[Edited 12/11/06 9:46am]

Yes indeed. He will garner many new fans and much respect from the audience.
It's about the music and the entertainment ...and Prince knows how to play the music and he knows how to entertain.

Exactly... biggrin wink

Do you guys think Prince gets tired of people always expecting the "old" songs from him? It's like people get stuck on a certain way they think someone should be, they fail to realize that person has grown, changed, evolved, and dislike it immensely when that person tries to break out of the mold others have put them in. I hope that when Prince performs, he performs something that he is feeling at the time, because we all know when Prince "feels" what he's playing, it's the greatest experience for those watching.

(Sorry, had a dream about something similar to this and in it Prince was just melancholy is the word that came during the dream because all people wanted from him were the old hits, didn't care about who he is today and for some reason this thread was on my mind when I woke up. There was more to the dream, but that was the main point of it. It was like he just wasn't there emotionally or mentally when people were talking about him doing the old songs, and just looked really sad. Weird I know and I don't know where the dream came from or why, but there it is.)

As you can all tell, Prince is being pushed and pulled into so many directions for this show. You know he will do only what he wants to do and I don’t expect anything different from that. And the thing about it not being right that Prince is performing the halftime show at such a masculine sporting event I think bullarky. How can someone say they would rather have ACDC perform, which would give you the excitement you would get at an Elementary Christmas Program, then to have Prince perform with his AWESOME stage presence, stamina, charisma, and excellent style so you could walk away talking about his performance for weeks. I don’t understand. I can’t wait to see you there. God Bless you Prince!!

Know what you mean, but I think because it's the superbowl and it will be shown to a very large tv audience, that there's a lot that do not follow his career such as his dedicated fans do, so the people that don't, only know him through his classic material and just "expect" that he will be singing some of his famous classic songs, but I like the way he incorporates some of his new songs into his performances, like at 3121, along with the classics, sort of balances it out, and I'm sure he'll sing some of his new tracks off the "3121" cd at the superbowl and gain even more fans.

See thats exactly how I fell. I love his blending too. I'm sure he will do some 3121, but thats ok to me because I like the CD and any of his old stuff would be great but he will probably play what he thinks most people would know.

Let's get real 4 a minute.

There are no EXPECTATIONS as far as what Prince plays for this event. Prince will put on a PIMP ass performance as he ALWAYS does. That's all that counts.

The people watching this event is there 4 the FOOTBALL game, and in some cases the TV commercials, NOT the halftime entertainment. As long as Prince puts on a GREAT show, and I KNOW that he will, it's all good.

I was specifically referring to the "half-time" show and I know he will put on a great show, and yes people will have expectations, that can't be avoided, doesn't mean Prince won't play what he feels at heart..he is the one calling the shots on his music isn't he?

You could argue, the opposite is true, Prince gets tired of people always expecting that he himself is bored of his old hits, when in fact he loves playing them. He definately enjoys playing Kiss, Let's Go Crazy and Purple Rain, because no one is forcing him to play those songs regularly at his own 3121 club and he even recently said he loved playing Purple Rain at one of those shows. As for 'feeling it' I've seen plenty of occasions when he's 'feeling it' with an old song as much as when he's doing something newer.

At the end of the day, Prince knows full well the organisers and the greater part of the audience want him to play the recogniseable hits to keep a party atmosphere going, and if he wasn't happy to do that was nothing forcing him to accept this gig; therefore I conclude he is happy to put on that type of show. He can keep his rarer tracks for his own audience during his own concert tours.

...and oh yeah... That commercial couldn't have been done better. Prince looks great, and the facial expressions were priceless... The real BOMB is, of course, the last shot of the eyes, the gate opening, and the strut up the corridor, slinging the guitar... and one more thing... when he straightens out his collar. That last part of the commercial is almost like a warning. I love it. U know the Brother is going 2 tear it up, BIG TIME.
