so does anyone have the scoop on getting "table reservations"? i am sure it cost more, but kat's feet weren't what they were 10 years ago, and doesn't prefer to stand for hours waiting for the show to start since we have no clue when it actually starts.

jusst call the club and make a reservation. they will require you to buy a bottle of booze, which will probably cost around $300.

That's great, at least UK fans will have a chance to see him if this turns out to be true, especially since he didn't do the Musicology tour there.

I can't tell if you realise that was a joke or not.

lol Oops, can't believe I fell for it, thanks.

True and that's $312.00 per person, it's a lot, but then again with a bottle included with the table, a meal at his restaurant, and a guaranteed seat, that's not bad at all.

Prince has just become Barry Manilow; this is not the raw fuck/rock legend of the 80s; this is a tired, generic R&B artist looking for some money in a newly commercial career. For all his bad-mouthing of the record industry, Prince himself is turning NPG Records Inc. into an incredibly commercial venture not too unlike what these "big, evil labels that steal your masters" do to their artists.

Prince hasn't been the raw fuck/rock legend of the 80s since, well, the 80s. Thankfully he changed with the times instead of getting stuck in that era like so many 80s acts, constantly developing his sound and tastes for new generations, not a bad thing in my eyes. You say he's doing this Vegas thing simply for the money? Don't you think there are far more reliable ways of making money for him? He could do another tour, USA or rest of the world. After making the biggest profit in '04, pundits were predicting his '06 tour would be up there with the biggest-hitters - but he decided not to do the obvious money-making thing. If he was touring now you'd still be saying 'oh he's only doing it to rake in the money', what's a guy to do and where to go to play his music?

And the difference between these 'big evil labels' and NPG Records Inc is that Prince is still the only artist on the roster, therefore the only artist they can treat badly is Prince himself! God forbid NPG make money, eh? Nasty commercialism...

Don't get me wrong; I'm all for NPG Records making money - I'd love to see Prince's next album actually have some form of marketing over here!

And I understand that Prince has changed, and I too think it's a good thing; I was using it as an example; my personal opinion is that Prince was at his coolest in 94-95, but that's just my opinion. And I do think Prince is doing it for the money, yes. lol I really do - I think he's getting a bit tired of touring, hell - when was the last time he bothered to come to England?

Maybe you should reserve judgment until you have some remote idea of what your talking about besides some vague press release and slick website full of, I might add superb artists. Btw, the 80s were over nearly 20 years ago.

I know exactly what I'm talking about. Prince gets a 90% cut of the profits under his label so he's using that power to rake in the cash - totally understandable and normal, and yes - the gigs will sellout because he is Prince, but just because I highlight a flaw in this website's Messiah doesn't mean I'm a stereotyping idiot who doesn't know what he talking about; you in fact are being that yourself by making that assumption, and again - "superb" artists is a matter of opinion, not fact.

As for the 80s, that affects nothing - we still have rockstars today who are far less commercial; the business of the music industry has changed; image hasn't. If Prince wanted to cultivate that rockstar image he could, but he chooses not to.

i don't really understand your point here. Prince's main beef was ownership and freedom to do what he wants with his music right? Now he has freedom with NPG Records and he can do whatever he wants with it. maybe Prince does not want to be the rock star of the 80's like you want him to. he's been there, done that, and now he wants to do something else. nobody is being force fed. you either support it or don't. he's not controlling anybody's music or career but his own. it's his life, his legacy and some of us are free to express our dissapointment, but again, it his life and his legacy and you either support it or don't.

It'd be cooler if it was the 4th day of November. giggle

The 9th seems pretty late considering the first two shows are supposedly on the 10th and 11th (although par for the course with Prince) I guess those shows will be full of celebrity insiders, VIPs and Las Vegasians (or whatever residents of Vegas are called. smile )

a pre-sale link 4 tickets was sent 2 music club memembers on the 1rst of Nov.
u n the club?
eye got one.

My post was in response to Muse's post that tix would go on sale November 9th, so it's irrelevent now. (Yes I was in the club, and yes I got the email.)
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Okay...it's time for a sensible Prince fan to step in (LOL).....First off, I'll be the first to admit that when I heard the news about the midget going Vegas I was horrified...I didn't want dude to go the path of Fat Elvis and Barry Manilow...And that's real talk...But any senisble person that has done their homework about the club and the gigs should know that this is a totally different situation...

First off, the midget is leasing the space, which means he's basically opening up his own club...We also know from media reports that Prince is booking the acts for said club himself...And then there's the fact that a lot of folks tend to conveinently forget: The artists that are scheduled to perform (with the exception of older legendary acts like Chaka Khan, Patti Labelle, and Maceo Parker) are not exactly "Vegas" type talents...Do you think an "incredibly commercial venture" would have leftfield and underground acts like The Roots, JDavey, Ceelo/Gnarles Barkely, Mint Condition, Esthero, and the like???

Again, I'm down for dishing out some criticism when it comes to the midget (His botched handeling of the 3121 project, which should have been backed by a tour; the fact that he has yet to put her proper remasters for his past albums; his questionable choice for singles over the years...)...But shitting on Prince for establishing his own club as a business man (You remember Glam Slam don't you???) and not just as a performer (See Elton, see Celine Dion, ect...) is silly and misses the big picture...You would have been the same cat screaming at Prince 25 years ago for being attached to the film Purple Rain; you would have been the same cat screaming out that the same guy that put out Dirty Mind was a sellout for laying down with Hollywood...In other words, it aint that serious...

Read into the whole story first and then make a reasonable judgement before coming off with a knee jerk reaction...I think that's the mature thing to do, right? Anyway, peace and for real, I see where you are coming from...I just think you need to read up on all the details first...

seems like it all boils down to your opinion of vegas, which is obviously not a good one. Perhaps be open to the thought that Vegas is not just celine and barry but much much more. Let's hope Prince can change that image for alot of people.

I agree. The term 'midget' even offends little people. Prince really isn't that short.

Txladykat:
I just called the Rio and this is how the lady on the phone broken it down to me if you paid $125.00 for the performance, and you decide you want a table without the dinner, see item #1:

THE FOLLOWING PRICES IS FOR FRIDAY AND SATURDAY NIGHTS ONLY:

1) $374.52 -For 2 people or couple for a table/bottle w/tax/gratuities included - does not include dinner or the ticket, the ticket is $125.00 and paid for separately.

Now the $374.52 is not bad provided two can split the money for the table if you are going with a friend.

-----.
2) $694.00 - With Dinner/VIP tickets to the performance/table/w/bottle which includes tax and gratuities - for 2 people or a couple
-----

For Wednesdays it's $31.21 always whether there is a musical guest or not. It is advised that you call the Rio to see if they will have a musical guest that night or to check who the musical guest will be.

Info from Norm Clarke's column on the club and Prince hanging out:

http://www.reviewjournal....09958.html

Prince's headliner deal with the Rio launches Nov. 10, with the Grammy winner taking over Club Rio and a restaurant to be called 3121 Jazz Cuisine.

The club, where Prince will appear when his schedule allows, will be known as 3121, the title of his most recent CD.

A Prince show will cost $125 per person or $312.10 for the dinner and show package.

On Wednesdays, Prince's special guest performers will be featured for $31.21. Thursdays will be Latin Libido Night, with a cover charge of $31.21. Doors will open at 10 p.m. The restaurant will open daily at 5 p.m.

With Prince, there's always a bit of mystery, and he's created more with the many 3121 references. But a member of Prince's camp, said it is not a biblical reference, as some have speculated. Prince converted to Jehovah's Witness about five years ago.

Psalms 31:21 reads: "Blessed be Jehovah: For he hath showed me his marvelous loving kindness in a strong city."

...Prince, in The Lounge at the Palms to watch his keyboard player, Renato Neto, perform Monday with special guests of Santa Fe & The Fat City Horns. ...

...Jenny McCarthy, welcoming Prince to her VIP bed section at Pure in Caesars Palace, where she was celebrating her 34th birthday Tuesday in a French maid outfit.

Hell, I'm a short dude myself...It's just not that serious...

People that make short jokes have their own SHORT-comings.

First off: Get a sense of humor...

Secondly: If you've read any of my post in this thread, then you would see that I'm a very fair individual..In fact, I'm arguing that Prince operating a club in Sin City is an intelligent, business saavy idea...

Thirdly: Let's not turn this site into a MichaelJackson.com where I have to be worried about being pulled out of my bed at night because I've hurt someone's feelings in a particular post...As a height-challenged dude myself, I'm cool with throwing around such terms because they mean nothing to me...Hell, I refer to myself in such terms...Again, with all due respect (because it's all love) I suggest that you folks try not to worry about the feelings of a multi millionaire who doesn't know you from Adam...I'm a fan of the music and I think Prince stands as a music immortal...But if you can't understand that I'm having a fun and that "midget" is a term of endearment, then I'm sorry homie...

That's great, at least UK fans will have a chance to see him if this turns out to be true, especially since he didn't do the Musicology tour there.

Red

Robin Leach tidbit:

The gorgeous Jenny McCarthy kicked off Halloween celebrations dressed as a French maid when she first showed for dinner at Social House in Treasure Island. Then, just before midnight, she took a limo back to PURE to judge the $20,000 "sexy or scary" costume contest. She was in fine form, posing for fans and then, after she got a text message from beaufriend Jim Carrey, she even danced a jig on top of one of the VIP cabana beds, which is where she spent most of the fun time with her fish-net-stocking-covered legs tangled around another blonde gal pal's boudoir thigh-highs!!

Jenny, who celebrated her 34th birthday as the clock struck midnight, sipped on Cosmos all night long. Pop-legend Prince showed up -- for the 4th consecutive week -- after his guest gig at the Rio and joined the latex dressed Jenny. "I'm the new age French maid," she laughed, as she continued to send text messages back and forth to Jim Carrey.

Prince hung out on Jenny's VIP cabana bed while she danced with her friends at the VIP guard-rail towering over the disco-dancers below.

I agree. The term 'midget' even offends little people. Prince really isn't that short.

It's okay darlin, I'm short too (and left-handed, but that's completely off-topic). Personally, I call Prince, "little man"....or "Shorty McNasty" depending on what Prince song I just finished listening to. wink

This business decision dosent make Prince a "fucking idiot". I'm not blinded by fandom, nor do I consider this artist some "messiah" nor you some "stereotyping idiot". I dont know know exactly what you mean re: him cultivating some "rock star" image but [Let's leave racism out of this thread. That's not what this thread is all about snip - luv4u] He acts his age and people complain. Whatever.
