It's now confirmed on The Twinz website http://www.thetwinz.net/ that they will play november 8th, 10th and 11th at The Rio club 3121

"The Twinz will be performing along side Prince at the opening of his new 3121 club will be the hottest spot in Las Vegas. November @ The Rio LAS VEGAS. A show not to be missed! Info at www.3121.com"

I don't get the Twinz. Didn't he already do this concept with Diamond and Pearl back in the day....protecting myself from flying objects and flying insults - shields up...boxed

Twinz and numbers is Prince's thang.
he always wants double everything. When these twins dry up, no doubt Prince will get a fresh batch.
he might even get 2 sets of Twins or 4 sets of Quads.
he likes stuff 2 match.
Diamond and Pearl matched real good 2 not b related 2 each other.

Just called the Rio... ticket info is not available until the 9th of November.

It'd be cooler if it was the 4th day of November. giggle

The 9th seems pretty late considering the first two shows are supposedly on the 10th and 11th (although par for the course with Prince) I guess those shows will be full of celebrity insiders, VIPs and Las Vegasians (or whatever residents of Vegas are called. smile )

a pre-sale link 4 tickets was sent 2 music club memembers on the 1rst of Nov.
u n the club?

first and foremost I am glad he got control of this situation and doing it his way. The only thing that kind of doesn't sit with me well is that the wonderfull mystery of where and when he's going to perform is gone. I imagine him sitting by the pool waiting for his next gig, "oh lawd time to school them again." So before you take this post as a complaint and say oh here's another one complaining, for the record I am not. I think it's great the way he arranged the whole project. It's just that I always like the mystery of this guy popping up all of the place and blessing us with his music, agree or disagree?

total DISAGREE! woot!
never liked guessing where Prince was.
never liked the Mystery of 'finding' him.
heck he can sit by the pool as long as he likes, and so will eye, and when he get's up and sez, whelp, let's go jam...SLAMMIN!

AIN'T DOWN WIT...general admission at those prices though, and how come no one has mentioned the NPGMUSIC CLUB PRESALE???

hmmm, contact friends n Las Vegas, and stay 4 weeks, c Prince 16xs then go home.

or move 2 Las Vegas...c every Prince show, then ? gasp eye don't no.
after Prince leaves Vegas, who's left? Wayne Newton? is he embalmed yet?

From BBC Website:

Prince sets sights on Las Vegas

Prince's hits include Purple Rain and Sign O' The Times
Pop star Prince is to play a series of weekend concerts in Las Vegas, beginning next week.
The singer, 48, will play Friday and Saturday night shows at the Rio hotel's nightclub and will also host gigs featuring other artists on Wednesdays.

A club statement said Prince's shows would go on indefinitely.

Tickets for the over-21 concerts cost $125 (£65.50) and will go on sale on 2 November.

Other artists in residence in the city include Celine Dion.

Prince's 2004 comeback tour took $90.3m (£48.5m) in ticket sales and helped make him the top earner in the music industry that year.

The star, who has previously changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol and The Artist Formerly Known As Prince, has had a string of hits since he began recording in the late 70s, including When Doves Cry, Purple Rain and Kiss

My God you are blinded by famdom aren't you?

Prince has just become Barry Manilow; this is not the raw fuck/rock legend of the 80s; this is a tired, generic R&B artist looking for some money in a newly commercial career. For all his bad-mouthing of the record industry, Prince himself is turning NPG Records Inc. into an incredibly commercial venture not too unlike what these "big, evil labels that steal your masters" do to their artists.

That's a third-party site that hasn't updated it's info. Ticketmaster has a teeny bit of info. Neither the Rio or Ticketmaster have any more details yet and won't for a week or so (according to the Rio).

Maybe you should reserve judgment until you have some remote idea of what your talking about besides some vague press release and slick website full of, I might add superb artists. Btw, the 80s were over nearly 20 years ago.

I know exactly what I'm talking about. Prince gets a 90% cut of the profits under his label so he's using that power to rake in the cash - totally understandable and normal, and yes - the gigs will sellout because he is Prince, but just because I highlight a flaw in this website's Messiah doesn't mean I'm a stereotyping idiot who doesn't know what he talking about; you in fact are being that yourself by making that assumption, and again - "superb" artists is a matter of opinion, not fact.

As for the 80s, that affects nothing - we still have rockstars today who are far less commercial; the business of the music industry has changed; image hasn't. If Prince wanted to cultivate that rockstar image he could, but he chooses not to.

Prince hasn't been the raw fuck/rock legend of the 80s since, well, the 80s. Thankfully he changed with the times instead of getting stuck in that era like so many 80s acts, constantly developing his sound and tastes for new generations, not a bad thing in my eyes. You say he's doing this Vegas thing simply for the money? Don't you think there are far more reliable ways of making money for him? He could do another tour, USA or rest of the world. After making the biggest profit in '04, pundits were predicting his '06 tour would be up there with the biggest-hitters - but he decided not to do the obvious money-making thing. If he was touring now you'd still be saying 'oh he's only doing it to rake in the money', what's a guy to do and where to go to play his music?

And the difference between these 'big evil labels' and NPG Records Inc is that Prince is still the only artist on the roster, therefore the only artist they can treat badly is Prince himself! God forbid NPG make money, eh? Nasty commercialism...
