It always takes a while before records are updated. I really doubt this silly lawsuit would have any effect one way or the other on record sales. Prince used to get sued like every other day back when he had no money in the mid-nineties.

true...but still, i find this whole thing funny as fuck. evillol

Gotta be that one, it's cold in MPLS ain't it.

I bet this is why we haven't seen Mani recently, she's been ripping off the NPG logo off the stock of unsold parka's and sowing on '3121' as merchandise for the upcoming tour.

Seems kinda interesting that this surfaces a day before the album's release in the USA.

An exercise in P.R? I mean the scanned paper is dated November last year.

Exactly, this is OLD OLD news. Isn't there a picture of the place in the new album? Pretty funny- kind of rubbing it in the guy's face a bit.

this is a prelude to the imminent cancellation of this silly "purple ticket" contest. prince will claim he can't have the performance because the owner of the home will not allow it.

he'll then throw a huge thing at the park and charge everyone 31.21 for a ticket. no winners, no contest.

The contrest rules state from the getgo that it will be at Prince's home or another location of his chosing if necessary. He can have the thing anywhere he wants in LA and it won't make a damn bit of difference to the Purple ticket thing.

I remember the Oprah show thinking that his place looked tacky. Also some posted pictures from the CD on the bedroom at 3121 with the words Satisfied and 3121 written on a blanket and pillows. Its just looked so damn childish and cheap.

That being said why would Boozer (a pretty good college basketball player for Duke just a couple of years ago a lesser pro) sue Prince over something like that. You sue when the tenant doesn't restore to its former state prio to him leaving. I'm a landlord so I know. Story sounds bogus

Well it sounded as if Prince was doing permanent damage. I mean cutting large holes through basement walls etc. But I'm sure Prince agreed to return to its former state and that is why the lawsuit was dropped.

I mean he gave Prince a "quit" order and he didn't listen so he had to take it to the next level with the lawsuit.

Yes, if you read the full article, the lawsuit was filed in January, but was retracted in February, so I guess they've come to some agreement. The damage that has been done can certainly be rectified, especially with the money Prince has got. But it is strange to file against a tenant while they're still renting, they should have waited until Prince left to see if things were put back the way they were. I mean, painting over some purple paint is no big deal!

It's sort of surprising that Prince didn't buy a property outright, especially with the $50 million profit from the 2004 tour, but perhaps there aren't that many properties available to buy that met Prince's requirements, but jeez, that $70,000 a month rent money is totally going down the drain when it could have been invested in a bought house.

The original rules also stated that if the event didn't happen, they would swap the prize for $3000 so winners get something out of it either way.

Well, I was told long ago that no such address exist in that area so I knew 3121 was not the address.

The 3 day notice was served in Nov. and the suit was filed in Jan. Since the landlord accepted rent in Dec. and Jan., that means he had to dismiss the case.

If P made alterations to the property without consent he had to pay damages, so they probably settled on a dollar amount.

That makes this a non story. The real story may be Smoking Gun publishing his address for all the world to see. I wonder what's gonna happen behind that?

Hilarious. All of it.

My personal favorite is: ...piping was added in the downstairs bedroom "for water transfer for beauty salon chairs."

Can't you just see Prince in there having his hair did? giggle
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Most evictions are filed while the tenant is still in residence. When you file an eviction while the tenant is still in the property it means that if they do not comply they have to leave the property or be forcibly removed, so I guess they were prepared to put him out. eek You can still sue for money damages even after the eviction has been executed.

I wish I could remember where I read it, but one of the very first reports about the purple ticket contest did state that the concert would be at Paisley Park. Later, when I heard it was at his house, I thought, "no way"! lol

He really could designate any location he wants for the contest.

Nothing, just adding to your point, that one way or another, whether it's a party at his LA pad, Paisley Park, elsewhere or cash equivalent, the winners get something out of it. I don't think there should be some uproar if he cancelled the purple ticket if he's handing out $3000.

Well, there'd be no point in filing an eviction if the tenant had already left the residence! Of course evictions are filed while the tenant is in residence - but this wasn't an eviction order, it was a file for damages which might have led to an eviction if they hadn't come to some arrangement.

But you know people will scream bloody murder even though it was printed in the contest rules which I bet few people even bothered to read. lol

Stylist: Hold you ear down

::Prince folds down ear::

P: Don't use so much hair spritz. It flakes up too quickly.

Stylist: Ok. You want me to bump the front or are you wearing it straight today.

P: Nah. Leave it straight. I don't have any place special to be today.
